  1. "Three years in a row would be enough for even the hottest modern act, but Hunter isn't even that." HHH is WWE's most recognizable star. Multiple beer commercials on all the time during football games and primetime, muscle & fitness magazines, USA commercials, the DX Gimmick (which are the #1 most popular ShopZone items), plus his inclusion on tons of WWEs (WWE Title, his own, Benoit, Flair), etc. Add in Blade: Trinity on cable now. Does he deserve it? Probably not. But there's not one person you can name that is a bigger "name" on Raw, Smackdown!, or ECW - and that's a fact. H carried Cena to a good match at Mania and a great 3-way (along with Edge) at Backlash. And was quite funny on the Raw Reunion show. Stop hating. They barely have any marketable stars.
  2. I hope Taylor can still go, because he didn't look very good in WCW.
  3. Like you expected anything less from a HHH/Orton match than a Pedigree and Orton's hot new program derailed. If Randy just RKO'd Edge last week he'd probably win the World Title in a sea of fans at WrestleMania. Alas, hindsight is...
  4. Funny, Meltzer's source left the show because it was that bad and won't be sending Smackdown results in.
  5. I wonder how Batista loses, since the Booker as World Champ commercials/Raw promos are in full force. No offense to Booker, who is one of Smackdown's MVPs for '06, but man did they wreck Batista.
  6. Between Cena, Federline, Steve-O and Jackass Shithead #2, moviestars are getting work left and right! You sure Russo went to TNA?
  7. PWSpyware and Wrestling Observer reports seem to coincide and be legit. Dark Match: *WWE United States champion Chris Benoit defeated Sylvan with the Crippler Crossface. Monday Night Raw *Raw opens with Edge and Randy Orton coming to the ring dressed as DX (Edge as HHH, Orton as Michaels), cutting a promo on HHH and Shawn Michaels and on the fans for buying DX merchandise. This leads to DX hitting the ring. Orton challenges HHH to the main event of Raw. *Cryme Tyme debuted, defeating two members of the Spirit Squad using a TKO/neckbreaker combination. I do not believe it was a WWE Tag Team title bout. Spirit Squad began arguing and fighting amongst themselves after the match. *Jonathan Coachman was speaking to King Booker backstage when Cryme Tyme came into the scene. They got off a line by Booker where he told them he doesn't speak ebonics. *WWE Intercontinental champion Jeff Hardy won a Four Way over Shelton Benjamin, Chris Masters, and Super Crazy pinning Masters with the swanton. *Backstage, Vince McMahon approached King Booker and Big Show asking where John Cena was and teasing his big announcement. *Melina and Johnny Nitro promised they had a big celebrity and brought out Kevin Federline. That got the most heat of anything thus far on the show. John Cena came out and rapped about Federline, then knocked Nitro out of the ring. Big Show and Booker T both came out, which saw them go back and forth on the mic. Vince McMahon came out and announced at Cyber Sunday, the fans would have the ability to decide which of the titles would be on the line. Cena asked Federline which title he wants to see defended and ends up giving him the F-U, which got a huge reaction. *Rob Conway came out and complained about not being used. Carlito came out and squashed him. *They did a backstage vignette where Edge and Lita asked Vince McMahon about getting a title rematch, but McMahon responded that Edge & Orton would face DX, presumably at Cyber Sunday. *Steve O and another cast member from MTV's Jackass came to the ring and said they were willing to take on anyone. Umaga came out and destroyed them. It appeared live that Umaga may have been stiffing them because they weren't selling enough. *Maria won a Four Way Bra & Panties match against Torrie Wilson, Victoria, and