I'm guessing you haven't watched many PPV's. I'd recommend Every WWF PPV from January-May 2000 as great shows and all around fun to watch. I stand by my comment. For the record Backlash 2000 was the most fun show I've ever seen....and I was there live, therefore it doesn't count as a PPV to me (i.e. on TV). Oh come on, just because you are hard selling TNA because it's going to die doesn't need twisted logic about how to determine what a PPV show is. Just say it: The show was great for a pay-per-view, and from top to bottom fun. It was top to bottom fun, probably the most fun I've ever had watching a wrestling PPV on TV. I was all alone (well except for my dog who didn't know what was going on) and I marked out numerous times throughout. It wasn't just one match or one moment.

Again, I plead to the people who saw the show and voted they didn't like it to speak out. All I'm getting so far is people who watched the show and agree with me that it was awesome and the typical negativity from the anti-TNA people who didn't see it. If you didn't like it speak out and tell us why!

Kash got a *** match out of Dustin for sure. Kash was wrestling himself in there it was amazing, like a Ric Flair performance. The match made total sense. A lot of psychology in tonights show which is a nice change of pace from just highspots.

2 people have voted that they saw the show and did not enjoy it. I am begging those voters to please comment and elaborate. I am not exagerating, I really thought this PPV was awesome and just a Brown title win away from being in best ever territorry. Please, do make yourselves heard because I really am curious to hear your reasons for not enjoying the show.

As apparently the only person on Earth who actually watched the show, I can say that Jarrett retaining was not as bad as it sounds. I am almost positive they will do a rematch at the next show, with 1 on 1 buildup. Seriously, Monty took him to the limit and Jarrett had to throw everything but the kitchen sink at him to beat him. I think the point of this match was like a trial baloon to make Monty a star and show he's capable of beating Jarrett for the rematch. And I can emphatically say this was NOT a mediocre "just better than WWE" PPV. It was as I said the most fun PPV I've watched maybe ever. The tag title and Ultimate X matches were insanely good. I feel like the only person in the world who actually gives TNA a chance around here. Anyone else care to chime in who's seen the show?

Oh, can't forget Abyss showing up out of nowhere and destroying Hardy. That was a markout too. (Tenay: WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING HERE?)
-
Damn. Besides the disappointing ending, at least it was done well and wasn't cheap and builds to a rematch making eveyone look stronger, but what a PPV. Turning Point was good, but Final Resolution IMO was excellent. I can't remember I had that much FUN watching a PPV. I was marking out over and over again and I was just watching it alone, really into it. The opener was just what it needed to be, a hot match. Skipper/Dutt put on an exciting spotfest, Dustin and Kash had a suprisingly good psychology based match, Piper made Hall/Hardy entertaining (I was laughing at the prematch frisking and the results!). Raven/Watts wasn't great but there are circumstances around that. The 3 way was what it needed to be and gave everyone hope for Monty. The last 3 matches were literally nonstop action. Just an awesome triple main event to finish things. AMW are like tag team gods. Another emotional tag team battle for them. I loved how it evolved from brawling to the heel heat segment, to all the nearfalls to the backfiring interference. ****s at least. And then, Ulitmate X was just one markout moment after another. I don't want to throw 5 snowflakes out there but it was pretty perfect. I mean AJ bringing the psychology with the hurt hand and not being able to climb? The spot where AJ flipped inside out and I thought he was dead? The way he sold the destroyer? The way he leaped out of nowhere to grab the belt? Hell, AJ made the match! And the main event was what it needed to be if Jarrett was going to retain. Nothing like Nash interfering or a dumb ref bump leading to a pin. Monty looked like a contender, took Jarrett to his limit and it took Jarrett countless gutair shots, lowblows and strokes to finally put him away. I hope they promote the 1 on 1 rematch for Feb. like everyone wanted and pull the trigger on Monty. Oh, and I can't forget the atmosphere. I have never seen a crowd quite like the Impact Zone audience that is consistently into the show from start to finish. Their cheers and chants really added a layer of atmosphere to the show. I would highly reccomend the replay for anyone with the funds. I would gladly forgoe ordering Royal Rumble in favor of this show. Ok, enough of my gushing, let's hear from others who watched the show. As for those who didn't see it, wait until you all read other opinions, results, etc. and honestly respond whether it was a show you might have enjoyed.

You know, I can see that happening. I was thinking about a finger poke of doom scenario but thought "they can't be THAT stupid" but that would be a great twist and a satisfying ending, be interesting to see if it goes down like that...

I don't know how you could rate this a thumbs up show. Besides the funny cold opening and Hardball sketches (and a decent monologue and creative currency sketch) the rest of the show felt like it was written on a napkin with no editor because no one had any good ideas before showtime. Truly everything in between was just awful and tedious to watch...

