Foley only said he was more important to WCW and WWF than Mero was but was paid less by both organizations. It was NOT the hateful indictment of one man's entire career that Flair laid on Foley. To put this into perspective, not even Mil Mascaras gets it as bad as Foley does in Ric's book. From page 412 of Foley's book: "Steve and I had been talking frequently about the contracts we'd recently been offered that, while not embarrassing, were not nearly on the level of Marc Mero. This filled us both with the potent combination of pride and anger, and we vowed to show Vince the error of his contractual ways.............I told him(Vince) that I appreciated the offer but could not, on principle, sign for less money than Marc Mero had.........Then I thought of Mero, his match that same evening, and a match he had with the Undertaker that was so bad it defied belief. And believe me, it wasn't the Undertaker who was at fault." These are only a few comments from Have a Nice Day, all located on the same page. There were actually a few more comments scattered throughout the book about both Mero and his wife. Mick's comments so far make Marc look absolutely worthless, and they actually paint Mero in a very bad light. But then again.....that was okay, since it wasn't Foley that was being criticized.
-
Frigid, you missed my point. Foley is upset that Ric gave him some pretty stinging criticisms in his new autobiography. Yet, a few years ago, Foley actually gave Marc Mero and Sable some pretty stinging criticisms as well in "Have a Nice Day".....but, for some reason, that was okay in his eyes. Putting professional wrestling accomplishments aside, it's still one human being insulting another human being. And if it was okay for Mick to criticize Sable and Mero publically in his book.....and if it was okay at the time for Vince to give his approval.....then it should be perfectly okay for Ric to do the same and receive the same approval from Vince.
-
And doesn't Mick have the right to HIS opinion? Doesn't he have the right to be offended that he was unceremoniously bashed by Ric Flair (who's comments made the Cover of RAW Magazine) without being called a hypocrite, just because he didn't think Flair was a very good booker? Mick certainly does have the right to his opinion. But that means he should also respect the opinions of others. And if he was pleased with Vince McMahon when Vince gave Mick the opportunity to write what was on his mind, he should be completely fine with Vince giving someone else the opportunity to write what's on their mind. To not answer phone calls from Vince just because FLAIR wrote something personally offensive about him is incredibly childish. Like Frigid said, if Mick could be mad at anyone, it could be Flair. But even that's stretching it out a little, because Mick started the War of the Words first. Flair was upset initially to read Mick's comments, because he had always believed he was, at least, on friendly terms with Foley. I'm sure the booker criticisms that Mick had for Flair offended Ric on some level, so it's only natural that Ric will want to publicly criticize Mick as well. Foley should already know that he needs to take his lumps - JUST LIKE RIC DID - and not criticize anyone if he, himself, is not ready to receive criticism as well. But to be furious at Vince McMahon for letting Flair speak his mind in his autobiography.....even though Vince gave Foley the OPPORTUNITY TO DO EXACTLY THE SAME.....is just mind-boggingly hypocritical.
-
It doesn't matter. It's Flair's personal opinion, and he shouldn't be censored from speaking his own mind in his autobiography. I seem to remember Mick being VERY unfair - and overall just plain nasty - to Marc Mero and Sable in "Have a Nice Day." Foley was thrilled when WWE gave him the chance to write his book without worrying about having his thoughts censored. But now that somebody else has wrote something negative about him, he's furious. What kind of twisted-up logic is that?
-
Now this is interesting. In "Foley Is Good", he couldn't stop praising Vince McMahon and the WWE Legal Team for letting him speak his mind in "Have a Nice Day." Even though he criticized Vince McMahon, certain WWE superstars, and many people from his past, Mick was grateful that he was still allowed to publish what he wanted. Including, of course, his negative comments about Ric Flair. Now, curiously, the tables have been switched around and Mick is furious. Vince McMahon and the WWE Legal Team have given Ric Flair the same privileges that Foley once had. Flair is allowed to criticize certain WWE superstars and people from his past, just like Mick did. And....*GASP*....Ric has decided to criticize Foley, just as Foley decided to criticize Ric in his book a few years ago. But....you know....it's not like I'm saying Foley is hypocritical or anything....

Well, does anybody want a title shot at the newly-formed OAOAST Italian Championship?

Well, this is coming from the ever-reliable Star magazine, so take it with a grain of salt. -
Thread for people who think people who watch

So Kotz and KJ both love the same show. Interesting. -
Meh. Moore is a little too right-wing for me.

