To be fair, you don't know the terms of the release. When Molly was released we later found out she asked for it. Same could have happened to Dawn. Why would she want to be employeed by WWE when she is going to have a baby? Only to be back on the road and not be able to take care of it herself?

I take it you missed the last few years of what she did in the WWE...? She had a nice ass, but as a WWE character, to me at least, she won't be missed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well you know Christy is getting 250,000 a year (or is that over a couple years?) so the runner ups couldn't be getting MORE than that? Was Carmella ever officially released or what?

I think that was before the Dudleys/Morgan was announced Posts: 193 PostPosted: Wed Jul 06, 2005 1:25 pm Post subject: Reply with quote Edit/Delete this post Delete this post I will only truely miss The Dudleys. If I had to pick 5-8 more people to get released... Scotty 2 Hotty Funaki Kenzo Suzuki (w/ Hiroko) Tyson Tomko Heidenreich Then the other three... Michelle McCool Al Snow Viscera Anything other than those 8 will be a shock to me...

WWE had been known to cut the occasional wrestler that's on TV at the moment or in some program... Jindrak was in the big trade, and I remember them cutting Molly Holly in the middle of a return on TV.

The lack of use of the WCW tape library in DVDs makes me sad. If I were Vince I'd rerelease tons of WCW stuff, but if sales were good they couldn't have that... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He has released the 80's dvd, road warriors and Flair dvd's. It's not like he has let that collection sit in the vault. It's used for the 24/7 network as well. This is without question one of the top investments Vince ever made. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My mistake then, I'm talking more along the line of rereleasing PPVs and things like that on DVD. I always ate up the ECW PPV DVD rereleases just because there were so few... there are quite a few WCW PPVs I'd like to watch again. I'd take the crap with the good to relive a complete show.

Wow... just looking at the roster from the first draft. With the exception of all the talent picked in the initial 20, these are the people which were like the after thought and who is still here and who is gone. SD: Still Employed: Billy Kidman, Tajiri, Chris Jericho, Ivory, The Hurricane, Al Snow, Torrie Wilson, Scotty 2 Hotty, Stacy Kiebler, Christian, Tazz, Hardcore Holly, Val Venis Gone: Albert, Lance Storm, Diamond Dallas Page, Test, Faarooq, Test, Faarooq Raw: Still Employed: Trish Stratus, Spike Dudley, Steven Richards, Bradshaw Gone: Matt Hardy, Raven, Jeff Hardy, Mr. Perfect, D-Lo Brown, Shawn Stasiak, Terri, Jacqueline, Goldust, Justin Credible, Big Bossman, Tommy Dreamer, Crash Holly, Molly Holly. Kane, Trish, Lita, Kidman, Torrie Willson, S2H, Tazz, and Hardcore Holly are the only ones that have stayed on their respective brands the whole time (unless there is a switch I cannot think of

The better question is why did Long give up half of a tag team willingly? Eric's excuse could be taking away a tag team from Smackdown, and in return not really gaining anything for himself. And is Garrison Cade still employeed by WWE? Because Jindrak and Cade could make a return if that's true...

Wha? That's news to me. Companies do pay to have their shows rated afterall... it isn't a free service.

One and Only "ECW: One Night Stand" Thread

Well fuck... why not just use their real theme music for people like Dreamer at the PPV if they were just going to edit it out anyway. -
Edge's contract from the Money in the Bank ladder match was for the World Heavyweight Title, not WWE title, correct? Batista going to SD would mean that Edge would lose his title shot I believe...
-
I could see them pulling another HHH gets drafted, and then trading a world champion to get him back on Raw... Wasn't it Booker and The Dudleys for HHH last time?
-
Triple H BACK in the title hunt? He is in the title hunt, and if Batista leaves with the title, he will go after whatever title is left and never be consiered out of the title picture

In broadcasting, the courts ruled that you can use a 7 point some odd second sound clip over the air from a copyrighted source. This is how DJs are able to get away with quick clips on the air. Since royalty laws also apply to internet broadcasting, I would think the same 7 second rule would apply to the online world as well. Google is unable to provide me with a cite though, but my broadcasting history class notes do... just take my word on this one.

One and Only "ECW: One Night Stand" Thread

Oh I got the point of the PPV. But the buildup has a lot to do with the match itself. That's what seperates any normal PPV from Wrestlemania -
One and Only "ECW: One Night Stand" Thread