If you enjoyed the last PPV, why not give this one a shot? Are you on commission ? If any of the matches turn out to be particularly good, I might download them later. Their refusal to properly utilize their roster at the expense of bringing in over the hill has beens and keeping the title on JJ means that I don't feel particularly obliged to help them stay in business. No, I already clarified I'm not on the payroll! I'm just a fan who wants to help promote the show. I think it's kind of hypocritical that if you enjoy it you download it illegally to watch it but won't buy the show and support the company bringing it to you, as you don't like their booking, yet you still want to watch the show. One or the other. If you don't like TNA, fine. But then you shouldn't feel the need to download it... Anyway, results so far are kind of disappointing to say the least, taking in account the huge positive feedback Turning Point recieved, I'd think more people would be willing to give this one a shot. Oh well, if the PPV ends up getting good reviews, I will post a response poll similar to Turning Point and it should be interesting to see what it says. If results are similar I might want to get into why there is a disparity between people who claim to enjoy the product yet won't order the shows...

Anyone know what's going on with www.pwtorch.com ? Just curious if anyone knows, because I haven't been able to get on the site all day.

If you enjoyed the last PPV, why not give this one a shot? If this were WWE, that would be like saying "If you liked Survivor Series, why not get Armageddon?" and everyone knows the answer to that... I hope. No, it's different because TNA is literally trying to survive and are still new to the 3 hour PPV world. WWE has had many years of shows and it's survival doesn't rely on a few people ordering their shows. If someone liked what they saw at Turning Point I'd hope they'd order Final Resolution if they're able to to support TNA's survival.

Dave Meltzer's preview: --A look at tomorrow night's TNA PPV show: *Jeff Jarrett vs. ?. The one good thing about the last two shows has been the great crowd response in Orlando. Since I doubt Kevin Nash will win, that leaves DDP or Monty Brown. On paper, DDP is the best match, and I'm sure everyone who didn't see the Jarrett-Brown match a few weeks ago would also think that. If you did, that match was shockingly good and it was only a shame so few people actually watch Impact. I don't know that anyone cares about the main event, and nobody cares about that title, but it will probably be a good match *Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin vs. A.J. Styles for the X title in Ultimate X. These three have been working very hard on the match. It will probably be a show stealing dare devil stunt show. And it needs to be, because the only chance this show has of being great is for this match to deliver. *DDP vs. Monty Brown vs. Kevin Nash with the winner facing Jarrett. You can be eliminated by pinfall, submission, DQ, COR or by being thrown over the top rope. This match is needless because it forces someone to work twice. The original idea was they had no confidence in Monty Brown as a draw and the idea was for him to face Jarrett on top. That may or may not have since been changed. What they don't realize is this show is selling the same buys whether it's Brown, Nash or DDP advertised on top. Well, really, Nash may actually hurt the buy rate slightly as compared with the other two even though he's the "biggest name," given the limited audience TNA draws from. But that's another issue. This has the potential to be a bad match unless they get Nash out of there fast. *Eric Young & Bobby Roode vs. AMW for the tag titles. Good shot for a title change. Should be the second best match on the show. Team Canada bumps well and Roode is very underrated as a worker. AMW always work their asses off. *3 Live Kru vs. Michael Shane & Frankie Kazarian & Christopher Daniels. Three strong heel workers, and 3 Live Kru have looked a lot better of late, plus, most of the time, they're the most popular act in the promotion. *Jeff Hardy vs. Scott Hall with Roddy Piper as ref. Not much hope for a good wrestling match, so I'm expecting Rhodes will fill it up with gimmicks to keep it fresh. Those three names in the same ring. Whoa! *Erik Watts vs. Raven. I don't know if this match will be taking place or not *Dustin Rhodes vs. Kid Kash. Size difference will be shocking. Rhodes is much bigger than most think of him as because he was always with the giants in WWF. Kash is much shorter than people think he is. Two veterans. Obviously Rhodes is going over. *Elix Skipper vs. Sonjay Dutt. You never know with this kind of match. Skipper is supposed to be a heel, but fans have been cheering him ever since he did that spot of the year on the last PPV. Wow, and look at where he is now. Guaranteed effort in this match and at least there will be attempts at unique moves. You never know with this match. There will be a 30 minute free pregame show featuring two matches, Johnny B. Badd & Sonny Siaki vs. Andy Douglas & Chase Stevens, as well as a singles match with Chris Candido.

Yeah we talked about this a little in the Final Resolution preview thread. Hopefully Watts is taken off the show and sent home to regroup and Raven is given something else to do (I suggested doing an angle at the beginning of the show to put him into the 3 way match or have him run in and cost DDP the the match leading to a one on one between the 2 later).

