  1. Now, now. For someone that bashes Rudo and Curry for ruining certain aspects of the WWE Folder, your last post doesn't seem to add anything productive to your crusading cause. I could see how this should have been used to spark some serious, thought-provoking discussion on wrestling - which is something that you crave and feel should be the absolute backbone of this very folder - but certainly, you could find a better way to get across your point. Thanks.
  2. Kane?! AS A MYSTERY OPPONENT?! *drops dead*
  3. I wonder if Regal is going to be surprised to see Kane come out. .....wait, did I just spoil it for anybody?
  4. Personally, I would emulate Garrison Cade. There's nothing easier. Just place a rock with a blond wig in front of the camera for two minutes. Insta-$$.
  5. Oh, god. This Raw thread is beginning to look like a "Very Special Episode." Drury, BBCW....you both are terrible. Now, just drop it so we can focus on the real pressing matters of tonight like Steven Richards in drag and Orton's My Little Pony.
  6. Which is why I addressed it to the growing number of people lately that seem to be wanting Eugene to suddenly drop the retarded gimmick so early. Even if Choken doesn't genuinely want it, it's something I felt should have been addressed anyway, and I'm glad he brought it up. It's much better to mention it here, in some kind of proper context, instead of starting an entirely meaningless new thread about it.
  7. Well, of course. The 100% serious roles that Edge and Angle have taken on have been MEGA hits. The fans clearly hated goofy Edge. Listen to the amazing response he gets right now! The serious face push hasn't hurt his progress one bit. And humorous Angle....ugh, the fans detested it. Quite frankly, they thought it insulted their intelligence, which is why the guy never got a reaction. Evil General Manager Angle has surely invoked both MORE crowd reactions and HIGHER ratings. I mean, why would Eugene be any different? WWE needs humor once in a while. And it needs characters that could be used for comic relief. There really isn't any point bumping them all off the face of the federation. There are enough serious wrestlers as it is. Dinsmore dropping the Eugene character and becoming just "plain, ol' Nick Dinsmore" would be a disaster at this point and time. Which is why it confuses me that so many people, not just yourself, are requesting it already.
  8. Cherry-picked quotes is more like it. So, in actuality, the interview went something like: REPORTER: So, Mr. Bonds, what do you think of the city of Boston? BONDS: I would never say Boston is too racist for me. I couldn't play there without absolutely loving the city. REPORTER: Fair enough. It's pretty well known that the fine people of Boston appreciate good players. Do you think you could handle the constant fan admiration that goes along with being a professional baseball in Boston? BONDS: Man, I don't think I could handle all the love and passion that's present in Boston. The people of Boston are just great, and always have been, but I don't think it's my kind of city. The media scrutiny, as much as I love everything about the media, might be a little too much. I'm listening to only what guys have said, but that's been going on ever since my dad [bobby] was playing baseball. I can't play like that. That's not for me, brother. REPORTER: Last question. Finally, Mr. Bonds, there are some people that accuse Boston of being a racist city. While the Ku Klux Klan have never even been close to being a predominant force in this city, do you worry that you could face any trouble? Burning courses or something of the sort? BONDS: Absolutely not. Bostoners are among some of the kindest people I've ever met. They treat everybody with the absolute utmost respect. I'm black. They don't build stuff for blacks. I don't think I'd see any burning crosses or anything like that if I ever moved to Boston. The people just have too much respect for themselves. REPORTER: Thank you, Mr. Bonds, for your time today. You will be fairly represented in tomorrow's paper. We promise. Now.....if the interview went like that.....you may have a point. But realistically, we both know that none of his quotes were taken out of context. In fact, I don't understand how any of his quotes in this article can even be cherry-picked. In what context are those quotes acceptable? In what context are those quotes even factually correct for 2004? Sometimes, just sometimes, the media isn't to blame for an athlete's absurd comments.
  9. If that's true, then Popick certainly looks stunning in that black blazer and white sweater.
  10. Fight Club The Usual Suspects Reservoir Dogs Se7en Dr. Strangelove Scarface Jaws The Godfather Taxi Driver To Kill A Mockingbird Apocalypse Now Citizen Kane The Shawshank Redemption Casablanca Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Godfather Part II
  11. Yes. The orders would go down from the President to the Secretary of Defense, otherwise known as going from Bush to Rumsfeld. Cheney wouldn't really be involved at all. Which does mean that Bush needs to give the initial order. .....I don't really understand the point you're driving at.
