  1. Great PPV, tonight. But so much feedback.....ah well, let's get started anyway. This should be fun! TUXEDO MATCH: Jivin Jim Ross vs. Jim Cornette - Very fun match, and a really entertaining way to start off what would prove to be a VIOLENT Pay-Per-View. The Incredible Jivin JR - complete with green paint - was just GOLD. I also loved that the camera had to quickly cut away from the post-match celebration when JR got so caught up in the celebration that he started licking himself. Nice. The Parka vs. JAE - Excellent match. The back-and-forth nature of the contest was just so well done, and the action got so unpredictable at points that I really wasn't sure who would win. The spot with Coach getting hit in the head with a television monitor was hilarious, and added a good sense of humor to a match that was all INTENSITY~! otherwise. The fact that Parka fought back harder against JAE's taunts did a good job putting him over as a hard-fighting face. The ending was also well done, with Rick saving Parka from what could have been a terrible post-match beatdown. The storylines between all of LPYC's characters continue to intertwine and grow more interesting by the week. PARENTAL INDISCRETION II: Rick Edwards vs. SB87 vs. Nate vs. Mikey - Holy shit, this was just an awesome match. Seriously. The action came full force throughout the entire contest with very few breaks! All of the high-impact moves and crazy risks really put over the dangerous nature of the match, and did a tremendous job in setting the stage for the rest of the "Emperor of Death" tournament. The ending with the Doomsday Kick off the platform - followed by the high moonsault - was beyond sick! I also really liked SB87 throwing a fit afterwards, even against the wishes of his teammates. He's definitely becoming destined for great things. It was good to see Rick finally get back to the ring, and show he hasn't lost a step at all! TWO-OUT-OF-THREE LIGHTTUBE LOG CABIN MATCH: Drek Stone vs. Johnny Jackson - My god, Drek Stone got screwed! Besides the part where I started choking because of my complete and utter outrate at the Mad Cappa's antics, I thought the match was handled VERY nicely. It wasn't as bloody as many of the other EoD First Round matches turned to be, which did a fine job of setting it apart by itself. It had a lot of nice action - there definitely seemed to be a genuine struggle between Jackson and Drek whenever it came time to throw one through a log cabin - and the ending did a great job of putting over both the Drek/Cappa feud AND Johnny Jackson as a possible singles wrestler. BARBED WIRE BOARD MATCH: Hoff vs. Scotty Static - I really loved the story this match carried, with Hoff afraid to even get near the barbed wire at the beginning. The dickish-heel antics of using side headlocks in what should be a BLOODY hardcore match are genius. Then, at some point, Hoff just seemed to snap, and become bone-chillingly comfortable at using the barbed wire to his advantage. The action near the end, with Hoff absolutely dominating Scotty, was a little disturbing, which was just perfect in the context of this tournament. But, for as good as Hoff was, it was good to see Scotty sonewhat prove himself in that ring as well. He managed to really bring it to Hoff and, in the end, looks to be a better singles wrestler because of it! FANS BRING THE WEAPONS: Gunner Sharps vs. Vitamin X - Solid match! I was definitely impressed with Gunner's overwhelming intensity against Vitamin X AND Stephen Popick, and I eagerly await the time when he's finally able to get his hands on Hoff. The match concept was very creative, with some really good spots - the rubber chicken with marbles, the fork stabbing - and, of course, the MOTHER FUCKING IMPACT SPEAR TO HELL THROUGH A GLASS WALL ARGH!!!!!! Once again, another EoD match was able to deliver on its promise of blood and violence! Really good! UM......UH.....CHRISTMAS LIGHTS MATCH: Calvin Szechstein vs. Leon Rodez - Very well done for the rushed time frame that Chuck had to send it in. Calvin really looked like a huge force to be reckoned with in the rest of the EoD tournament, and the ending did a good job in protecting the characters of both men. Rodez, being the quicker of the two, was getting the advantage and looking to end it quickly, but Calvin - being the veteran that HE is - was able to use his ring expertise to escape it just in time. Again, this actually turned out to be a good match.....despite the fact that I'm still not sure what the stipulation was. FOUR-CORNERS LIGHTTUBE MATCH: Sly Sommers vs. The Cuban Wall - GREAT match! I loved how they tried