  1. Care to share your plan? Maybe for the sake of others?
  2. Laz, you are entitled to your opinion and I thank you for sharing it (this is to clarify I have no intention of starting any arguments in this thread.) I would just like to clarify that Styles personally requested last year to be moved back into the X division so he could work with faster opponents and have more innovative matches. I also disagree with the sentiment that AMW don't have good matches and your assements of Petey Williams, Sonjay Dutt and Elix Skipper as nothing special. I will also say the buzz for a while has been than Jarrett is fully aware that it's time for him to lose the belt (maybe even out of a selfish attempt not to be the champion if the company goes down), but it more likely than ever to happen this Sunday and Brown is the most likely to take it. In fact that reason they promoted a 3 way with Nash and DDP is because even though they wanted Brown in the title match they were afraid it wouldn't sell to the mainstream and thus added DDP and Nash who have name value to reach the same ends. Again, everyone's entitled to share their opinions.
  3. Yeah, this sucks. When I'm at home between semesters, I meet a friend or 2 at the local Hooters to watch the show (since even with ordering food its cheaper than splitting the PPV at home) and when we walked up to the door for NYR, we were discourgaed to see a notice that said they would no longer be showing WWE PPVs. I had no intentions of wanting to order this show but we were pretty bummed so I agreed to split the show with my buddy and we watched it at my place. Don't know why they would make this decision though as WWE nights definitely garnered huge crowds (thats a lot of ordered wings and beer that wouldn't be there otherwise), but I guess it has something to do with WWE raising their rates. Oh well. Its getting less and less easier to legally watch WWE PPVs between this and the raising of the webcast price...
  4. Updated with new extensive Ultimate X match preview!
  5. Monty Brown (to win the 3 way and the title) Chris Sabin (for Ultimate X in the match of the night that steals the show) AMW (wins the tag titles in the sleeper second best match over Team Canada) Jeff Hardy (over Hall with help from Piper, will probably be a trainwreck but who knows what Piper will do live) Raven (over Watts if Watts doesn't OD before the show, in the DUD of the night) Dustin Rhodes (over Kash in the sleeper suprisingly entertaining match of the night) Skipper (over Dutt in an entertaining X division bout with an insane move or 2) Daniels/Shane/Kazarian (over 3LK in what should be the hot opener.) I predict at least one suprise appearence. From who? I can't say, but I'm guessing it comes out of left field.
  6. Another poll to test TNA interest amongst TSM. No, I don't work for TNA but as a long time fan and advocate I want to help promote this show and gauge it's interest around here. I ask you all to please review the poll that gathered Turning Point reaction to show that even if TNA shows might not get a lot of hype, they have the potential to exceed expectations and deliver an entertaining show. A majority of respondents said that they didn't order but think they would have enjoyed the show. Don't be left out this time! http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=64433 There is no doubt WWE New Year's Revolution was bad. Besides a decent main event with a groaner finish the rest of the show is being called the worst 100 minutes of a WWE PPV ever. TNA offers an alternative this Sunday on PPV with their 3rd 3 hour epic PPV, Final Resolution. Here are some reasons I give it my reccomendation: -Rising favorite Monty Brown will finally get his shot at the NWA title and although it is not guarenteed, it is largely believed he will take the title from Jeff Jarrett. -The Ultimate X match returns. Much like the cage match stole the show at Turning Point, Ultimate X has the potential to do the same with this show. At Victory Road, AJ Styles and Petey Williams had the match of the night and Williams and Sabin had an epic match that would have been match of the night at Turning Point (if not for the cage match). All 3 will be looking to steal the show in this one. - AMW, consistent deliverers of good tag team matches take on the more than capable Team Canada in a tag title match -plus, fresh off the Cage Walk '04, Elix Skipper will be in there against Sonjay Dutt in an X division match that with some time should deliver. -And although it's not been announced yet, Daniels/Kazarian and Shane will take on 3Lk in what should be an entertaining match. -Plus TNA always like to bring out suprises and special appearences for their big shows, so who knows what to expect in this one. Ok, that's my opinion out of the way. Please do vote, and if you are unsure I hope those who have made up their mind (either way) can help those who are decide.
