  1. Was the guy always this insane when he talked? Here's a promo from Nitro before Slamboree 1997, where he teamed with Ric Flair and Kevin Greene to take on the nWo. Flair and Greene are standing there as Okerlund interviews Piper and here's what he says: "Isn't it funny, isn't it funny that everytime I'm here the big bald guy happens to stay at home. All I see is instead of the big bald guy, I see all these nWo gorillas, asking Congo - at least in Congo the gorillas pick the lice off each other. These particular guys, they don't have the brain of a tsetse fly between the whole batch of 'em. The nWo, which I'm up to here with, and I'm telling all of them to come on down, come on down to Charlotte at the next pay per view - we'll take on the whole batch of you. They come out, they're in spandex, right? They got Eric Bischoff with Rodman's T-shirt on going "I'm too sexy for Dennis Rodman, too sexy for Pee Wee Herman" while the rest of the nWo are in spandex jumping out of the closet. Heck, I'm going to go to the closet and see what they're afraid of in there. They call him the Godfather, old baldy. I tell you what, if I'm in bed and I see a dead horse's head, I have a barbecue. Hang on, hang on. I tell you something nWo, you big tough guys, you ride your skateboards and try and to be so cool on the asphalt, there's a couple of guys from the east coast and one from the west coast, who was down when there was 300 people in the garage, fighting each other, taking axes, beating down trees, pouring that asphalt, beating down trees, pouring that asphalt, beating down trees, starring in Starcade, starring in Wrestlemania. And if it wasn't for us paving this smooth road, you might not be so damn cool. Let me tell you something else nWo. We've got a guy who runs through seven 320 pound guys every day of his life to get the ball, and his name is Kevin Greene." He then introduces Greene, and he and Flair finish the interview. I'm sorry, I was watching this and I just had to transcribe it - I was laughing my ass of at this stuff.
  2. From what I read, Flair was criticizing Foley both for only doing the "hardcore" style, and the fact that he can't wrestle. He's right - Foley couldn't go out there and wrestle for 60 minutes with Benoit or Eddie. But hey - there have been much worse than Foley who have been to the top of the business. Just out of curiousity, who was responsible for Flair's burial in WCW during the nWo days?
  3. Ventura was liked at first as governor, IIRC, because they had a budget surplus his first year there and things were going well. Then the economy started to go downhill and Jesse's popularity REALLY declined. There was no way in hell he could have won reelection.
  4. The shows look somewhat okayish tonight.
  5. Damn, I was hoping for a poster that showed Bradshaw chasing around Mexicans.
  6. Why did WCW never have backstage interviews/promos, etc?
  7. Benoit vs. HHH vs. HBK: Benoit wins it with a sharpshooter reversal on Michaels. Orton vs. Foley: Orton with the RKO after Mick takes a bunch of bumps and Orton takes 1-2. Edge vs. Kane: Kane wins by DQ after Edge uses the cast. Set up a rematch between the two. Jericho vs. Trish/X: I think they set up the finish of this match on RAW. Christian said he'll beat up Jericho, which he will. Trish will get tagged in for the pin, Jericho kicks out, and then he finishes her off for the win. Victoria vs. Lita: Victoria I guess. Don't really know or care that much. Shelton vs. Flair: I think this will be the first match and that Benjamin wins it. Tajiri vs. Coach: Comedy match I guess. Tajiri wins, gets beat up by somebody who Coach can manage or something. Who knows.
  8. As Vince says..."anything's possible in the World Wrestling Federation". Or WWE, whatever. I really don't know about the idea, though. It would probably be cool, but I'd still be uncomfortable about it.
  9. Why didn't the Jericho vs. Shamrock match happen at Unforgiven 99? I believe Shamrock was hurt, but he wrestled at the Smackdown before the show...so what happened?
  10. I sat down and watched RAW with my girlfriend for the first time, and that was the show Kane set JR on fire. Ugggh.
  11. No, it's not all Bradshaw's fault. Somehow, I don't think an angle where he gets his hat taken away and stomped on is really going to bring in the $$$$.
  12. The big question in all of this... WHO WILL MAKE SURE BISCHOFF DOESN'T GET CORRUPT WITH POWER ON RAW??? WHAT WILL WE DO WITHOUT A SHERIFF????