to start the match out in a technical way, but completely degenerated into trying to hurt the other guy as much as possible. Some of the spots - like the powerslam onto the chairs, the forceful swings of the lighttubes, drop toe hold THROUGH the lightbulb - were just beautifully sick. The momentum shifts of the match were really well done, and it was nice to see just how much both Sly and Cuban wanted to advance into the next round. The SlyleDriver through the lighttube title was the best way to end a match that had already had so much destruction! The ending with Sly speaking into the camera with taunts for Calvin just put the icing on the cake. Jay Darring vs. Chris Stevens - OMG MATCH OF THE YEAR!!! Global Party XChange vs. Hell's Hitmen - Really liked the prematch sneak attack from Black T towards GPX. It showed a nice bit of continuity from the match on HeldDown, and really set the stage nicely for a serious feud between the two teams. GPX managing to even kick out after the chairshots really put them over nicely as inspirational underdogs but, naturally, Jingus and The Sadist were just too strong for GPX to overcome. This match focused on the strengths of every team involved - Hell's Hitmen as the sadistic heels, GPX as the hard-fighting faces, and Black T as the arrogant champs - and did a tremendous job of continuing the impressive development of the Tag Team Division. Panther vs. The Hand – I really don’t know how many times I’ve said it by now, so I’ll just repeat myself once again. Papacita’s work is amazing. Ever since I’ve joined the OAOAST, I’ve really been feeling the Papa/Bryte/Tina/Hand storyline, and tonight was no exception. The promo at the beginning with Panther/Joanie actually felt emotionally heart-felt, and the match itself was just awesome. There was some real tension between Panther and The Hand, and this was conveyed every time they struggled for a weapon or tried to choke each other with that steel chain. The ending with Tina and Panther finally reuniting was such a nice moment on such a bloody PPV. I can’t wait to finally see the HUGE Panther/Chris Bryte match. What a way to build up a match! Johnny Jackson vs. Jay Darring – WAZ ALL KINDS OF AWESOME~! WOW~! 100,000 THUMBTACKS MATCH: Gunner Sharps vs. Johnny Jackson – Very good match. Like the others, it continued to portray the absolute carnage of the EoD tournament. I liked how Jackson came into the match on-fire, hoping to end it as quickly as possible. We even saw a hardcore side of him that we don’t usually see. It was nice to see that he wasn’t afraid to use the thumbtacks. But Gunner, keeping his intensity full-throttle, pounded back, and it wasn’t long before we got yet another sick finish with the “All Guns Blazing” straight into the thumbtacks! I really think Jackson’s reputation was improved with his efforts in the DeathMatch tournament, and Gunner wound up looking as strong, if not stronger, than ever. FANS BRING THE WEAPONS: Sly Sommers vs. Calvin Szechstein – Ah, we finally get the match that everyone has been waiting for. I loved it. Really intense, and perfectly mirroed the hatred these two guys had grown for each other over the past few months. And the weapon ideas some of these fans had….wiffleball bat with thumbtacks?! Awesome. And the fight around the arena was just crazy! The salt in the wound and the boiling-hot water from Sly were particularly brutal, and really painted Sly in an angry light of someone that would do ANYTHING to win! I really dug the insanely violent ending with the broken glass/thumbtack jawbreaker. That actually made me cringe from reading it! Both Sly Sommers and Calvin Szechstein looked like monsters in this match, and I really can’t wait until they fight again! FOUR CORNERS OF PAIN: Gunner Sharps vs. Rick Edwards – Fine, fine contest. Very creative concept, and the execution was handled especially well. Some of the bumps were just so horrific, which continued to establish this tournament as one of the most bloodiest things the OAOAST has ever seen! Gunner and Rick absolutely refused to hold anything back and, truth be told, Rick looked like a star. Despite the Cain interference, despite the fact that he could barely stand…..he kept fighting. Kicking out of a lighttube table crash – just crazy! The fact that even Gunner, through all his overwhelming intensity, was starting to worry for the well-being of Rick was a nice touch. OAOAST TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: Black T vs. The New New Midnight Express – Great tag team action, and an actual welcome change from the brutality that we’ve gone through with the rest