  12. When you know squat, can't do squat to prevent it, etc. Yeah, sure. Don't you think it'd be in the best interest of the United States for the President to be dealing with the situation hands-on, making the decision that need to be made, instead of sitting in a room? He knew that two planes had already hit the Twin Towers. He knew the country could be in grave danger. I think he knew a little more than squat at that point.... Except, of course, there was NOTHING he could do. You seem to be missing that. Jets WERE scrambled, but couldn't get there in time. You're forgetting the unknown variables at the time. During that morning, nobody really knew what targets had been hit and what targets were next. There were crazy rumors that Disneyworld had already been hit, the terrorists were targeting Camp David, etc. What President Bush SHOULD have done....from the instant moment he heard that we were under attack....was send jets to the prime locations of the country. He should have been out of that seat and making sure that defenses were immediately sent to the major cities of the country. New York City, Washington D.C., Los Angeles. We might not have known for sure what was going on, but those steps should have definitely been taken. Without an 11-minute wait. Because, if not for those 11 minutes, none of this would have happened. No, but those 11 minutes definitely could have been better utilized. And, despite your conservative roots, I would hope that even you could see that. "Screw the kids! Sure, he can't do anything to stop anything --- but SCREW them. Yeah, Secret Service might have wanted him to stay until they knew what was going so as to not leave him at more risk than necessary --- but that's immaterial" YEAH! There you go! Sitting in a school classroom in Florida - a location which the terrorists could have definitely discovered if they had done the proper research - is INFINITELY more safe than being whisked away on Air Force One. Forget the fact that Bush would practically be untraceable on Air Force One - yet still have the capabilities to meet with his top advisers. Forget the fact that the appointment to read to the children could have been handled calmly in under a minute. Forget all that. Surely, Bush made the right decision that morning because....well....it's Bush. And, again, in your world --- what would Bush have been able to do? Order the planes shot down because they MIGHT have been hijacked? Send jets to the major cities of the U.S. IMMEDIATELY just in case there was another hijacked plane on the way. Then, those hijacked planes could be shot down. Because, well.....if we already had several terrorist attacks that day, then suddenly see a plane flying by who's radar has been mysteriously shut off....I don't think it'd take a genius to discover that this plane might just not be safe after all. Screw maintaining calm and figuring out the situation --- blind irrational action is the answer! With thousands of lives at stake the way they were that morning, action certainly needed to be taken very quickly. At that point, he didn't have all day to try to "figure out the situation." I don't get it - how are you trying to justify his early inaction in that school? Coming with a plan to shoot down the planes that had their radar shut down, and the FAA couldn't get in contact with. Immediately sending defense jets to the major cities, just in case something had been planned. These are possible counterattacks - and counterattacks that could have been handled sooner than they were. Hmmm, go to war with Iraq - sending thousands of troops over there for a war in which there wasn't really any immediate threat. Months to plan our case, yet still had practically no world backing with the war. Something that wasn't immediately needed at the time, but something that nearly everyone knew would eventually turn into a difficult situation between the actual war AND the rebuilding of Iraq - I WOULD SAY THERE SHOULD BE INFO TO JUSTIFY IT. -Launching counterattacks on 9/11 when the country was still in turmoil and wrapped in deadly mystery, there was still the risk of so many people losing their lives that day, and trying to find a quick end to something that could have been a hell of a lot worse - PERHAPS THE SITUATION OF A SURPRISE TERRORIST ATTACK CALLS FOR A LITTLE LESS BACK-UP INFO THAN A DRAWN-OUT, PLANNED IN ADVANCE WAR!
  13. As opposed to immediately having conversations with your top advisers and coming up with the best tactical counterattack? His Chief of Staff was right there. Talking with the Vice-President, Secretary of Defense, etc. They were all just a few phone buttons away, and they could have possibly offered intelligent insight into getting the problem under control as quickly as possible. Surely this would have been the better tactic than Bush sitting in that classroom and thinking about it on his own.
