I'll say this: If they AREN'T paying, then WGN is run by idiots. Honestly, their FSN ratings are pretty miserable. -=Mike They are? I thought their FSN ratings were great considering the timeslot and what other shows on the network get.

Matt said in one of his interviews that he'd go back if they asked him. He might have said too much publicly now for that to happen.

I'm more interested in Kane vs. Viscera than a lot of stuff on the show this Sunday, sadly. I want to see the crowd reactions to Lita... But there's no way they can bring her out in front of a live crowd on PPV now, can they? It could be REALLY funny if they do. I bet they shoot an angle where Viscera and Trish attack Lita backstage or something, so she doesn't have to come out in front of the crowd live. But we'll see.

I'm graduating from college in May so I need to get rid of some of this shit before I move. So hopefully you guys want to pick some stuff up. Prices are $7 shipped for the first tape, $12 for two, $15 for three. This includes shipping to anywhere in the U.S, but add a dollar to each price if its in Canada. Here's what I have: -IWA-MS Put Up Or Shut Up 1st gen, January 2004: (Hero/Daniels loser leaves town cage match, Chikara match, Webb vs. Delirious, Steel vs. Lynn, more) -IWA-MS Simply of the Best 5, + main event match from PWG 88 Miles Per Hour 1st gen -WCW Uncensored 1998 and Slamboree 1998 1st gen (together on one tape) -WCW Thunder episodes for 7/16/98, 8/5/98, and 8/13/98 1st gen (one tape) -WCW 1999 year in review (a 2 tape set reviewing all the big PPV matches and angles that set them up throughout the year, from Souled Out to Starrcade. Pretty cool stuff actually) -WWF Survivor Series 1991 1st gen -WWF Survivor Series 1993 1st gen -WWF King of the Ring 1993 and 1994 1st gen (together on one tape) -WWF Judgment Day 1998 1st gen -WWF Judgment Day 2000 1st gen -WWF RAW episodes for 2/1/99, 2/13/99, 2/15/99, and 2/22/99 (buildup and fallout of St. Valentine Day's Massacre - great Rock vs. Foley ladder match) -WWF RAW episodes for 3/1/99, 3/8/99, 3/15/99, and 3/22/99 (buildup to WM15) -WWF RAW episodes for 3/29/99, 4/5/99, 4/12/99, and 4/19/99 (buildup to Backlash) -WWF RAW episodes for 6/28/99, 7/5/99, and 7/12/99 (one tape) -WWF Heat episode for 5/30/99 1st gen (one tape) -I also have a three tape set of about 21 or 22 RAWs from 1996. It covers July - December, skipping 2 or 3 shows during that time period. I'd check, but my VCR is broken. If you have any specific episode questions, ask me and I'll probably remember if it's on the tapes or not. This is a three tape set, which costs $15 shipped. For match listings, www.thehistoryofwwe.com and www.ddtdigest.com are good sources. Or ask here. PM me if you are interested in anything. I suggest you get the good stuff fast, since it's first come first serve. I may add some more stuff later, so keep checking back. Let me know if you have Paypal, since that makes everything a lot faster. Thanks!

In the clip with HHH dropping a guy on his head with a sick pedigree, people think it's HBK in the ring with him.

1. Regarding Sgt. Slaughter's heel run, was he promised a big babyface run afterwards for doing it? Or did they turn him face afterwards because after the stuff with Hogan they had no use for him as a heel? (and no reason for him to keep getting death threats) 2. With Bam Bam getting promised a babyface run in 1995 for jobbing to LT at Mania, did they ever promise him something specific? (As in the WWF title or IC title or whatever) Were there ever any other possibilities of guys who would do the job to LT?

Okay, so as far as I know, the buyrate number equals the percent of people with capability to order a wrestling PPV who did. For instance, let's say a PPV gets a 1.0. Then 1% of people with the capability in their house to order it did. Is that right? I'm trying to figure out how well PPVs prior to 2001, especially older WWF and WCW PPVs did buyrate wise. For instance, how did the first fourteen Wrestlemanias (not counting the first, of course) rank for amount of buys? Summerslams? Royal Rumbles? When is it fair to start comparing buyrate numbers? And how can you take a number from a past WWF PPV and figure out how many people bought the show? For instance, Wrestlemania 10 got a 1.68 buyrate. But how many people actually saw the show? Was it a success or a flop?
-
From 1990-1999, in a head to head matchup between WWF and WCW, who would you give the nod to in each year for having a better product? And then adding up your totals, who had a better decade, product wise?