Well, I would at least hope Mike got a warning for what he did in this topic: Official "I saw Fahrenheit 9/11" thread That was one of the worst examples of thread hijacking I've ever seen. People are not allowed to talk about Michael Moore and his movie around here without facing the wrath of Mike. You would think he had his fill of making his hatred for Moore known in all the various topics of Current Events, but he just couldn't help himself. He felt the need to scream out his opinion multiple times in the Movies/TV folder. Then, when NoCalMike questioned him about keeping some of his political feelings out of that particular thread, what was respectable Mike's response? This gets filed under "tough shit". "Sure, he's a lying sack of shit --- but he's OUR lying sack of shit" -=Mike Gets filed under Tough Shit? Sure, he may have completely disrupted the thread, making sure that absolutely NO ONE can offer a positive opinion of Moore....but he doesn't care. Tough shit, as he says. Wonderful. Oh, let's not forget when Betty Houle posted up Ebert's review of Fahrenheit 9/11. Now, while normal people would actually concentrate on Ebert's opinion....well....of the movie, what does Mike do? What does he do the ONE TIME he decides not to unleash an angry attack on Michael Moore? Why, he goes wildly off-topic, trying to take the thread even further of course. Beautiful. Just because someone can post their opinions in an intelligent matter doesn't mean they should be completely exempt from acting like a decent human being. While -iB- and Man of 1,004 Modes weren't nearly as eloquent as Mike, they weren't nearly as dangerous either. It's not bad enough that people can't argue with Mike without facing insults. Now, people can't discuss a topic that Mike doesn't personally agree with, or they might face his constant negative/sarcastic/unfunny/flaming posts in the subject until the entire topic winds up dying down. The Movies/TV "I saw Fahrenheit 9/11" thread should have been the last straw as far as I'm concerned. But, even if Mike isn't banned for what he did in that thread, he should at least be warned for what went on. I just can't understand why people like him are allowed to run roughshod over entire topics without any restrictions.....

So is there going to be a forum left by Saturday?
NYU replied to The Czech Republic's topic in No Holds Barred
As much as I disliked BBCW, there was really no reason for his banning. Being unfunny really shouldn't be the proper grounds for a banning at TSM, and as much as it might pain me to say it, he didn't deserve to get kicked off the forums the way he did. Glennsoe definitely should have been banned because he had been warned numerous times about starting unimportant WWE topics, yet still continued to do it. I have no problem with that. -iB-........I'm on the fence with that one. If he was Game, then fine, I completely understand why he was banned. Otherwise, this looks to be the same banning case as it was with BBCW. There's no actual reason for his banning, other than his posts may not have been up to par with the posts from some others around here. BBCW and -iB- may not have been the most intelligent posters around....hell, I found them wickedly unfunny. But I would hope there was an actual reason for their banning other than "I don't like their posts. They're gone." -
I'm not calling out anybody personally, but I really can't understand the mentality of "Feedback my match, but I have no plans to feedback yours." To me, it's just common courtesy to comment on somebody's matches if you're expecting them to give you comments as well. We all appreciate reading the opinions other OAOAST members had about our matches, but it's really time to come to the realization that it's just as important to give feedback so OTHERS have something to read and enjoy for their hard work. With that out of the way.... Papacita, as always, GREAT job on the graphics. Just awesome. The Saints vs. Global Party Exchange - Short match, but good while it lasted. The direction of this contest was exactly the kind of thing that needed to be done to boost the credibility of GPX. While I was a little disappointed to see The Saints lose so easily - I've become a fan in the past few weeks - it's definitely understandable, considering they had a case of "Little Zoidbergs." . War Gheymes - Very fun read. The beginning picture of Gorilla Monsoon and Anglesault was gold, and I loved the appearances of Paul Barron and the Underschaffer. I'm hoping the Fonz will have something in store as retaliation for the screwjob he received at the Bash. Again, this was really entertaining. Ryan Smith vs. The Cult of Damaramu - At first, I was really feeling the story of the match. Ryan's mean streak, with his complete destruction of Skull Kid and strong determination towards Skull Mask, was actually working really well. Unfortunately, I just wasn't feeling the ending of the match. For all the damage these two men put themselves though, it seems weird that Dama would immediately give up and ask for forgiveness after Smith holds a lead pipe over his head. But not only is it strange that Dama was apologize so quickly, but it's weird that Smith would accept it so readily. The reconciliation of these two men just seemed to come out of nowhere and, to me, it didn't feel right. It was a very nice way to end the feud, and I certainly understand where you were trying to go for it, but it just seems like the execution fell a little flat. The apologies just happened way too soon and way too easily for a feud that has lasted so long and has been so intense. Chris Bryte vs. Leon Rodez - Awesome action in this match. Leon wound up looking like a huge badass by overcoming both Bryte and the Hand the way he did. The back-and-forth nature of this contest just made it so exciting to read and, although I had predicted it, I was glad to see another appearance from Panther. I really liked Bryte flipping out afterwards on Miss Jackie afterwards, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing the Bryte/Panther confrontation on Thursday. The Body Shop - It's good to see that, even in the absence of Tha Puerto Rican, that the Popick/PR alliance has not been forgotten yet. While this segment didn't exactly establish anything new, it still accomplished its purpose of building upon the partnership between these two men and just what could happen in the future. Black T vs. Jingus/Sadist - Really entertaining match. I liked the opening sequence with Jivin JR distracting Jingus and the Sadist, allowing Black T to make the sneak attack with the steel chairs. The match was very well-written with all of the exciting near-falls, and I enjoyed the crazy ending sequence with T-Bod just managing to fall on Jingus. It's great that Black T continues to be the team to beat in the Tag Division. Rick Edwards vs. The Parka - Another great match. Not only was the action in the match very exciting, but all the existing subplots between Rick, Parka, Cain, and Eddy made for some really interesting confrontations. LPYC did an excellent job building up for this match this month, and I can now see why he's written so many segments the past few weeks. Again, this match was just REALLY well-done, so huge props for that. WAR GAMES - Such a long match to read, but it was definitely worth it. This did a tremendous job of capturing all the feuds that had been built up in the past few weeks and months, and using them to increase the intensity of the match. All of th action in the contest was great, and even the little things like the minor staredown between Hoff and Gibraltar....and the angry wait from AJ Flaire.....did so much to improve the quality of the match. I loved that Crystal was able to finally make Zack tap out cleanly at the end of the match, since it just seemed to make all the weeks of torment she had sufferee from Thrillogy finally worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing where all these wrestlers branch out following War Games. Excellent Main Event. Feedback on the Drek Stone/Mad Cappa No-Holds-Barred match will - of course - be GREATLY appreciated!