  14. Standing up calmly, telling the children that you have important Presidential matters to attend to, promising them that you'll be back to read to them real soon, thanking them all for being there.....then nicely walking out of the room. There we go. We found a calm way to get Bush out of the classroom and deal with one of the most important matters that this country has ever dealt with. And....*gasp*.....it would have only taken a minute. Possibly less. It would have been absurdly easy for President Bush to have left the school without scaring all of the children. I really don't think that's a proper excuse for sitting there for 11 minutes and doing absolutely nothing while the country was in turmoil. Oh, I know. Good god, I am just such a terrible person. I would rather have the President of the United States dealing with the matter at hand - that being a devastating terror attack - instead of sitting in a room and reading a meaningless story to children. At that point, there is still a high possibility of many other planes being hijacked. You would think the President needs to take a course of action....and very soon. But, then again.....we could prolong making some earth-shattering decisions and instead choose to sit there and read. Look at where my priorities stand. Humanity doesn't have a chance.
  15. According to the 9/11 Commission - and this was reported in today's New York Daily News - the message whispered into President Bush's ear by his Chief of Staff was "A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack." And......he just sat there. For.....11 minutes. I don't know how that could be justified.
  16. What would Clinton have done? Personally, I think Clinton would immediately get out of that seat, apologize to the children for leaving early, and get as much information on the terrorist attacks as he could. Remember, at that time, there were still MANY unanswered questions. Nobody knew the other targets the terrorists could be attacking. Nobody knew how many planes had been hijacked. Nobody knew if there were going to be car-bombs or something worse in addition to the hijacked aircrafts. Nobody knew what was going to happen and, as the President of the United States, you need to make sure to take the best control of the situation as you can. As soon as you can. Bush sat there and read to children. For 11 minutes. In hindsight, those 11 minutes might not have meant all that much. But, at that time, those 11 minutes could have been something huge. That timeframe could have meant the difference between shooting down a plane heading for the White House, or watching as the House burned to the ground and a large number of our governmental officials were killed. If there was ever a time where Bush needed to act Presidential, that was the time. He should have been absorbing the information as soon as it happened, and screaming out orders in an attempt to stop anything even more gruesome from happening. He sat there - in an absolutely useless position - for 11 minutes instead. I don't think this is the normal Presidential response. And I don't think there are many other Presidents, if any at all, that would have done the same irresponsible thing.
  17. For those who are interested, Bradshaw is on now.
  18. I'm a little pissed that Derek Stone stole my title shot against The Mad Cappa. I've been building up that match for weeks, and I don't see what Derek did to deserve it instead. ..... .....oh, nevermind. Well, anyway: -Northstar/Fly was a nice match that also happened to put over both guys. I liked the psychology of the match, with Fly trying to bust out his aerial moves but Northstar deciding to stick with moves that focused on weakening the back. Again, good match. -Really enjoyed the squash Sadist/Bradshaw match. Although I expected the mention of Bradshaw's nazi-fiasco, I still laughed pretty hard when the referee stopped JBL from raising his arms to the crowd. I also really liked the interview afterwards. I loved Black T beating on Jivin Jim, but acting as if he really enjoys it. I'm still one of the biggest fans of Jivin Jim, and I'm not sure we'll ever see a more genius character. -Very good promo between Zack and Crystal. The Zack portion only helped to continue putting him over as an asshole, and the Crystal segment made sure to allude to the fact that their feud is far from over. You can really feel the hostility between Zack and Crystal in their promos, and I think that's one of the driving points behind the feud being as entertaining as it has been thus far. -Laughed at the Cole/Coach/Caboose bit that took place right before the Mann/Static match. Good contest between Mann and Static, and I loved the ending portion of the match. Logan moonwalking right into a schoolboy was awesome. Synth and Jackson was a pretty decent match as well, if not a little short. I've really been enjoying the GPX/Saints feud thus far, and I thought a great job was done with this tonight. -Really good match between Rodez and Bryte. Before this contest, Bryte had looked a little weak when it came to the technical aspect of professional wrestling, but this match did a lot to boost his credibility. As well as....you know....further along his dick persona. Again, the match was actually pretty exciting, and I liked how Rodez kept coming back to fight, despite the everpresent interference of The Hand. It was great to see Rodez finally pull out the win in the end, and even better to see Panther run out and finally get