Who cares if it's over? In a few months, the fans won't give a fuck about it because the move will be overexposed. Like I said, I wouldn't hate the move as much as I do if he were to be running before doing it, or done it off the top with his opponent standing in the ring, but as it is? I feel it exposes the business too much for me to like it. It doesn't even have the showmanship that the People's Elbow did to at least make up for it. It's just "oh, I'm Petey Williams, and this guy is going to backflip while I roll forward." Just to clarify, again, he finished off AJ Styles at Victory Road with the exact variation you suggested (from the top with the crouched over), and as for showmanship he has started using the "reelin' 'em in" motion to get the fans to anticipate the move is coming and it's been pretty over. Of course I wouldn't expect you to know these things as it's seemingly more fun to crticize what you haven't seen. Anyway, this topic can go in circles. TNA has never boasted the "most realistic wrestling" it boasts it's X division as innovative and high flying. If that's not your thing, fine. But don't try to use petty excuses that could applied to any wrestler (hell SCSA's stunner required huge cooperation and looked pretty fake, yet it's one of the most over finishers in wrestling history. Similarily, Petey's Destroyer was voted by the TNA fans (the ones who matter since they're investing their time and money into the product) as best finisher of the year, so obviously the fans like it and I've said from the beginning that TNA's key to survival is to push what fans like (re: Monty Brown for champion!) regardless of petty elitist nitpicking about this and that. Hogan in the 80s was a shitty worker with the same match every time yet fans ate him up and he made the company millions. Im certainly not comparing that level remotely to anything in TNA but it's the same concept. Ok, I'm done venting. I really didn't want arguments but intend to make this thread part 1 of my 2 (or more) part experiment. Continued thanks to everyone who votes and ecpecially gives their comments. I find it interesting that many respondents who will not be ordering are doing so not because of the product but because of financial or locational reasons...

Oh sure..blame me. Oh wait. I voted for Erlich. *goes to Delaware to play the slots* Thats one of the things that I truly don't understand. Maryland is all for horse racing and the lottery, but God forbid people should be able to pull a lever (or press a button now a days..) and try and win a few bucks on a couple of spinning reels. Meanwhile, Delaware is raking in the money from slots and Pennsylvania/West Virginia just did give the go ahead to do Slots. I see tour busses every day on Route 13 from Virginia going to Dover/Harrington for slots, not to mention the fact that the last 3 times I've been to Harrington, which is only an hour or so from where I live, Id say at least 1/3 of the cars in the lot were from Maryland. Its kind of stupid that the lawmakers in Annapolis can't see that they will end up losing money by not doing slots since there are several options for people in Maryland to play slots if they want to bad enough. If slots are such a problem, then I would suggest that the Lottery and Horseracing be banned as well since its all gambling and I dont see how you can support 2 forms of gambling and not another. It's all politics. The Dems resent Ehrlich for beating their Kennedy royalty candidate and so they make sure all his ideas are blocked. It makes tons of sense, but of course according to the Dems that control the senate, "slots=taking advantage of the poor and minorities who are too helpless to make their own decisions and they will surely be taken advantage of and blow their paychecks gambling so we need to look out for them by banning it all together and oh by the way make sure to play lotto!" or whatever other borderline racist nonsense they use-which roughly translates to "Kill all of Ehrlich's ideas". Trust me, if a Dem came up with it, it'd be law right now.

It's a cool wrestling move that to most viewers is exciting and innovative. 99% of wrestling moves are inplausible and require huge cooperation from the other guy. It's why you don't see much besides basic slams and suplexes in UFC and Pride. If the guy's finisher was a heart punch or a chinlock it would be realistic and you would complain that his offense is too boring. Any excuse to complain about TNA I suppose...

If he's in the middle of a huge push, I can see being reluctant to go on the shelf for surgery (being one half of the Smackdown mix and match tag champs doesn't count) but really, he's already in the doghouse for not going on the Iraq trip, he might as well heal on the company's dime and then come back fresh in a few months...

Please, I want this PPV to be succesful. The last thing TNA needs to be associated with is a bunch of overpayed, overrated chokers. I wouldn't want it to rub off or something.

Hey, the Torch reported that Hardy's New Year's resolution was to show up on time for the tapings and he apparently arrived several hours early for iMPACT! even before catering arrived, so maybe he's turning a new leaf.

Updated with new article running down full card.

Say what you will about Watts as a wrestler, but he needs to take the night off, and clear his head and get well before stepping back in a ring. Raven can easily be moved in to the 3 way match to make it a 4 way (since the feud with DDP is already there), or something similar (i.e. put the 3 way on early, have Raven run in and cost DDP the match and then DDP can challenge Raven to a one on one later), whatever.