  7. I suppose that could put a monkey wrench in things. (Imagine how Raven must feel, he'd rather die than be in a match with him!) Anyway I will update this as things are changed or posted.
  8. (all photos and articles compiled from www.tnawrestling.com) FINAL RESOLUTION: THIS SUNDAY LIVE ON PAY-PER-VIEW! Click here to watch a preview video running down the card NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MAIN EVENT Champion Jeff Jarrett vs. TBD (Nash, The Alpha Male or DDP) (Click here to watch a preview video on the main event) On Sunday, January 16th at Total Nonstop Action “Final Resolution” three top TNA Superstars (Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page & “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown) will square off for a chance to face one man, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett is the three-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and a competitor that has ruled the ranks in TNA Wrestling since its inception. The Champion has an advantage at “Final Resolution” in that he will only have to wrestle once while his opponent will be competing in a second match. Jarrett has recently been relying on his alliance with Kevin Nash & Scott Hall in recent months to help retain his title. If Kevin Nash emerges as Jarrett’s opponent will “The Kings of Wrestling” continue to rule together? “I am TNA, I am the King of the Mountain, and ‘Final Resolution’ is on Planet Jarrett,” said The NWA World Heavyweight Champion “I don’t care if it’s the Hollywood has-been DDP, the Double-A ball player Monty Brown, or even Kevin Nash. The only one walking out of Universal Studios on January 16th with my belt, is me.” WINNER ADVANCES TO THE MAIN EVENT TITLE MATCH THAT NIGHT Kevin Nash vs. The Alpha Male vs. Diamond Dallas Page Every competitor in professional wrestling wants one thing and one thing only, to be World Heavyweight Champion. The most coveted Championship in the history of professional wrestling is the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, held by Jeff Jarrett. The chase to join such names as Lou Thesz, Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Sting & others as NWA World Heavyweight Champion has separated friendships and broken dreams many times over. On Sunday, January 16 at TNA Wrestling “Final Resolution” on pay-per-view three men (Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page & “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown) will face each other for a shot at Jarrett and a shot at greatness. Kevin Nash has been a World Champion before but has never held the prestigious NWA Title. “All things being equal, I have always been the number one guy wherever I’ve been” said Nash “and that belt, well it would look pretty cool around the Silver Fox’s waist.” “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown is considered the hottest newcomer in professional wrestling by many and is looking forward to January 16th. Brown faced Jeff Jarrett for the Championship a few weeks ago on “iMPACT!” losing due to outside interference. “Jeff Jarrett better take a long look at that belt and at himself because he knows and everyone else knows that he cannot defeat The Alpha Male one on one,” said Monty Brown “I don’t care how many former World Champions I have to go through, I am the most dominant male on this planet and I will show that at ‘Final Resolution’. 2005 is the year of The Alpha Male and Planet Jarrett is way past its prime.” Diamond Dallas Page is a three-time World Champion and has created a Bang! since his surprising return to professional wrestling. DDP and his Diamond Cutter are always a serious threat to anyone’s title reign. Three men all have one goal, beat each other to face the NWA World Heavyweight Champion later that night. All three have one mind set, becoming NWA World Heavyweight Champion. On Sunday January 16th at “Final Resolution” they will get their chance. RETURN OF THE ULTIMATE X MATCH For the TNA X Division Championship Champion Petey Williams vs. The Phenomenal AJ Styles vs. Chris Sabin Click here for a comprehensive history (and photos) of past Ultimate X matches To steal a popular quote from the guy who sounds like Darth Vader in the commercial - "it's this Sunday night, live and exclusively on Pay-Per-View, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling presents...Final Resolution!" On a night that America's Most Wanted will attempt to shut down Team Canada Coach Scott D'Amore and take home the NWA World Tag Team Titles. On a night that The Alpha Male Monty Brown, DDP and Kevin Nash go on a quest to become the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. It's a night of many things, but perhaps one match is more