I like Barlow's powerful voice and thought it did work well for IE. It is a credit to Schaeffer though that he could turn around and make the music work for Tim (I've always thought the "Ripper" nickname was silly and altogether dumb) Owens though. Owens can be good when he mixes it up between a regular voice and his Halford voice, but when he sticks with the Halford voice for too long (ex: "The Reckoning") it is rather annoying.