of the night. This Tag Match definitely had some nice technical action, with the perfect amount of tension right at the end. The back-and-forth nature of the title match was just terrific and, once again, Black T proves their utter dominance in the Tag Division. SOME…..UH…..KIND OF CAGE MATCH! EMPEROR OF DEATH FINALS: Hoff vs. Axel – I understand that the match wasn’t near done, but what was here was REALLY good. The beginning with Hoff holding the gun was just crazy, and that kind of tense action really kept up throughout the entire contest. The hostility between Hoff and Axel was really expressed well. You really got a sense that these guys wanted to injure each other – hell, they wouldn’t have minded if they killed each other – which is a true testament to how well the feud had been built up. The ending with the Superfly Splash off the cage was AWESOME, and completely put over Hoff’s victory over the fear he had in the beginning of the night. I know the match was incomplete but, again, what was here was very solid. OAOAST HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Zack Malibu vs. Crystal – Oh man, the ending of this thing just shocked me. I was sure Crystal was finally going to win the title here, and was in complete shock when Zack actually managed to hold onto the title by the skin of his teeth. Still, the fact that Crystal had come SO close to the title – and had fought SO hard throughout the match – continues to put anticipation at a fever-pitch for the day she’ll finally be able to defeat Zack for the championship. Very well done Main Event. The action was fast, and like in the Tag Match, I really welcomed the technical aspect of the match that was a fresh change from the brutality of the rest of the night. Like the Crystal/Zack match at School’s Out, this match was yet another mat classic. The near falls, the reversals – everything worked so well together! Amazing job! NOTES: As always, I need to give Papacita huge props on the graphics. Lots of Steven Joseph tonight. As controversial as his segments were, they were still very well done. I’m hesitantly interested to see where he’s going with this new INTEN5E stable. And, even though I could still see his turn on Bill Watts and formation with the masked men from a mile away, I was completely shocked with the identities of these guys. Nice surprise. And the promos – from Rick/Parka to Caboose/Spider-Man – were very entertaining, and did such a good job of setting up future angles. Amazing PPV tonight, guys! Even if the order was….not so great. You know the drill by now. Any comments on the Drek Stone/Mad Cappa Hell-in-the-Cell match tonight would be GREATLY, GREATLY appreciated! I really want to know what everyone thought of it! And….just to throw this out there…..Drek is currently lacking an opponent for AngleSlam. If anybody is interested in feuding with Drek for the month of August, please feel free to PM me.
  2. On the positive side, that was quite the Superfly Splash from Hoff. ..... ..... .....just trying to be upbeat!
  3. I do not see anything in those PMs that suggest that the heel turn should happen immediately after the Drek Stone/Mad Cappa blowoff. I don't see anything that suggests the heel turn should happen immediately before the blowoff either. I'm not yelling at you. Trying to embarrass you in public was never my intention. But I'm really disappointed with how everything turned out. That really was supposed to have the feel-good, hero-like ending of the Mad Cappa finally defeating Drek Stone. But, with Cappa suddenly joining INTEN5E in only a matter of minutes, the entire thing has been tainted. Like I said, I worked hard on this feud - and the Hell in a Cell match, in particular - and, at this point, the entire thing looks insignificant. Because, suddenly, Cappa has turned heel. I still think it would have been nice if you could have at least PMed me a few days ago and just told me what you had planned for Cappa after the match. Like I said, I had been controlling his character for three months - I had laid out the entire feud in such a way that it would have a really positive ending - but suddenly found myself shellshocked because the attention was QUICKLY taken away from the blowoff match I had built up. Again, the purpose of this isn't to embarrass you. Perhaps you're right, and it might have been better to PM you with this. But either way, I still am really am disappointed right now with the effects the INTEN5E segments had on my match, and I wanted to make that known. I don't know why the Cappa portion of the INTEN5E revelation couldn't have waited for HeldDown.
