    For 10/6

Ok, so Hoff sends me a copy of the PM he sends Zack....and doesn't bother to tell ME to my (virtual) face why he left me dangling about Dirty Deeds all month? Fuck him. "It isn't fun anymore" doesn't cut it. He could have at least talked to me and, if he didn't want to stick around, drop the belt to PK to avoid all this crap. I honestly don't care about feedback a whole lot. We never really critique each other anyway, so yeah, I'd rather have someone that isn't involved with the fed telling me how my match reads. It is true that the whole Civil War angle could have been planned out a bit better, but if you have a problem with that, you talk to people and not hide in a cave for a few months. I really have no personal issues with anyone here, but if you act like a bitch, I'll call you out on it. Seriously, it seems like some people are either too fucking proud or afraid to just send a PM or find the person on AIM and say "Hey, I've got a problem with something."
  2. I don't think there is a roadblock limit because that runs the risk of having one of the little kids (like Carissa Gaghan) do a very physically demanding and/or dangerous (for kids) task and having them get hurt. That's probably why there isn't a 12-hour rule as well. I liked the "Secret Ops" roadblock and the battlefield medic Detour, but almost every other task has been lacking. And there still really isn't any particular family that is interesting. The mother of the Paolo family is just useless (we're approaching Flo territory here) and the Weaver family always bringing up their dead dad is getting annoying. Unfortunately, GSN doesn't show an old AR on Tuesdays to flip to (though that is a good move on CBS' part).
  3. Yeah, I'd put the exact moment that the WWE started to lose it as the night after Wrestlemania X-7, when HHH stormed the ring as Austin and Vince were beating on Rock.....and hit Rock. It just did not make any logical sense. The two guys (meaning HHH and Austin) just finished a blood feud only two months ago and now everything is peachy? It seemed like they finally came around to realizing their mistake in that tag match....but then the quad tear happened.
  4. Have everything in by 9-10PM kids and I'll put it up.
  5. I loved watching Barry Melrose explain the new NHL rules on Sportscenter. The guy could just be reading recipies from an Emeril cookbook and I'd still be glued to the TV. Anyway, I'll probably be watching the Bruins game before LOST tonight. For threads, I suggest we start with a monthly one, but if it becomes too much to follow, switch to one every 2 weeks or so.