Who wrote this, out of curiousity?

What did he say? I believe he called her a fat cow.

1) Was there a bigger push ever planned for Tatanka? Going undefeated for almost 2 years is crazy, even at the time period. Did they lose faith in him in 1993, causing them to have him get beaten by Borga? Or did they never really ever have any big plans for him? And if not, why have him go so long without losing? 2) May be a stupid question, but were there ever talks of having Team WWF lose at Survivor Series 2001, just for shock value? Maybe run an angle leading to Mania where the WWF got to return? 3) Was the Invasion angle originally planned to go on much longer, and they just cut their losses by ending it at Survivor Series? 4) Is there anywhere that lists how many buys old WWF and WCW PPVs got?

This was posted a while back on the WC board by Meltzer, which is why I thought otherwise:
-
That Survivor Series 1997 was set to be Bret's last match with the company.
-
He was feuding late 1996 and in early 1997 with Bulldog, so I always thought that might have been his match. The way I see it: HBK vs. Hart Undertaker vs. Sid Austin vs. Bulldog 6-man streetfight Rock vs. Owen Goldust vs. HHH Vader/Mankind vs. Furnas/Lafon Something like that.

Credit: Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter Multiple TNA sources say the company is on the verge of announcing a new TV deal in the United States. The announcement could come within the next week or two, but they are bound by a confidentiality agreeing at this point and can't detail what it is to anyone yet. The best guess at this point, since Spike TV has said they don't have interest in TNA, is that TNA struck a deal with WGN, which as noted here previously was the fallback plan if Spike TV didn't work out. WGN was once a Superstation much like TBS, but it's ratings are just a blip on the cable map at this point and they've done nothing to create a niche image for themselves or invest in quality first-run original programming. They're basically back in the '80s still when it comes to their schedule, airing Chicago sports, syndicated reruns, and local Chicago news programs. TNA could get a good deal with airtime on WGN, so it's possible they've negotiated to get a Monday night primetime slot in the hour preceding Raw, if not two hours with a one-hour overlap. Jeff Jarrett has talked about that dating back more than two years as TNA's eventual goal, since he remembers fondly the adrenaline of being in the middle of the Monday Night War era on both sides - WWF and later WCW. His argument is that wrestling fans look at Monday night at Wresting Night, and if they were to be the same night as Raw, it would give them instant credibility as a serious up-and-coming competitor to WWE. With TNA's lease at Universal Studios expiring in June, and with WWE's new agreement with NBC Universal, there has been speculation that TNA will be moving its tapings elsewhere. If they could save on the weekly fee they pay Fox Sports Net for their off-prime-time slots, they might be able to invest in more frequent tapings (although probably not anything live due to the satellite expense) and also meet payroll on a timely basis.

When I first read that, I said "Who the fuck is Scotty Moore" Haha, I edited it. I mean...um...he's Shannon Moore's spiker-haired brother!
-
Thought I'd start a non-spoiler thread for those of you who ask for this type of thing...here's what you can expect to see on Smackdown: Velocity: 1) Bashams vs. Scotty 2 Hotty and Shannon Moore 2) Akio/Kidman vs. Nunzio/Funaki 3) Orlando Jordan vs. Charlie Haas Smackdown: 1) Kurt Angle invitational 2) Paul London vs. Chavo Guerrero 3) MNM vs. Eddie/Rey 4) Matt Morgan vs. Mikey Whiplash (not Whipwreck, mind you) 5) John Cena vs. Rene Dupree 6) JBL vs. Angle vs. Big Show vs. Booker T (elimination match for #1 contendership) Plus Angle is the guest on Carlito's Cabana, more goofyness with Heidenreich, and more.