  4. What?! Nothing was fixed. It now makes even less sense. The whole purpose of the match is that Cappa is a super face. The fans DESPERATELY want to cheer Cappa and see him overcome Drek Stone, a guy that's made The Mad Cappa's life a living hell for the past three months. Now, suddenly, Cappa reveals himself to be a member of INTEN5E and, for all intents and purposes, is pretty much heel. Why in the hell would the fans be cheering him as if he was a super face in the match immediately after Cappa's revelation? Not only that, but it seriously takes away from Cappa's hero celebration. He finally overcame Drek Stone, he finally won back his Italian Championship, he finally did all that.....but is bringing the gold back to Stephen Popick? That goes FAR, FAR away from the feel-good ending I was shooting for with that. And, just so we're sure....even if the INTEN5E revelation comes AFTER the Drek/Cappa match, suddenly my Hell-in-the-Cell blowoff becomes insignificant. Almost as if it never happened because, only a few minutes later, Cappa has dropped everything - his joy over beating Drek, his celebration with his fans - to become a member of Popick's stable. I don't understand this. I've been controlling Cappa's character for the past three months, trying to really build up this feud to be something special. Tonight was the culmination of the entire thing. And it got pushed to the side for Cappa to suddenly become a heel. And I wasn't even notified of what was going on, despite the fact that, again, I had been controlling Cappa's character since April. It would have been nice if I had at least been hinted at to the direction of where Cappa's character would be going that night, so I could plan the match accordingly. The way it looks right now, it doesn't really make any sense AND it takes away from the significance of what the Hell-in-the-Cell match SHOULD have been. Sorry, but I worked hard on building the Cappa/Drek feud for the huge blow-off match tonight - and, in only a matter of minutes, it wound up losing all of its importance.
  5. Agreed. Many things just didn't seem to flow at all. Cappa goes through absolute hell in his Hell-in-the-Cell match with Drek Stone.....has dried blood smeared all over his face.....is completely exhausted........then is suspiciously fine for the next segment with Stephen Joseph. The Axel thing.....well.....that came out of nowhere, when it could have actually been a VERY powerful return for Axel. And the end of the Emperor of Death tournament? It probably could have used something else besides "HOFF WON THE TOURNAMENT", then a quick cut to something else. I don't know. It just seems like Part II was slapped together in a very odd way. Things weren't where they should have been, parts of it were thrown out of order, noticeable continuity errors....as much as I wanted Part II up tonight, I would have definitely understood if you decided to take a little longer to make sure everything was set up well. The matches were tonight were excellent. I'll write my full thoughts on that later. But the pacing of the show....well, I have some issues with it. Including how my own segments were treated, but this isn't the time or the place for that.
  6. I'm hoping Part II of the Pay-Per-View is still being posted tonight, as well.....
  7. A PPV scheduled for Saturday night.....and it still hasn't aired by Sunday afternoon? I'm outraged. Someone better give me my money back!
  8. The Mets need a BAT. For as weak as their rotation and their bullpen may look on the outside, they were both still holding up remarkably well. These weren't the divisions of the team that needed fixing. A good percentage of the games this season have ended with the Mets only giving up one to three runs. It's the fact that none of them can fucking HIT that's the problem. Absolutely nobody on that team is a clutch player. When the big hits are needed, nobody can seem to get them. Piazza chooses to watch the third strike sail across the plate instead of deciding to swing. Cameron likes to hack at the ball wildly, hoping that he might be able to possibly get a piece of it. These are supposed to be our POWER players - the guys we rely on to bring the team back from a deficit, and get the big game-winning run. The ones that are actually supposed to insure that the Mets can score more than ONE OR TWO RUNS a game. But, as we can all tell, they're not doing this. Would we be in the same situation today - a complete lack of clutch hitting and productive scoring - if they had actually made a solid attempt to acquire Vladimir Guerrero in the offseason? Who knows. All I can see for sure is that the pitching so far has not been a major problem. The starting rotation, for the most part, has actually done a very fine job. I can't count how many times Glavine has been screwed out of a deserved win this season, because the players can't do what they're paid to do - and that's hit. But sure, Kris Benson and Victor Zambrano will solve all the Mets problems. The problems that really had nothing to do with pitching in the first place. By the time Wilpon realizes that he needs somebody with an actual big bat, it'll be too late. But then again, I'm sure Mo Vaughn is just waiting by the phone to get a call back. Wilpon will bring back those big bats - without actually spending money, of course. The ineptitude of the Mets front office shocks me. Which is a shame, because I try so hard to be a Mets fan.
  9. *raises hand* Did it already. I wrote it with pen and paper though, so I'll be able to change the format when I type it up.
  10. Oh, man. You think THIS is bad? Do you remember the thread started soon after WrestleMania about the emotional nature of Benoit's win? Just in case you don't, Who cried like a little bitch when Benoit won the title?