anticipated than all others. Final Resolution will also present to you the latest installment of...the Ultimate X! Called the most innovative match in professional wresting in the last decade, the Ultimate X match features two giant steel cables crossing high above the ring, with the X Division Championship hanging from the center. Four steel scaffolds surround the ring, holding the structure in place. The first X Division Superstar to successfully scale the scaffolds, cross the cables, and pull down the gold walks out the champion! The Ultimate X Match made it's historic debut in TNA in August of 2003 and quickly became one of the most popular matches in professional wrestling, and judging by the results of past Ultimate X matches, this one is going to be a match that everybody will look back on. Past Ultimate X bouts have consisted of three to four participants, and in this one - you will see "The Future" Chris Sabin and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles challenging Team Canada's Petey Williams for TNA X Division Champion. Let's break down the match participant by participant: "The Future" Chris Sabin: "The Future" Chris Sabin is considered to be the king of the Ultimate X. He has competed in 4 Ultimate X bouts, winning 3 of them. Sabin has the advantage going in, as he has defeated the champion in Petey Williams in a past Ultimate X match. Sabin is one of the men responsible for Team NWA's victory in the World X Cup. He isn't perfect though, as last month at Turning Point he failed to defeat Petey Williams. But he put up a good fight, and defeated "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels on Friday’s Impact to earn this spot. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles: "The Phenomenal One" will finally have the opportunity to avenge his loss at Victory Road to the X Division Champion in Petey Williams with the gold on the line in this daredevil, high-wire match. Voted by fans as 2004 X Superstar of the Year and Mr. TNA (MVP), "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles' looks to begin 2005 by reclaiming the title he helped pioneer in TNA Wrestling. Styles' has also been Mr. TNA for two straight years. But as far as the match itself goes, this isn't Styles' first time entering this structure, as he took on the team of Michael Shane and Kazarian back in the summer of 2003. Styles' fell short due to the interference of his former bitter rival, Kid Kash. Shane and Kazarian then went on to become Co-X Division Champions. Styles' is considered one of the best by die-hard fans and even the wrestling media. He has battled with the best of them, and has been with TNA since their inception. He has the ability to change his moves in mid-air, which separates him from other competitors. He is TNA's only Triple Crown winner, and won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on two separate occasions, at such a young age. Whenever you watch a Styles' match, you’re going to be at the edge of your seat, as he always pulls out something new. Petey Williams: Petey Williams hails from the country of Canada, and is your current reigning and defending TNA X Division Champion of the world. He has the held the gold longer than any other man, and looks to continue that record this Sunday night at Final Resolution. His finisher in the Canadian Destroyer, a brutal sunset flip jumping piledriver was also awarded the Finisher of the Year. Petey Williams competed in Ultimate X3 along with Hector Garza and "The Future" Chris Sabin. Williams might be 0-1 in the Ultimate X, but he has defeated both Sabin and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles in title matches. Going into this match, it doesn't look good for the Champion, unless the Team Canada Coach in Scott D'Amore has something to say about it. All the die-hard TNA fans respect William's ability, but they do not like the relationship that he has with D'Amore. D'Amore constantly interferes in matches allowing William's to pick up the victory. Everybody knows that Williams can win with his talent alone, and does not need his coach’s help. What will go down this Sunday night at Final Resolution live on Pay-Per-View at 8PM ET from Orlando, Florida at Universal Soundstage 21? Will Petey Williams find a way to win? Will Chris Sabin remain the king of the Ultimate X? Or will the pioneer of the X Division, AJ Styles, regain the gold? Tune into Final Resolution this Sunday night to find out! NWA TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Team Canada vs. AMW On Friday's Impact, America's Most Wanted cleared one more hurdle in their road to reclaiming the NWA World Tag Team Title by beating current champions Bobby Roode and Eric Young of team Canada in a