  13. Click on the big "Stone Cold Update" link.
  14. Interesting. He'll probably head to Japan occasionally and hang out with Goldberg.
  15. When did Bradshaw become entertaining? Making fun of mexicans? Been done....several times, and it's stupid. Having political videos to insult his opponent? They just did that with Orton...and Ortons were better. Give him a cowboy hat? Probably on loan from Shawn Michaels. NOTHING about Bradshaw entertains me, and what was entertaining has been done before, and better. I would have to agree here. Hating mexicans = not entertainment........ Clearly Vince and Stephanie don't agree with you...
  16. A Tajiri/Eugene tag team? Come on now, Dave...
  17. I don't expect the ratings to go up anytime soon...but you know that Vince will use stiff competition to keep justifying the Bradshaw push. At least last night's show wasn't too Bradshaw-heavy...
  18. Jericho/Rock HHH/Foley HHH/Austin
  19. I'm confident that Eddie can carry Bradshaw to a match that's better than Lesnar/Holly at the Rumble. One thing I really hate about the Bradshaw push is that he's getting a world title shot WITHOUT WINNING ONE SINGLE MATCH! He hasn't wrestled since getting pinned by Rikishi!
  20. I just saw an ad for Backlash on ESPN...interesting that they had Goldberg and Austin in it.
  21. Hey, if Foley is going he can carry anybody - he had a good match with Van Hammer, for crying out loud. But I know what you're saying. I'm really not looking forward to Orton vs. Foley because it's going to be like the old Rock/Foley matches...just Foley taking a bunch of bumps.
  22. A Backlash preview: *Chris Benoit vs. HHH vs. Shawn Michaels - For a number of reasons, both because it's been hinted at and because of the location and expected crowd reactions, I expect a match at the same level as Wrestlemania, and with the same result. It's both the perfect city and the right time for Shawn Michaels to make a heel turn, so we'll see if that happens *Mick Foley as Cactus Jack vs Randy Orton - Based on the hype, this hardcore style falls count anywhere match promises to be a bloodbath. Foley had dropped tons of weight, and is motivated by the fear of a bad match. After four years out, doing his first singles match, I expect ideas to be flowing. Whether Foley can be the Foley of old after four years away is a question, but physically he's probably both rustier and feeling a lot better than in 2000 when he had the classic two matches with HHH. Today's Orton isn't the HHH of 2000, but the goal for the match is the same. *Edge vs. Kane - This is a tough one because Edge in theory should win in his first match back because he needs to get off on a good footing. However, I do have the sense people aren't quite ready for him to beat Kane, so it has to be done in a way he "earns" it more than blows him over. *Chris Jericho vs. Christian & Trish Stratus - They did the screw job at Mania so it's Jericho's turn to win. This may be the time to introduce somebody new to the Christian stable, so get Stratus over as doing two people and put more heat on the program, since it appears to be working. *Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair - This is a test for both. It's Benjamin's biggest career match and the result should be obvious. For Flair, he's been in the U.K. all week doing promotions, he's hardly 100% and everyone knows how old he is. Flair is the key to the match, if he can rise to the occasion. *Victoria vs. Lita for the women's title. A rare babyface match. Lita has the more natural charisma but Victoria's wrestling has been far better. I see the other women getting involved after a Victoria win to built up Victoria & Lita as a team. *Tajiri vs. Coach. My idea here is to get Eugene and La Resistance involved. Coach managing La Resistance is good for him as a heel and puts them on the map. Granted, Grenier isn't there but Conway is. Also, affiliating Tajiri with Eugene gives it a tag feud, reunites Tajiri & Regal, and La Resistance are the right early foils for Eugene. If you're going to do a comedy feud, you might as well get the naturally funny people all together. ****************************************************************** HBK heel turn? Interesting. I'm guessing a DQ finish for Edge/Kane now, I think. I'm also guessing that A-Train joins up with Christian as a running buddy, bodyguard type character.
  23. Tony was always funny when trying to give "attitude" to the heels. Like the first quote I posted in this thread: "We talked so much about it. What if Savage wins the title? What if Hogan wins the title? Whats gonna happen? Who's going to have the power in the NWO? But I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't give a darn!"
  24. Reading that over again...when was the last time creative thought of anything for Misterio to do anyways? It's not like his feud with Chavo leading into No Way Out was creative brilliance or anything. And I can't even think of anything before that. The WWE seldom comes up with any cruiserweight feuds/storylines/etc.
  25. I wouldn't be too worried until he starts crucifying people or something like that. I really don't see how last night's vignette would be seen as really offensive unless you were REALLY religious and taking things a bit too seriously. He's a BAD GUY, afterall.