    HTQ Wrestling Op Ed#1

You had two gimmick matches that were booked as blowoffs (Edge/Matt and Angle/HBK, because they kept calling it "the rubber match" which usually signifies a deciding contest), the returns of three of the biggest superstars in the company's history, and they extended it to three hours. They even gave it a special name (Homecoming). I'd say they were treating it like a psuedo-PPV
  7. Yeah, overlong 20 minute segments were a cornerstone of RAW when it was on USA. That's a grade A spinjob on WWE's part, though.
  8. I dunno. I saw a LOT of advertisements for this show all over the place (on NBC, on USA, on web sites) and they essentially gave this show the air of a PPV....and the rating they get is barely a point above their average? I wouldn't be THAT excited about that number.
  9. Well, the more recent systems have more moving parts and are a bit more sophisticated so their lifespan is shorter than systems like the NES, whose only real problem was dust getting into the system and carts. I mean, I probably could go get it fixed, but since I'm not getting a PS3 for a few years, just getting one brand new (since I'm only paying half since it is a b-day present, which probably would be how much I would pay to get my old one fixed in the first place) is the best way to go.
  10. 3.5-3.9 range. And it should fall back down to that next week, as the RAW vs. SD angle looks to be going the way of the Invasion already with SD playing the role of The Alliance.
  11. There were some sweet kicks thrown in that fight. Dan pissed me off by being so pensive and not attacking when he had an opening. I'm sure Matt was pissed as well. Jason might suddenly be the favorite here because he already showed his heart in the Jorge fight and now he's pissed off by Matt kicking him off the team, which just adds more motivation. Matt's "tough ass coach" routine might be starting to backfire on him. Anyway, here's Bonnar's take: And Forrest:
  12. Berman's calling the game, so I'm just going to flip to it for a few minutes lest I throw up in my mouth too much and end up choking to death.
  13. I only really watched the ladder match, which was killed by the commercial break but had some nice spots, the WAY too long Austin/McMahons segment (with the weakest payoff possible) and the B&P match (Candace is beyond useless) and I didn't really see anything Earth-shattering or anything building to something that will be interesting in the future. It may have been better than Impact, but I want to watch Impact next week. I don't have that same feeling about RAW.
  14. Angels-Padres because every game won't end until 3 AM Eastern given FOX's presentation.
  15. I think I'll go with Red Sox-Angels and Braves (though Houston takes them the distance)-Cardinals for my LCS. The reason people aren't picking the White Sox is because the Red Sox have mashed Chicago pitching this year (Contreras is their bitch with a career ERA over 11) and they don't have the offense to counter Boston's. I just hope that I don't have to listen to Berman call any of these games.
  16. I would do a Royal Treatment on Impact, but I'm not really familiar with TNA as it is right now, so I wouldn't feel comfortable really giving a good opinion on it without people pointing out a bunch of mistakes a regular viewer wouldn't miss.
  17. Nah. Brady's averaging something like 280 yards and Dillon has 5 TDs. It's the defense that isn't quite up to snuff yet and the injuries don't help (on both sides of the ball). Today was due to the D not stopping SD and causing turnovers coupled with the O-line not giving Brady time or Dillon holes to run through. He did have a few big runs, but the Pats had to throw more because they were in a lot of 3rd and long situations.
  18. Maybe the Eagles should just wheel Aikers out there after all. Looks like Jets/Ravens is the "First team that scores wins" crappy game I was expecting.
  19. Damn, big respect to the Chargers today. Like Simms said, you have to play a perfect game to beat the champs at home and they did. They dominated that third quarter and pretty much put it away. I'm hoping that this was just the Pats D adjusting to no Harrison and not a preview of things to come.
  20. Hey, I just realized something. Dames actually pronounced my last name correctly. Well, one out of 20 isn't bad (most people pronounce it "Costa" or "Kos-TI-ca").
  21. Gee Dames, way to sound like a slobbering fanboy when JLH is brought up. At least keep yourself professional, boy. (For the record, if I was on and Lacey Chabert was brought up, I probably would have done the same) Otherwise, good show from you guys.
  22. Uh....no. Matt signed a one-night deal with TNA and literally morphed into his brother for the match, don't you remember? He might not have the charisma, but the guy can shape-shift like a mo-fo. ANYWAY, continue discussing this fine wrestling program tonight and ignore Dames' getting everything wrong-ness.
  23. I already refuse to acknowledge that Arron Small didn't lose a single start this year, so I DAMN sure refuse to believe that he will keep this up in the playoffs. I don't know if his deal with Satan (the same he negotiated with Kurt Warner, it seems) extends beyond October 2nd.
  24. Yeah, I put a lot of mileage on the thing. Now it won't even power up. I'm getting the new one as an early birthday present, so I figure that'll be better than getting my old one fixed but having it still crap out on me.
  25. I enjoyed it, definitely a breath of fresh air from WWE recently. However, I have a few grievances: - Monty Brown really didn't do much for me and I don't know if I can buy The Pounce as a legit finisher. He played for the Pats though, so yay. - The sound was kind of wacky, with the music and crowd drowing out Tenay and West sometimes (and they need to calm down a little bit themselves) - The main event wasn't the best choice of match with Matt Hardy vs. Rhino. I would have used guys that wouldn't remind people of a mid-first hour RAW match, possibly the three way since they want to put the X Division over more. Still, not a bad re-introduction for me (watched a few PPVs in the early days). Hopefully we get longer matches from now on, because a good 10-15 minute match a week would really hook people in.