Candice Michelle to advance in the WWE Women's championship tournament. *The Tournament Semi-Finals are Maria vs. Lita and Melina vs. Mickie James. * Triple H defeated Randy Orton Can't Beat Triple H after a chairshot and Pedigree. Orton appeared to injure his foot. ___________ Smackdown: *MVP came out and cut a promo about Kane, leading to Kane coming to the ring for an impromptu match. Kane defeated MVP via DQ after a lowblow. *Backstage, King Booker was taping up to wrestle. Booker vs. Batista is the main event tonight. *Elijah Burke defeated Vito after Sylvester Turkay interfered. *William Regal did a promo saying he wasn't going to be Smackdown's whipping boy anymore. *Regal and the debuting David Taylor then defeated Scotty Too Hotty & Funaki. *Chavo Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio in a Loser Leaves Smackdown I Quit Match. Good match that saw them do dives off the rampway. Mysterio ended up hung upside down from the Titantron scaffolding and Guerrero was beating his leg with a chair. Rey kept trying to hang in and not give up but finally quit. *Backstage, Matt Hardy and Gregory Helms were arguing. Helms claimed that he could beat anyone. Teddy Long ordered him to wrestle Undertaker. *The Undertaker pinned Gregory Helms with a tombstone. *Next up is a Diva Danceoff. Miz was the host. Aaron and Nick Carter were the judges. Kristal Marshall won. This was said to have been the worst segment of the entire taping. Batista defeated WWE World champion King Booker by DQ. John Cena and Big Show were both at ringside scouting Booker. It ended up with Cena and Batista battling off Booker and Show. Teddy Long came out and said that he was going to try to sign a tag match for next week's Smackdown main event.
  8. Connection by Elastica was used (very briefly, they used another Elastica song more often) for the "live event" commercials for upcoming shows back in 95-97ish. It was basically a page that read: "THIS SATURDAY AT THE ARENA!" "TAZ Vs. PAUL VARLENS" (example) then a T-Shirt ad, then another venue, etc. It's an awful song that was used for Pepsi and other crap, I believe.
  9. The Hollywood Blondes, it was announced, moved their training facility to Hollywood, CA and set up a private "studio" there where they scouted film. So their attitude, home, training facility, studio, everything had VERY much to do with California. Pillman and Austin were also billed as from Hollywood, CA when wrestling in singles bouts, as opposed to Cincy for Brian.
  10. Austin being a "Hollywood" star will eventually lead to the return of "Hollywood" Hogan, creating the match-up of the two biggest stars in the history of business and the most over match of all time. If you think about it, the WM gate could possibly outgross Austin's movie gross. Judging from how the first two WWE Films failed to get anyone to see them, it could happen. But right now WWE can't even promote wrestling right. So I expect Austin to face Cena at WrestleMania and lose. (BTW, if done RIGHT - meaning Battle Royale style and not "big BOOMS and lame jokes Cena movie" style, the plot for Austin's movie isn't terrible.)
  11. Lashley accidently spears Batista, Booker retains.
  12. Ok, so Havoc '89 has its flaws. The crowd has to ensure an 8 minute (?!?) match between Tommy Rich and The Cuban Assassin. And Doom hadn't learned how to wrestle yet, as their offense is AWFUL and sleep-inducing. But Rick Steiner was on fire, going crazy with every punch. Dudes/Freebirds is fun for all the wrong reasons. The Dudes totally wrestle as babyfaces, do every lame babyface cheap pop double dropkick fist pump in the air and EVEN POSE WITH A YOUNG TERRIFIED CHILD before the match and the crowd just MURDERS THEM. Seriously, the pop for the Freebirds getting the pin is the loudest thing on the show by far.
