  1. Edwin MacPhisto: the guy is really underappreciated here, I mean seriously, I've never seen a post by the guy that sucks. Plus he's a big Prince fan, which earns many points. And while nominating oneself is low, this tournament is all a big joke anyway so it seems and I am an incredible lowlife, so I nominate me.
  2. I think if someone puts down Psycho, it's pretty obvious which one they're talking about. Oh, and I have no qualms for The Godfather being on the list. 1. Gone With The Wind 2. Life Is Beautiful 3. Blade Runner 4. Apocalypse Now 5. A Clockwork Orange 6. Chinatown 7. Lost In Translation 8. The Princess Bride 9. Life Of Brian 10. North By Northwest 11. 2001: A Space Odyssey 12. Rocky Horror Picture Show 13. The Godfather: Part II 14. Pulp Fiction 15. Raiders Of The Lost Ark 16. The Deer Hunter 17. The Shawshank Redemption 18. 3. Um, do we really need spoilers for this? I doubt anyone here will leave the film going "Wow, I can't believe there was that wooden horse at the end". Mind you, when I saw Titanic, just as it hits the iceberg the woman behind me shouted "Oh my god, it's gonna sink" so maybe I should retract that statement.
  4. Despite reading the above two posts, it took me scrolling up and down the page repeatedly to actually understand where this page went. Jolly good show indeed, or perhaps big fat idiot, depending on your perspective.

    Music board

It as underrated album that doesn't get recognised for being awesome as it deserves to be. An overlooked masterpiece of the era, in the same vain as Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica.
  6. I found Bana as a comedian to be funny when he wasn't using his own material. As for your glowing reviews, sadly you seem to be in the minority, as most reviews I've seen have been negative. I doubt I will go out of my way to see it (though I probably will somehow end up having seen it).
  7. Bah, I wouldn't say best book, I think with every book they improve further. But it's definitely where the awesomeness begins. Anyway, I hope it's good for you.
  8. My old Ancient History teacher went to school with Rose Byrne. Yeah, I'm sad to see all the "bleh" reviews, because I was really quite psyched for this. First Van Helsing, now this. I guess I'll have to hope for Prisoner Of Azkaban to be awesome.
  9. 10 cents American? That's like 20 cents Australian!!!!!! I gotta give this a go! 57943
  10. I don't understand why everyone loves in The Air Tonight so much. I mean yeah, it's a good song, but it doesn't exactly thrill me. I'd go Against All Odds, I Wish It Would Rain Down and Take Me Home.
  11. Sadly, all early reports I've heard for this movie *and* Troy appear to be mildly disappointing. Which is a shame, because two of the three Hollwywood blockbusters of the year I was looking forward to reportedly suck. Oh well, I can't see Pisoner Of Azkaban letting me down. I think not, anyway.
  12. Yeah he is, he's Obi Wan. And Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge!, Black Hawk Down and Big Fish. Probably a few more I'm not thinking of. Who would they get to direct the film? And as for making the violent scenes more graphic, I hope/think not. What makes the original so effective is that the violence isn't glorified or over-the-top, it's just presented as is. That made it more disturbing and I think to make it more violent would just be bloody stupid. But then again, so is making this film. I'll bet they won't, nobody can be stupid enough to go ahead with this. McGregor's not stupid enough to go ahead with this.
  13. Rollerball.
  14. You don't know what Ewan McGregor looks like!? Anyway, this is a terrible idea. I think remakes are a terrible idea to begin with, but maybe it can work with films which can be improved on with today's cinema world (eg. Ocean's Eleven). But this is a classic and came out at the right time with the right director and at any other time would not work anywhere near as effectively (eg. Psycho).
  15. I sleep in the attic.
  16. I agree that he shouldn't have been banned, in fact I don't like this whole "No Gimmick Posters" rule. And as for the most refreshing thing here in months, I would call that an exaggeration if it weren't for the fact that we've only had new posters for about a week, and yeah he's probably the most refreshing of them. But he's really polarised the board, and though I'm on the side of those who liked him, I think you're a bloody great galloot to create a thread about this. Just leave it in the old thread he made, because this is overkill and will just serve to piss people off, as evidenced in CWM's post.
  17. I too used to hate anime. Then I saw Spirited Away. I still hate anime, but Spirited Away was the exception to the rule.
  18. Fraser was a far better PM than Howard ever can be. Yes, he pulled us out of an economic slump, but it was a slump which occurred while under his leadership anyway. Petrol prices have gone up by at least 10 cents everywhere from the beginning of his leading the country. He brought in the GST despite everybody opposing it at the time. The health insurance fiasco similarly earned the disdain of the population. The only thing that I find more disturbing than Howard as PM is the fact that he has made so many changes in the country which people hated and yet they haven't voted him out. While Crean wasn't ever a real threat as Opposition Leader, Beazley was and could have been a much better change. Thank God I think Latham can actually be elected in and fix this mess of a country.
  19. Bah, there's only room for one Monty Python related poster here, even if I don't just post "DINSDALE!" all the time.
  20. It was Royal Rumble vs. Backlash vs. Judgment Day for me, and I just think that the overall match quality on JD was great, so that's where my vote went. RR would be second though.
  21. When I saw this on the main board, I was incredibly excited, thinking this marked the return of mr. x spooky secret phantom man. I am awfully disappointed. 0/10.
  22. I think the point is that at any possible moment, Howard manages to find an opportunity to wrap himself in the flag. Every sporting event that will receive a large audience, he is there (such as the time he congratulated Kieran Perkins and "Trent Hackett" for their swimming). When the Governor General was being faced by the rape scandal, suddenly the boat people are throwing children overboard (later found to be untrue, they fell in). Every time Howard's government is going to be facing negative publicity, some new story is discovered to show him in a positive light. Right now Latham is getting more publicity than Howard and his popularity is soaring. Obviously Howard is trying to make the pubic opinion sway back in his favour.
  23. I agree Stones shouldn't be #2, their long career hasn't been consistent enough. I'd put Dylan as #2 (though my actual preference would be Prince, but that's life). And The Beatles stuff they play on the radio is more often than not their weaker stuff. Yes, Love Me Do, Please Please Me etc. are not all too special. But you really should explore their later albums which everybody agrees are far better but the radio stations don't play them because they're not as radio-friendly.
  24. Malcolm Alex. That will certainly make any opponent feel strong fear in their heart. And what kind of surname is Alex, anyway?
  25. Huh, he didn't do any of the smutty stuff any more. Which slightly saddened me, I must say, Little Red Corvette was one of the songs I was most praying to hear, though I knew it would never happen. And yeah, I considered Prince to be the best concert experience of my life. From Let's Go Crazy through to Purple Rain, I was absolutely entranced.