  11. Just so Popick knows ahead of time, I'm going to have no choice but to hand in the Hell-in-a-Cell match sometime Saturday night. I'm currently on vacation, and I only have limited access to a laptop for a few minutes at a time. I'm going to finally be back home on Saturday so, as soon as I unpack, I'll type the match up and hand it in. I already wrote the entire thing with pen and paper - which was definitely a fun time - so it's all ready to transfer onto the computer when I get home Saturday. Just leaving this as a heads-up to anyone that might be waiting on my match... ....and as for the Hell-in-a-Cell situation, I didn't really think about that. I guess I'll have a crane lower the cell around the two guys. As soon as I read NS mention the trouble about the cell being lowered in an outside place, I slapped my forehead. Shit.
  12. Quick feedback this week! Well......kinda quick! But......not really! -Great heel promo at the beginning of the show. I loved Zack going absolutely crazy on Crystal - and the OAOAST, in general. That should really be an awesome match at "License To Pin." -Pretty good match between Rodez/Stephen Joseph. I was a little surprised to see Popick win cleanly, especially after Rodez seemed to be getting somewhat of a push in recent weeks, but it did its job in starting to reestablish Popick's credibility. The ending afterwards was nice as well, and I continue to be interested on where this mystery men angle could be going. -Very interesting angle between Rick, Parka, and JAE. LPYC continues to bring the goods in what really has become an excellent OAOAST soap-opera. Still, I'm hoping that Rick goes back to defending his X-Title sometime in the near future. He needs to prove that, even throughout this whole ordeal, his athletic ability has not weakened........or has it? -Nice match between Candie and Krista. However, as we all know....that wasn't really the main story of this segment . The promo that Krista cut afterwards was GREAT! The twists that the story told were nicely done, and I was really thoroughly entertained the entire way through. The bit with the production assistants afterwards was just as fun. The entire situation was just so original, so major props for that. Awesome. -The NNMX/GPX match was very solid. I loved the Black T and Hell's Hitmen beatdowns at the end. I'm sure the WildCard match next week is going to be GREAT. The stories between these four teams has been set up so well at this point. -Nice match between Hoff and Crystal, leading into a VERY fun tag team match with Hoff/Zack vs. Crystal/Gunner. I was really feeling the intensity of the contest, and the entire thing did a great job of continuing to put over these two feuds. -I already told PFL what I thought about the Sly/Drek match. I loved the story of the match, with both guys trying to outclass each other technically in the beginning, but then resorting to brawling, and eventually potential match-ending power moves. The mean streak of Drek, trying to go for the open wound of Sly, was nicely done, and I really liked how the intensity of the match kept up until the very end. I'm hoping I handled the post-match Drek/Cappa brawling segment fine......well, besides the fact that I had Coach hype up the Hell-in-a-Cell match taking place in 13 days. As far as I know, there's no PPV next Wednesday.....stupid math. -Really enjoyed the Bryte/Hand vs. J-Dogg/Panther match. The non-stop action made it very entertaining to read, and seriously, the ending was shocking. Panther's frustration over J-Dogg's possible death was handled nicely, and I can't wait to see what he does with Chris Bryte and the Hand once he manages to get his hands on them. I just hope the idea that Hand could be charged for....you know....murder.....is acknowledged next week. The Taker/Bearer/Heyman/Cement Crypt angle proved how bad these death angles COULD be. Then again, from seeing the storyline Papacita has managed to create between Panther, Bryte, Tina, the Hand, and J-Dogg in the past few months, I'm sure he knows more than the WWE writers about having storylines, you know, make sense. Good show tonight, everybody. I really continue to look forward to "License to Pin: This Ain't Oz"! As always, any feedback on my segments - the Drek/Sly promo near the beginning of the show AND the Drek/Cappa fistfight at the end of the Italian title match - would be greatly appreciated. And make sure to give some feedback on the Drek/Sly match as well. Just an insane amount of effort went into that thing.....again, huge props to PFL for handling that match