Nothing too big, but here ya go: Lisa Copeland said both Adam and Amy had heat they had oppurtunities to tell the truth but they still lied. Adam apparrently told Laurinatis, that it was his own business, and no one else's. He also named names of other wrestlers who were sleeping around on their wives. This may tie in with Rhyno, because Rhyno said in Puerto Rico his own release is tied in with the Lita/Adam/Hardy thing. On the Cauliflower alley club thing in Vegas, Bruce Hart did a 40 minutes speech on his Father's last words and Ripping on Vince. Paul Jones also did a anti-Vince speech, he called Vince a cunt. Adrian Street and Miss Linda were married at the at this event. Mil Mascaras was told he had to remove his mask if he wanted to walk around the casino. A few months ago at a different casino El Hijo Del Santo was told the same thing. Nicho was told be the WWE he could be starting any week now, that's why he pulled out of his Mexico bookings. Sabu said at his benefit shows in Tokyo that he'll do the 6/10 show in Philly, but nobody in the WWE has contacted him yet about the other one on 6/12. He and Heyman still have heat from when he refused to job for Super Crazy. But Dave said they do want him. They also told Shane Douglas he couldn't use the ECW name in any way. WWE has no interest in Samoa Joe. Morale is up because the wrestlers got a hugh payday because the success of the Raw vs Smackdown video game they got a payday of between $35,000 to $90,000. Between that and the mercandising money some got a six figure paycheck. He talks about the Heartbreakers, Shawn Michaels wouldn't let them use the Heartbreakers name. There were 2 incidents over mania weekend. Lance Storm was teaching the OVW guys how to behave in the locker room. How to get along, not look stuck up, respectful, stuff like that. And talked about the reputations of Bob Holly and JBL. And how there was no room for this kind of behavior in 2005 wrestling. Word got back to Holly and JBL, who were not happy about this. But Storm was just trying to teach them how to avoid problems of this type. 2nd incident: Johnny Jeter was hanging around backstage with the Bashams, who he's friends with. They asked how's like in OVW. He said it sucks. He doesn't like being in a tag team with Matt Copatelli and he didn't think it was good for him to be considered a tag team wrestler. Word got back to JBL who grew up a fan of the Rock N Roll Express and the Midnight Express and team like this. He was pissed and ordered some minor hazing of Jeter. Jeter told Storm, and Storm said that stuff is stupid and don't listen to JBL. At mania weekend, JBL and Holly saw Storm and JBL told him off. JBL challenged Storm, but Storm just ignored it and left. So the story is Storm was professional and JBL unprofessonal, but since JBL is the bigger star, the word was Storm backed away from a fight. On a CNN interview Vince said the keys to leaving Spike were the Telemundo deal and the NBC specials. Rico Constatino and Adrian Street met at the Cauliflower Alley Club, talked about using Adrian old gimmic, and having so much in common, both getting into wrestling rather late in life, the gimmick. Rico quit All Japan when some wrestler there started shooting on him, but Dave didn't know who, (Anyone here know?). He was half of the Asian Tag Champs at the time. Rico is now retired from Wrestling and working as a full time fireman in Vegas. What remains of Wildside will be taken over by Rick Michaels and Thomas Simpson who ran Omega. The idea is to turn Wildside into Omega with Hardy since Wildside has TV.

Thanks for the details. Did they announce Backlash matches of Kane vs. Vis and a tag team turmoil match like was rumored?
-
Here are quick spoilers for tonight's Raw. They are brief and probably not in order. Batista opened the show and introduced Jim Ross. HHH came out. They teased a fight but didn't happen. Christian and Tomko were in the ring. Kane came out and destroyed Tomko. Christian ran away and then asked HHH for help. Chris Jericho vs. either Sylvan Grenier or La Resistance: Jericho wins. La Resistance attack him after the match. Shelton Benjamin comes out to help but Jericho ends up pushing Shelton. Shelton hits his finisher on him and leaves. Divas and Daily Star women came out to throw a "party" for William Regal. Daivari and Muhammad Hassan came out and challenge Regal and Tajiri. Haasan and Divari won the match. Edge beat Val Venis. Edge kept attacking him until Benoit came out and hit Edge a few times. Chris helped Val up. Batista vs. Christian: Coach is ref. Game is the "problem solver" and Ric Flair is timekeeper. Batista won after knocking Christian out and forcing Coach's hand to tap the mat. Trish/Viscera sketches aired throughout. She says she'll reward him after Backlash, where he fights Kane. Quite funny. Was also a backstage bit with Hogan and HBK, talking about Backlash. --PWInsider.com

No, but I could rearrange them like that.

Looking through this week's wrestling quiz on the Wrestling Observer webpage, I was wondering what the answers to these to questions are: 8. Larry Zbysko got some heat when someone he was feuding with suddenly passed away from a drug overdose. Larry went on Nitro thereafter and said that he had some comments on that person, but in respect for his family, he wouldn't say them. Some took it as Larry not dropping a feud for storyline reasons, which shouldn't have mattered because jeez, the guy just died. What WCW mid-carder was Larry feuding with at the time? 10. In 1995, America was deeply engulfed in the case and trial of OJ Simpson. What wrestler tastelessly went on WCW television with a black glove and threatened everyone that we all know what people in black gloves are capable of?
