  1. Al, Abreu did well today. I give him props. Hit a meaningful big-time home run. Even ESPN had the "At bats without a HR" meter on during the highlights, though. So they knew he was slumping. But he did good today.
  2. I haven't seen the new show. I remember seeing an extensive trailer for the 5-part (was it 5 parts?) mini series in Sci Fi. There was this really hot blonde who I believe was a shapeshifting Cyon (however you spell it). Please tell me about her character, her name, and where else I may've seen her.
  3. Awesome, that's more like it...like 2 less votes on the first day for round 2 than the entire first round total.
  4. Here we go with Round 2. Rules: 1) Most votes advances 2) A Tie will result in both films advancing, resulting in a three-way vote for the next round. 3) Use good judgment when voting. If you've only seen one film, you may vote if you wish. 4) Voting for Round 2 will conclude on SUNDAY Aug. 7th at 11 pm. ______________________________ Round 2 ______________________________ REGION A - The "Zombies Don't Run" Region Gates of Hell (Paura nella città dei morti viventi) aka ("City of the Living Dead") (1980) Day of the Dead (1985) The Haunting (1963) The Exorcist (1973) Shaun of the Dead (2004) Friday the 13th (1980) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) The Changeling (1980) ______________________________________________ REGION B - The "Jocks & Whores Must Die" Region Demoni ("Demons") (1985) (tie) The Blair Witch Project (1999) (tie) The Return of the Living Dead (1985) An American Werewolf in London (1981) The Evil Dead (1981) Hellraiser (1987) Dead/Alive ("Braindead") (1992) (tie) The Shining (1980) (tie) Alien (1979) Suspiria (1977) ________________ REGION C - The "Party Hasn't Begun Until You've Been Bitten" Region The Thing (1982) Rosemary's Baby (1968) Night of the Living Dead (1968) Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922) (tie) Candyman (1992) (tie) Near Dark (1987) Dawn of the Dead (1978) Zombi 2 ("Zombie") (1979) Poltergeist (1982) ___________________________ REGION D - The "Why Don't Parents Understand?" 5. Dude, that's some funny shit. It's like the Pulp Fiction "gimp" sequence on a LOT of acid.
  6. No, there is no such rule. If you look at some people's votes, they've omitted some choices (I'm guessing due to not having seen 1-2 of the nominees). However, everyone has the right to vote (or not vote) for any of the films. Someone may believe that the one film they've seen is THAT good. If so, they should vote for it. I agree, some films may get slighted due to being obscure, but that's the breaks. IMO, if you're going to produce something that good, it'll be seen eventually. People have to use their own judgment.
  7. Describing the 2000-2005 Cruiserweight "divison" as "fact-paced" and "high-flying" when the wrestlers aren't 1/5 as quick or exciting as they were in 1996-1999.
  8. Fiction?
  9. Never heard of it. What is it? Whedon?
  10. Sounds like the pitcher that gave up the double blew the game. And the relay throw.
  11. HOLY SHIT. Rollins scores from 3rd to win the game on a Burrell STRIKEOUT, breaking free of the run-down!
  12. Phillies bases loaded in bottom 9, 1 out. Deja Vu from last night. I think Burrell will come through, actually...or this crowd is gonna riot.
  13. For the second straight night, Tomas "Useless" Perez does nothing with a chance to win the game in the 8th.
  14. I hadn't heard Everclear's "Santa Monica" in like 6 years.
  15. "I think the trading deadline has become overblown in general." This I could agree with, as the trade deadline to many seems to be "WHY DIDNT WE DO ANYTHING, WE COULD HAVE FIXED EVERYTHING!" In the case of the Phillies, they've been doing the same with arguably the same/similar type lineup/players every year, so I think the "FIX IT NOW (or at least try!) AT THE DEADLINE!" argument has some merit to the suffering fans. This "Jerome Williams" pitcher for the Cubs sure looks a lot like SNL's Tracy Morgan.
  16. There's like 7 matches determined by 1 or less votes....
  17. Will this be like the "End of an Era" match in WWF 1999 where Dames says he's leaving and then just comes back a month later?
  18. Um, Star Tropics anyone? This list blows, BTW.
  19. TONEEE!! DERE'S A LADY IN DEE MEN'S ROOM! Smackdown: Michael Cole: "Haha, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back as me and my partner Tazz call for you the "Smackdown Matches" here at SummerSlam! One story that's been brewing is the rivalry between Jillian and Torrie Wilson! Well, get this, and wow, Tazz, this is going to be GREAT! It's a "First Lady Out of the Men's Room Match", here at SummerSlam! Haha! What a great night, only a match that "Smackdown!" could bring you! Dusty is found on the toilet, causing Jillian to lose after attempting to eat her face, mistaking her growth for a mustard covered pretzel. "My God, Tazz! The American Dream is on Smackdown!"
  20. They could've unloaded Abreu at the deadline (I'm not just using him because I don't like him). They could've traded Howard, as well. They could've sent Burrell packing. They could've unloaded Rollins. Three tradeable commities. None of those three (besides Howard, who has a lot of promise, and is gonna probably be needed to replace Thome) have done anything in terms of helping the Phillies even make it to the playoffs.
  21. The Philadelphia Eagles make moves to acquire great players. They have great ownership. They have a LEADER at the helm. They're also among the 2 best teams in the league. The city loves them. Don't shit on Philly fans just because I, and the rest of them, and hating on the Phillies. Their ownership is NOT changing. Ed Wade isn't going anywhere. The team has NO pitching. NONE. Brett Myers is a decent third-in-rotation pitcher, and they're expecting him to be the ace now. Unbelievable. They did NOTHING at the deadline. They can't win on the road. Their big-contract stars like Thome and Bell are slumping, either due to injury or just not being very good. Of course it takes effort to win a playoff spot. But the Phillies have shown no effort in many, many years. And it's pathetic. I don't listen to Eskin, actually. I find his views too extreme. Similarly to how you probably view me. I've been hitting Phillies games up since 1989. I know the team, and I know when its time to dismantle a big-budget DUD and start over. Now is the time. But if you want to continue to support the overrated "superstar" Bobby Abreu, as he strikes, strikes, strikes, strikes out over-and-over again, go for it. Enjoy the .500 season, with wins at home over sub .500 teams and getting swept by every decent contender.
  22. jm29195, could you be clearer with two of the votes who you picked? They didn't bold. I'm going to close the first round TOMORROW at 10 AM, a day early, since I think Friday may be a little long. Get those votes in
  23. "including a probable MOTYC" Wow, this is wrestling's darkest year ever.