  13. I shamefully suck at simple math. That's all for now. I'll have full comments on the show later.
  14. But even on Raw, he was a Tag Team Champion almost right before he left. Before he was traded, he was even getting the chance to Main Event the show once in a while. When he was traded to Smackdown, many RVD fans had a sigh of relief because they just knew he would get a better push on Smackdown. The roster pool over there was considerably weaker, so they would have no choice but to push someone with the crowd support that Van Dam had already established. But, now that's he been on Smackdown for a few months, what's happened? He really has jobbed to everyone in the U.S. Title division, he hasn't won a title yet in the three months he's been there, he's constantly getting pushed on the side angle-wise for those that receive much less attention than he does, was left off a Smackdown card in favor of Hardcore Holly and Billy Gunn, and he's now been stuck on Velocity duty for the past two weeks. Let's not also forget that, at the Great American Bash, he was eliminated first in the Fatal Fourway match. That's just the icing on the cake. Now, how could his career have been better off on Raw - in which the roster pool was SO much more deeper - than it is on Smackdown? Vince's opinion of him couldn't have changed so quickly in such a short amount of time. Van Dam's push since being traded has just plummeted - curiously, at a time, in which Angle's political pull is beginning to rise AND at a time when this wrestling show sorely needs a top face to capture people's interest. Now, we hear news that Angle recently used his stroke to get Van Dam to job to his own protege Luther Reigns at a show in Japan. Why should Angle have any effect on this decision? And why is Luther going over Van Dam cleanly in Japan, yet still getting punked out by John Cena in the States? Might it be because Angle still doesn't like RVD, yet has become a fan of Cena? I mean, these are questions to think about. But then again, this could just be another one of those "xfiles sized conspiercy theory" dealies.
  15. Well, don't forget the problems that Angle has had with Van Dam in the past. Between the potato shots that busted Kurt open, Angle's wife deciding to publicly call RVD out on his "carelessness", the very stiff shots the two of them seemed to share whenever they wrestled together.....Kurt and Rob never really seemed to get along too well. Now, with stories of Angle's political ties in the locker room starting to rise, it's become pretty interesting that RVD's push is starting to really wane. Even in the face of signing a new contract, Van Dam has suddenly found himself stuck on Velocity - and suffering losses to Kurt's new protege in Luther Reigns. I'm not one to suddenly delve into conspiracy theories - but it's definitely something to look at.
  16. Boy, Angle sure knows how to pick those superstars, huh? Somebody give Kurt and Arn Anderson total control of the booking committee immediately. We'll have the top fan favorites on Smackdown - Billy Gunn, Hardcore Holly, AND Luther Reigns - in the Main Event in no time!
  17. NEW DETAILS SURFACE by PAUL SIMMS Issue of 2004-07-26 Posted 2004-07-19 Vice President Dick Cheney cursed at Sen. Patrick J. Leahy, Vermont Democrat, in a confrontation on the Senate floor while members were having their annual group picture taken earlier this week. . . . According to [an] aide, Mr. Cheney . . . responded with a barnyard epithet, urging Mr. Leahy to perform an anatomical sexual impossibility. —The Washington Times. After Mr. Cheney successfully delivered the epithet and started to walk away, Mr. Leahy—sotto voce—referred to the Vice-President using a term more often heard in taverns and locker rooms than in the august Senate chamber, a term that refers to a sexual act commonly acknowledged as taboo among all cultures that proscribe incestuous contact between a mother and a son. Mr. Cheney—apparently hearing Mr. Leahy’s remark—stopped, turned, and invited his colleague from across the aisle to engage in a sexual act that is considered a felony in some states, and which involves oral-genital contact. Mr. Leahy then suggested that the president of the Senate take his gavel and use it to perform an act that, while not technically impossible in anatomical terms, would certainly be considered both unseemly and unhygienic, and which would require an unusual combination of single-minded ambition and physical relaxation. Mr. Cheney wasted no time in informing Mr. Leahy that he should feel free to perform yet another anatomical impossibility—this one involving aviation, a standard sexual act, and a rolling doughnut. At this point, according to observers, both statesmen decided—by seemingly unspoken mutual consent—to abandon the gutter patois of the common carnival worker and to resort instead to an eminently more quotable (but, to those not versed in the vagaries of hip-hop idiom, more confusing) exchange of viewpoints. “Oh, it’s like that?” Mr. Cheney queried. “Whut? Whut?” Mr. Leahy shot back. “Once again,” Mr. Cheney replied (quite obviously quoting a lyric from Ice Cube’s 1990 album, “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted”), “it’s on.” As a quick-thinking senatorial aide