non-title match. As a result, and by order of Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes, Chris Harris and James Storm have earned a shot at the title at Final Resolution on January 16 live and exclusively on Pay-Per-View! Since losing the tag team gold to the Naturals this past summer, AMW has been on a long and brutal road to recapture the titles. Their journey included the final chapter in their bitter war with Triple X that ended at Turning Point in the Six Sides of Steel. Now, with the Triple feud behind them, AMW are set to chase history by attempting to once again become NWA World Tag Team Champions at Final Resolution. When reached for comment regarding the impending NWA World Tag Team Title match at Final Resolution, Team Canada Coach Scott D'Amore stated: "America's Most Wanted gets the title shot against my troops at Final Resolution? Are you kidding me? I ask you this - besides kissing up to Dusty Rhodes, what has AMW done to deserve a title shot against us? Sure, they survived Triple X - BARELY. I say one match doesn't make title contenders. Let Harris and Storm climb back up the ladder like Bobby Roode and Eric Young had to do to. This title match all comes down to one thing - Dusty's continued biased against Canadians. And I'll leave you with this - I will make this guarantee right now...AMW doesn't even make it to Final Resolution on January 16. Then who will Dusty Rhodes have to face my Canadians? The answer is NO ONE!" Tune into Final Resolution on January 16 to see America's Most Wanted challenge Team Canada for the NWA World Tag team Titles, live and exclusively on Pay-Per-View! SPECIAL REFEREE: RODDY PIPER Jeff Hardy vs. Scott Hall Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes sent word to TNAwrestling.com that he has added Jeff Hardy vs. Scott Hall to this Sunday’s packed Final Resolution card with the legendary Rowdy Roddy Piper to serve as special guest referee! “There will be no funny business this Sunday at Final Resolution,” said Piper “I will make sure Scott Hall can’t hide behind his friends, Hardy will get his shot at revenge” Due to ongoing legal issues, Hector Garza was removed from the bout – opening the door for the Charismatic Enigma to step up in an attempt to exact some revenge on his ongoing nemesis. It was Hall who helped cost Hardy the NWA World Heavyweight Title at Victory Road, and the battled continued at Turning Point in the main event. It was also at Turning Point that TNA handed defeat to the Kings of Wrestling, who now appear on the verge of near-collapse as Kevin Nash is determined to find a way to get past DDP and The Alpha Male this Sunday in order to defeat Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. After all the chaos the “Kings” caused TNA, Hardy is looking for payback this Sunday against Scott Hall. The Charismatic Enigma knows the time is now to strike against the teetering alliance of Hall, Nash and Jarrett – and he’s even got Roddy Piper watching his back! Piper is a longtime veteran of ring wars against Jarrett, Hall and Nash and has seen the destruction they can cause. The legend wasn’t about to let it happen to TNA and will be the special guest referee to enforce the rules this Sunday at Final Resolution. PLUS: Raven vs. Erik Watts Dustin Rhodes vs. Kid Kash Primetime vs. Sonjay Dutt 3Live Kru vs. Shane, Kazarian, Daniels Plus, check out the FREE 30 minute live preshow before the Pay-Per-View with Johnny B. Badd and Sonny Siaki vs. The Naturals and newcomer Chris Candido in action! FINAL RESOLUTION THIS SUNDAY ON PAY-PER-VIEW! The Full Card is Set! Nashville, TN (January 14, 2005) – This Sunday, January 16th Total Nonstop Action Wrestling will present a 3-Hour Mega event “Final Resolution.” After the airing of “iMPACT!” on FSN the final card for Sunday is now final. Three men will be chasing a chance to fight for the most coveted belt in professional wrestling, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page & “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown will face-off, and the winner will take on NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett later that night for the gold. The X-Division Championship will be on the line in the most innovative match in professional wrestling, the Ultimate X. Champion and Team Canada Captain Petey Williams will face arguably the greatest X-Division competitor of all-time, AJ Styles, and a man that has won a record three Ultimate X matches, Chris Sabin. This high-flying action is unique to TNA Wrestling and already has the locker room waiting anxiously for the bout. NWA World Tag Team Champions, Team Canada (Bobby Roode & Eric Young), will step into the six-sided ring against America’s Most Wanted (“Wildcat” Chris