So when does JR ask Kane about his feelings on his father's death last night?
-
Maybe Zack Malibu got a job on the production team? When Kane freezes time we'll know for sure. I'm looking forward to Edge trying to have a friendly conversation with Lita backstage but, unfortunately, all the stress of this pregnancy has given her an addiction to caffeine pills. Edge: Lita, you don't look good. Is there anything I can help you with? Lita: Edge, I'm fine. I'm fine. I'M SO EXCITED! AND I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT! AND I KNOW....I KNOW.......*sob*......OH GOD. We all know Lita has the dramatic skills to pull it off.

Didn't someone dress up as Gumby a few weeks ago? I'm not sure how long it was so I'm just taking a guess. Don't start up the Gumby thing. I still remember the posts Gumby inspired. The horror....Gumby=Teh Devil What?! That was one of the most entertaining OAO Raw threads ever!

Must have been cool for the fans to see dynamite go off in the arena. Well.....there must have been dynamite involved. I mean, Paul Bearer was completely trapped in a block of QUICK-DRYING CEMENT. Unless the paramedics managed to poke a straw through the cement block to give Bearer some air......AND carried the entire cement cube onto a stretcher and into an ambulance....that explanation makes zero sense. The WWE Web-Writing Team really should just stick to the Garrison Cade articles.
-
Personally, I would vote for Paul Bearer being buried alive in a cement tomb. This is what's so great about WWE 2004. So many choices!
-
Why did they even bother doing something like this Concrete Crypt gimmick if they had no idea how to make it look even remotely realistic? I don't even know if it could have looked any worse. The whole idea was just brutally, embarrassingly bad.
-
Zack better have something huge planned for his portion of the War Games match for making us wait so long. Might I suggest a cement truck? They instantly make ANY match better.
-
Well, be logical now. If they're hell-bent on killing off Paul Bearer tonight......they can't bury the guy in cement, then move onto the next match. It wouldn't make any sense for everyone to watch a wrestler get killed, then supposedly quickly forget it to move onto the title match. Well.....not including that Vince/Taker Buried Alive match, of course.
-
Hilarious. A handicap match featuring the Dudleys is the Main Event of the PPV tonight. Followed by something involving a cement truck. Intelligent, no doubt. This is gold.
-
Wow. This has been pretty brutal so far. The thread, not the PPV.

Hes been burried on RAW though.. But he's big and hairy. Guaranteed to bring in money anytime. only if they figure a way to clone buffybeast 8,000,000,000 times Not necessarily. Plenty of people like Missy Elliot.