switched on the Senate’s public-address system and cued up the infamous “Seven Minutes of Funk” break, Mr. Leahy and Mr. Cheney went head-to-head in what can only be described as a “take no prisoners” freestyle rap battle. Most of the rhymes kicked therein cannot be quoted in a family publication, but observers gave Mr. Cheney credit for his deceptively laid-back flow. Mr. Leahy was applauded for managing to rhyme the phrases “unethical for certain,” “crude oil spurtin’,” and “like Halliburton.” Despite the fact that both participants brought their A-game and succeeded in dropping mad scientifics, the bout seemed to end in a draw. Unfortunately, as other senators (along with assorted aides and support-staff members) were casting their votes to decide the winner, using the admittedly subjective but generally accepted “Make some noise up in here!” protocols, Mr. Cheney and Mr. Leahy took the proceedings to what one aide accurately described as “the next level.” Edward M. Kennedy (D.-Mass.) was the first to notice that the two men were circling each other, Mr. Cheney brandishing a switchblade and Mr. Leahy the jagged neck of a broken bottle. “Oh, snap!” Mr. Kennedy recalls thinking at the time. “It’s getting kind of hectic up in this piece.” But before either of the aggrieved public servants could bust a potentially injurious move on his rival, cooler heads prevailed: a veteran Capitol Hill security guard pacified the bloodthirsty white men (Mr. Leahy first, then Mr. Cheney) with a shot from a tranquillizer gun. He then had them returned to their cages in the sub-basement of the Old Executive Office Building, where both men are kept and fed during non-business hours under the watchful eye of a volunteer from Washington’s National Zoo. (In a related story, an AM talk-radio host in Billings, Montana, who expressed his disappointment with the behavior of Mr. Cheney and Mr. Leahy—on the air, he asked his listeners, “Do we taxpayers really have time for this kind of crap?”—was fined five hundred thousand dollars for violating the F.C.C.’s recent, Senate-approved guidelines prohibiting explicit references to human excrement.) 18. I'm beginning to really dislike this RVD-Velocity Duty bullshit. If they don't give him a decent match at SummerSlam - especially with the gaping holes that desperately need filling on Smackdown - he should just say goodbye to them. If this is how they treat someone they WANT to resign....what the hell are they going to do afterwards? Anyway, it's good to see that Smackdown has gone back to being disgustingly mediocre again. By the way....when is Taker planning to get revenge on Paul Heyman anyway?
  19. Maybe they want to turn him heel. The trades have been hinting at it... hell, even THEY were hinting at it when Benoit/Edge were tag Champs. If they're trying to subtly hint at turning Edge heel, then I wouldn't have a problem with it. But it looks like WWE is still going with the Edge angle of taking down Evolution one-by-one. All indications are that they're banking him to be the #1 face on Raw in the near future through the fall and winter.....and this is doing nothing to help that. The only way they could get out of this "Edge picks off Evolution until we finally get to Edge/HHH" storyline is if they have Edge join Evolution - which now opens an all-new Pandora's Box of inconsistencies. So far, all I'm seeing from this Edge Intercontinental-Title-Run-into-Main-Event-Slot is piss poor planning. And it's becoming more imminent every week that this is very quickly ruining Edge's chances as a top face.
  20. What a non-sensical ending. Many fans are already disliking Edge. He's getting a solid number of boos in a considerable amount of arenas ALL over the country. The guy needs something to get the crowd back on his side. So what do they do? Have him cheat.....yet AGAIN....against a guy that people, for the most part, have been cheering more heavily than Edge. In what way does this make sense? It's only hurting Edge more in the end.
  21. Washington D.C. must have a special language I can't seem to decipher. I mean, first, Edge appears on the screen. Obviously, WWE has pre-programmed us to cheer for Edge, despite what we actually think of him. Yet, the fans here in D.C. started to boo! And then, Coach introduces us to the Divas yet again - in the moment we were ALL waiting for!! But again, these fans began to boo. What is this? Does "Boo" somehow mean "Yay" in Washington D.C.?! What a crazy town!!
  22. Oh, please. Stop the bitching. Kane's credibility is fine! ..... .....well, as long as he stays away from Lita.
  23. Hollywood Fashion Plate, I think your avatar is bringing up those "Log-in" screens. Mind changing it to something else?
  24. Sorry, but that Edge/Orton segment just wasn't intense enough. I can't buy Edge's anger. I can't buy Edge's rage. His fury hasn't truly hit me yet, simply because he hasn't used the most violent words in his vocabulary. How are we supposed to believe that Edge HATES Randy Orton if he hasn't yet called him a "dork"?
  25. I figure they're going to go with Orton/Edge for the Main Event. This week, they're probably going to go with Kane getting disqualified for poking Jericho in the eye. That's not exactly the best way to close out the show....