Harris & “Cowboy” James Storm) to defend the titles. AMW is coming off one of the greatest matches in the history of professional wrestling and now have their eyes firmly set on re-capturing the Tag titles. Can Team Canada keep the belts from the hottest tag team in the world? “The Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy will try and avenge his world title loss at “Victory Road” against a man that interfered to cost him that title, Scott Hall. To make sure there is no outside interference this time around Director of Authority “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, has named Rowdy Roddy Piper the special guest referee. Who is to blame in a shocking love triangle and just who is really aliened with who? This Sunday, maybe the score will be settled as Raven takes on Erik Watts. Will DDP be a factor? Pride and disrespect are the themes as Kid Kash faces Dustin Rhodes. Kash respects no authority in TNA and Dustin Rhodes fights for the pride of his father’s name. Two of the most exciting X-Division competitors and pay-per-view MVP’s will square off as Primetime faces Sonjay Dutt. Primetime makes his pay-per-view return after shocking the world at “Turning Point” and Sonjay Dutt always seems to up his game on the big stage. This is a contest not to be missed. 3Live Kru(Ron “The Truth” Killings, Konnan & BG James) will compete in six-man tag action against Kazarian, Michael Shane & “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. Trinity, Traci & Jonny Fairplay will compete in the DOA’s challenge. Two will stay with TNA Wrestling and try to become the DOA’s assistant and one will not. Who will “Survive”? All this action and more is available on pay-per-view Sunday, January 16th 8PM ET/ 5PM PT for only $29.95 SRP. This is more wrestling for less money than anywhere else in the world! The alternative for the true wrestling fan, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling prides itself on delivering quality, family programming that is clean, innovative, cutting edge and with the high-risk, high-flying athleticism that TNA Wrestling is known for. TNA “Xplosion” is a syndicated program that airs on Empire Sports Network, Sunshine Network, Comcast Sports South and other local channels (check local listings).
  9. Hey, it made the front page of the New York Post! If that can't be considered news than what can!?
  10. You would think he'd be surrounded by advisors and security personal at all times and that one of them might have suggested that it wasn't the best idea before he went out in public like a moron...
  11. n/m, I think. I restarted my computer (should have done that to begin with) got the box again and selected "default" and this time all my settings came back as they were. Still pretty weird...
  12. OK, I'm pretty annoyed right now. I just opened Firefox like normal but instead of opening the browser a box came up that said I needed to select a profile to use or something. The one avaliable in the list was "default", so I tried choosing that but it says that it hasn't been created yet or something. I really don't know what all this is about and just want to get on the WWW, so I just clikc "create a profile" which is called default user or something and the box that says "don't show this window when starting" or something is checked. I'm enraged to find out all my settings have disappeared. My bookmarks, icon preferences, installed plugins, everything is back to as it would be at default. What the hell is going on here? I didn't think much when the box came up and just wanted to ignore it so I could get on Firefox but what the hell did I just do? And most importantly how do I get my settings back? Please help!
  13. THIS FRIDAY ON IMPACT - THE COUNTDOWN TO SUNDAY'S FINAL RESOLUTION BEGINS WITH SABIN VS. DANIELS! This Friday on Impact, the third competitor in the Ultimate X Match at Final Resolution will be determined when The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels faces Chris Sabin! Who will advance to take on Petey Williams and AJ Styles in the Ultimate X on January 16? Tune into Impact to find out! Also on Impact, one-half of the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Team Canada's Eric Young, will take on one-half of America's Most Wanted in James Storm! Team Canada and AMW clash before their huge title match at Sunday's Victory Road! In addition, The Phenomenal AJ Styles, Primetime Elix Skipper and Dustin Rhodes will all be in action on Friday's Impact as we count down the hours until the Sunday Pay-Per-View!
  14. Oh, now you've done it.
  15. Yankees and Red Sox. It's tough for the O's to compete in a division with the equivalent of the US and USSR having an arms race during the Cold War...