  13. Call me when they have a 2-hour TV show. Otherwise, not interested.
  14. The commercials for CS so far have featured all Raw talent.
  15. WWE No Mercy 2006: Kendrick & London absolutely worked their asses off, displaying more athletic ability, selling, creative moves, and double-teams in their match with the green James & Stevens then I have seen all year in WWE. Everything told a great story, they worked harder than 1996 HBK, carrying the newbie team to the match of their lives. It's a **** match. And everyone, even the valets, was 100% spot on. ___ Hardy/Helms was a really good opener with a hot crowd, solid build of their previous matches, and excellent last few minutes. *** match, easily. Good stuff. Helms drilling Hardy w/ 3 straight inverted Unprettiers and then Hardy responding w/ 3 straight side effects was cool. Plus a FLYING SHINING WIZARD. Come on! ___ Miz's Birthday Segment - Would've preferred another fun Tatanka/Miz CHOPS OF DEATH match, I guess. Layla is just gorgeous. Still, should've worked towards another match, this was obviously more filler to replace the Finlay/Batista singles match. Groan. ___ MVP comes out dressed, as JBL said, "Like a Bud Light can", and the crowd starts a "Power Ranger! chant. And JBL makes the match by claiming Marty Garner "Just Walked Out of a Concentration Camp!" "Play of the Day" finishes. This PPV has been derailed. ___ Taker hitting Kennedy with the title made sense, and was the only appropriate finish. Kennedy obviously wasn't going to beat Taker, and Taker didn't need a win over Kennedy. Kennedy beats his 4th World Champ, and why wouldn't Taker hit him with the title, it's not like it was on the line. Lame ending, but the only real option. ___ Rey/Chavo was a realistic, ECW''96 type of crowd-brawling match. It wasn't great, but I liked what I saw. It actually needed, IMO, some in-ring moments and about 5-6 more minutes in different parts of the arena. But I liked it, Chavo acted like a vicious killer, and Rey used the environment well. Finish was a tad blown. ___ Cruiserweight Benoit/Having a Bad Day Regal time. This PPV will likely have 3 matches at ***+, plus a main event that could be interesting. Works for me. ___ Benoit and Regal have a classic. A classic. Watch this. Easily their best WWE match, and close to the Pillman show bout. The commentary is insightful, the mat wrestling is great, the stiffness is all over the place. One of the best Regal matches I've ever seen and the return of my favorite wrestler. You two get ****. ___ Regal's subsequent standing up to King Booker, the self-absorbed asshole who could care less about Regal, was done really well. ___ Overall - 1. Matt Hardy def. Gregory Helms - *** x - Booker/Sharmell/Regal promo - Good 2. London & Kendrick def. James & Stevens - **** x - "The Marine" trailer - Momentum Killer x - Regal/Vito promo - Bad x - Teddy Long/Miz/Layla/Johnson segment - Could've been worse. Miz was hilarious acting like an annoying 8 year old who saw a girl for the first time. 3. MVP def. Marty Garner - * x - Naked Regal/Vito/Teddy Long promo - Uncomfortable to funny. "Horseplay in the hall!" 4. Mr. Kennedy def. Undertaker by DQ - ** 5. Rey Mysterio def. Chavo Guerrero (Falls Count Anywhere) - ** 1/2 x - "The Marine" premiere footage - Enough. 6. Chris Benoit def. Sir William Regal - **** x - Regal/Finlay/Booker/Sharmell promo - Excellent
  16. Chris Jericho and Trish Stratus. Boy got publicly played by a female. You don't forget that kind of embarassment.
  17. McMahon giving worked "advice" on how to speak properly is a joke considering everytime he's been on national television - XFL, Bob Costas, and especially David Letterman, he has come off as a loud "Rasslin Guy" and embarassed his company.
  18. From Horsemen to Horsefaces - Lita and Edge are NEXT!
  19. Flair and Anderson would NEVER consider Piper and nWo members DiBiase and Wallstreet (who put Flair on the shelf in 1996 for 8 months) friends.
  20. Or it could be Piper. Which makes no sense as these two hate each other.
  21. Looks like my prediction of the Horsemen reuniting for one time to run off the Spirit Squad might just come true afterall.
  22. Smackdown!'s next 6-man tag is 4 WCW Saturday Night main eventers and 2 roid monsters.
  23. Hey can someone please gimme a run down of what happened: Matches, angles, funny "reunion" stuff, etc.