a measure of revenge against the guy that screwed him over months ago. Very, very well done. -Liked the ominous mean streak of Ryan Smith starting to brew. For a feud that has lasted so long like the one between these two men, Dama continues to find a way to keep the feud relatively fresh. I'm looking forward to seeing where the Damaramu/Smith feud ends up at the Great Angle Bash. -I don't think words can describe just how excited I am for the War Gheymes match between Homeless Dan/Fonzie/Warrior/and the rest at the GAB. Just.....wow......do I sense a possible match-of-the-year candidate?? -Overall, I really enjoyed the Rick Edwards skits tonight. If I can offer just a little criticism, Parka, I do think you sometimes stretch yourself a little thin. Between the segment with Eddy Kalm, then the segment with Cain and Judas, then the match with Stevens.....it just seems that you try to do a little too much in these weekly shows when you really could afford to spread your storylines out a little more. Of course, all the Rick segments tonight were very good. I do like the subtle face-tendencies I'm beginning to sense from Rick. Between trusting Eddy a little more, showing compassion for Judas, sending Cain to the back, winning the match against Chris Stevens on his own....Rick's character is slowly beginning to evolve and it's being handled VERY well. I just think that maybe next time, you could afford to cut down the segments a little. But the ones that you wrote for tonight, including the match, were really good. -Crazy Main Event between Zack/Calvin and Crystal/Sly. If this match was any indication of what War Games could be like at the Great Angle Bash, then it should REALLY be something awesome to read. It was also nice to finally see Crystal get a pinfall over Zack at the end. The action tonight was just intense, and it truly did an amazing job of setting the scene for the Pay-Per-View next Sunday. Comments on my Drek/Cappa segment would, as always, be GREATLY appreciated. I didn't know Abe would be resigning at the beginning of the show, so I know that may have been a little confusing. But besides that, I'm interested to know what other people thought of my segment. As much as I really appreciate reading Hoff's comments every week, it would be great to finally know what other people think as well.
  19. That's because they're both idiots, yet if you try to say something you get bashed by their "followers." "He's a good poster." "Why don't you like him?" "He's better than you!" That is some amazingly brutal bashing right there.
  20. Boring? Jaxl, you obviously don't know the deal with airline food then.
  21. I don't know. Something tells me that a web address of "pointlesswasteoftime.com" might mean that he possibly didn't get paid for writing this piece.....
  22. To be creative. To entertain other people. Why bother wasting time coming up with wrestling matches and backstage promos for an online wrestling federation? Sometimes people just do it to be creative and entertain..... I'm still in awe that people were taking this article seriously and were actually starting to get angry.
  23. ....how are people taking this seriously? I'm sure the author of this piece loved the movie. He wouldn't have wasted his time writing such a clearly sarcastic and funny piece if he wasn't actually a fan of it. He just wanted to write a humorous article about it so other fans of the "Lord of the Rings" series could get a few laughs as well. How could people get angry over this article and start calling him an "idiot"?! Christ..... Buy some common sense, people. The concept of sarcasm really isn't all that difficult to grasp.
  24. Talk about jumping into presumptions. Let's get this straight. From this vague piece of news that stated Benoit MAY not fight Edge at Vengeance, you have thus found it to be quite obvious that: 1) It will be HHH/Benoit at Vengeance 2) HHH will win the title at Vengeance 3) The Main Event at SummerSlam will be HHH/Edge .....why? I'm not saying that this plan isn't possible, but I find it ridiculous that you're stating it as if it's already been set in stone by WWE. For all we know, the Benoit/Edge feud can start as early as next week, considering Vengeance is a few weeks away. Then again, HHH could lose his #1 Contender's match to Eugene on Raw, and Bischoff could decide to slip Kane into the title slot at Vengeance once again. They could also possibly have another Battle Royal to determine the #1 Contender at Vengeance, since this is something that has become more popular lately for determining title contenders. Why.....they could even haul out the Elimination Chamber for Vengeance! Benoit, Jericho, Edge, HHH, Kane, Randy Orton. There we go. Huge Vengeance Main Event. .....OR they could have HHH go against Benoit at Vengeance. Have Benoit pull the win out, and then have the big rematch at SummerSlam. .....OR they could have HHH go against Benoit at Vengeance. Have HHH pull the win out, and then have the big rematch at SummerSlam. Why, there are an amazing amount of routes they could go before Vengeance. They haven't really built up anything specifically for the PPV, and anything thus far - even if it's from Meltzer or the Torch - is wild speculation. Yet, if HHH is involved, you just immediately think the worst.....and other people take that presumption of the worst as solid fact. Let's wait to see what they decide to do for Vengeance before we all start screaming about WWE screwing over Benoit....again.