  16. I'm a conservative living in Montgomery County, MD, the suburbs of Washington DC. That's pretty much all that needs to be said. Thanks to the more rural Eastearn Shore and Appalachian plains areas of the state we do have a Republican governor in Robert Ehrlich (god bless him) but everything he tries either gets blocked or overturned by the Democratic senate. As for my district I agreed with pretty much every policy point of the Republican candidate Chuck Floyd, who was of course clobbered like 80% to 20% by the freshman liberal trial lawyer Chris Van Hollen who "represents" us.
  17. You're Welcome. http://www.rohwrestling.com/MessageBoard/t...p?TOPIC_ID=3390
  18. I really like Shadow's idea for the booking of the EC match. This PPV is no doubt a one match show, but it's a BIG match. If some of you are like me and think a crowd can really help bring up a PPV (ala shows in Canada) then this should be one to get since the Puerto Rican crowd should be really into things. The undercard is shitty but since there aren't many it looks like the EC will be a long match. Kane, Hassan, Lita, Eugene/Regal and Benjamin are easy picks. As for the EC: Triple H is the easy pick to win and the one I'm going with. I'm curious to see how they protect everyone in this match. How will Batista be eliminated? How will Orton? What will happen to Edge? Who will get into it with HBK? Could Benoit have a better shot than we think? Could someone other than HHH win? How would HHH be eliminated? How will his feuds with Batista and Orton be furthered? It's a match filled with intrigue and 6 of the top workers on RAW. I think it's a must see. I would be hesitant to pay $35 to watch the show but I'll be headed to a local Hooters to watch the show and expect to enjoy it.

    Abyss to WWE?!

Victory Road did about 35,000 and Turning Point about 25,000 by most reports, so the truth is somewhere in the middle!
  20. Styles

    Abyss to WWE?!

Full story from Wade Keller's insider report (bolded mine): Sounds like TNA has the right to be pissed. He got the raised he wanted and was still stubborn about it. Hopefully he lands in WWE or else he screwed himself here...
  21. They may not need to be "liberated," but they sure are hell need to be enlightened a whole lot. Enlightened Thanks, I didn't know what "enlightened" meant until now..... That suprises no one...
  22. Why am I not suprised? Rush was speculating today that Kerry wants to disassociate himself from this whole fiasco because he seriously wants to run again in '08. Yeah, like that will put butts in the voters booth. I guess Gore went through the same thing before coming to his senses (sort of).
  23. Lest you forget, Bush's approval ratings skyrocketed above 90% in the weeks following 9/11 and stayed I believe around 70% before the Iraq war. Was it that long ago?
  24. Oh, well that's good that Kerry authorizes attacking AFTER we've been hit. Bush aptly said he will not seek a permission slip to defend America and that's why he won. We need to get the bad guys before they get us again, that should be the lesson of 9/11. Anyway, there's no point in rehashing a Bush/Kerry argument. Kerry lost because of a massive amount of reasons. I'm curious who both parties are looking at in 08. Hopefully we don't see this: http://i.euniverse.com/funpages/cms_content/6660/2008c.swf

    Abyss to WWE?!

I'm interested in hearing a little more about justcoz's source.... I think his source is actually TNA's publicity minister: There is no need for concern. Abyss is still very much under TNA contract. Truly he shall remain a part of the TNA roster for many years to come. WWE is suffering a great defeat at the hands of TNA, already 500,000 buyrates recorded for Turning Point, truly the greatest PPV in the history of wrestling, Jarrett praise be. There is no truth to the lies spread by the infidel propogandists of Meltzer and Scherer of the departures of Johnny Swinger or others, still loyal members to the TNA revolution army. In fact, notable WWE wrestlers such as Kurt Angle and Triple H have committed suicide at the gates of Universal Studios in a cowardly display of fear. If others do not follow, they will be butchered at the hands of the TNA army and slaughtered by its endless arsenal of cookies and balloons. And merciful Jarrett be willing, TNA shall truly crush their spirit and their ratings in 2005 as TNA attains a great victory over WWE.