I didn't watch the show live, but watching a taping of it, I didn't see what was so great about the PPV. Yes, it was an above average PPV for todays standards, I loved how it stayed true to ECW roots, the look and feel of it, having Stlyes on play by play... but I've gotten greater enjoyment out of other ECW PPVs in the past. There were too many damn videos and long down time between matches where it didn't feel fast paced like a regular ECW PPV. I understand why, but still... There were one or two 3 1/2 out of 5 star matches on the card IMO, mainly because there was no reason to root for one guy over the other. The finish happened, and that was it... I couldn't emotionally get behind any of the matches. It brings me back to RVD vs. Jerry Lynn for the TV title, thinking that for the first time RVD could have lost. Even more obscure matches.... I remember an ECW World Title match between Mike Awesome and Kid Kash, and it had the feeling that Kid Kash could have actually won the world title that night. A lot of the matches were just garbage matches... I did not see what was so great about Awesome Tanaka. Nothing was on the line, and there were a few insane spots. But those spots don't make the match incredible IMO, just something for the highlight reel to play back for years to come. There was no really outstanding technical wrestling, and everything seems so high spot orientated. I did not like the matches with WWE Wrestlers... I personally felt that Benoit vs. Eddie had no business being on that PPV. They were two guys that happend to be in ECW in the past, never had a 1 on 1 match against each other, and were facing each other in a match that was worse than matches we have seen between the two in the past and will most likely see in the future now that Benoit is on Smackdown. On top of that, I would personally say they were more known for their work in WCW and the WWF. Same goes for Austin's involvement, but atleast it wasn't a match. I would have rather seen something I will never have had the chance to see if it wasn't for this show. Putting Eddie up against an ECW Alumni, putting Benoit up against an Alumni... Why were there wrestlers that were there just for a quick run in instead of giving them a match? I would have rather seen the return of the Impact Players in a tag match rather than a Justin Credible run in. Same thing for Kid Kash, I think he's a very entertaining wrestler, yet he just had a run in during the main event. And people are saying that Vince might consider bringing back ECW full time because of the success of this PPV? First of all... Vince paid a bunch of guys to wrestle one night only, who were going to most likely take insane bumps which Vince wouldn't normally let them do on a regular basis if he had to worry about them being injured and out of action while on a WWE contract. That's why the style of WWE now is so safe compared to what we have seen in the past. Look at Dreamer's injurys from just one match. Match of the Night for me IMO? Jericho vs. Lance Storm. It was different enough from WWE style that it looked new and fresh, while still technical, without getting into the insane bumping of ECW style while keeping themselves safe. Though when it comes to that match I still have a problem with the match of "yeah, if Vince was smart, we could have seen this already and it wouldn't be 'new'." It amazes me why while all three of them were in the same company, Vince never teamed up Dawn Marie with Lance Storm and Justin Credible... It may sound like I'm shitting on the PPV, but I really did enjoy it. Like I said, one of the best PPVs in awhile, but just didn't have that "OMG!" feeling which I sensed from all of you that saw it live. Fake Edit: And Bradshaw in character was obviously getting a kick out of these wrestlers killing each other over nothing... not impressed by it -
That doesn't make much sense though to trick some people a few hours before official spoilers get out. A bit different when it's live

So how was the production of the show though? Was it like the older ECW shows or like a normal WWE Show? I thought they were supposed to go with less cameras, no pyro, stuff like that. -
One Night Stand To Receive Little Promotion by WWE
Astro7x replied to Dimensions's topic in The WWE Folder
Seeing the first RVD/Lynn match live on PPV... so much of what made the match good (For me atleast) was the possibility of RVD losing the TV title after a year of holding it. There were so many moments where you thought Lynn would win it and RVD would finally lose. I would think that knowing the result going into it would make it not as great, but it was an on the edge of your seat experience seeing it live, amazing. -
This is a 200 kbps video with 320x240 resolution, and 16 bit 32 kHz Stereo sound Looks decent at 2x, and crappy at full screen. Looks like it's 15 fps... what can you expect for a small file size. But it does get the job done, and many thanks are appreciated. Beats downloading 1.5 gigs worth of data for something I'll only watch once

My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss was missing from that list... who starts a reality show and never even shows the twist ending? -
That's exactly what I have been saying the whole time. I never said it makes the audience size larger. It's no different than how WWE inserts their own ads before commercial breaks. It still comes out of their programming time, just that its designed to look like a commercial. But if TNA is truely doing as bad as you say they are... they are not getting offers from other from other television stations, and even if they did lose TNA, it's no loss on FSNs part based on how horrible the ratings are. It's no different than an infomercial. When one company stops paying for their spot, you find something to replace it.
-
The share gives a realistic number on how many people are watching... And why would FSN even offer to pay TNA for their programming when TNA continues to pay for its time slot? We are not even counting advertising that FSN makes off of it. If it was a paid infomercial, then there would be no commercial breaks. And if there were commercials, then the commercials would be what pays for the TNA time slot. Commercials is the business model of traidional television. Major video games, microsoft products, priceline... all going back to FSN most likely if TNA is losing money on the deal. If TNA is stupid enough to offer to pay for a time slot, pretty much hoping on using it to increase PPV sales, then why should FSN offer to pay for programming? That's just bad business negotiation on TNAs part. Yeah, they were looking for a way to get exposure out there, but its not working with their shitty time slot. in the FSN/TNA case though, of course it's going to be more profitable for TNA to be an 'infomercial' because it's a dual revenue stream for FSN between paid time and commercials, not to mention all their local ads they get to insert in there to attract the different demographic that TNA brings in. On the other hand, I am not surprised that nobody wants to take a risk on wrestling considering the death of WCW and ECW not many years behind us.
-
It's not a theory, it's a rating that Nielsen Media Research measures, which would be more accurate in this situation. The share is more accurate because it is based off of how many people are watching TV at that time as opposed to total number of viewers possible, including those with their TVs off. 4pm on Friday isn't exactly a popular time slot to begin with. And of course the share is going to be higher, because it's out of a smaller viewer base.
