Usually after each show. In all seriousness, the last Raw there was indeed the Steiners/Quebecers title change. WWE actually used the venue once since, for One Night Stand '06. Smaller arenas. Madison Square Garden (current incarnation) was built all the way back in the 1960s. This page will give you an idea of some of the historical venues used in wrestling. http://basketball.ballparks.com/NBA/misc/pastindex.html Not all of them hosted wrestling, but that's what was available. Now if you're talking WWWF from the 1970s or early '80s, they would run smaller buildings for their tapings and build towards larger arena shows.

Nah. A first baseman with a .379 slugging percentage is probably not going to merit a guaranteed gig.

BPro projects Guillen for 13. The only reason Guillen will hit 20+ home runs is that the Royals feel obligated due to his contract.

Sorry. I've been reading too much Joe Posnanski.

Shoot. And I'm going to a house show tomorrow. -
Oddly, I watched everything BUT the Monday Night Wars.

Anderson wasn't expected to testify at all. And from what I understand of the case, the government is highly unlikely to win without Anderson testifying.

Just got an email from Amazon about the Summerslam volumes (at least Vol. 1) going on sale March 10. $34 for 1988-92. I am all over that.

There's something funny about this Dodgers' offer again. A player option worth less than the first year of the deal?

Wrestling Roster Draft: Luxe & Reduxe

My next selection recreates one of the longest running feuds in wrestling history. The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes -
Picking a right fielder for Team USA is an absolute bitch. Markakis, Ludwick, Bradley, Hamilton, Werth, Pence. Lots of guys on the same level.

Wrestling Roster Draft: Luxe & Reduxe

I thought about taking Tokyo but I didn't want to adjust to a Japanese roster. If someone else wants a city in that region, they can take it. I'd be surprised though. -
Wrestling Roster Draft: Luxe & Reduxe

Let's see. Interesting to see what is still available at this point in the draft. For venue, I am going to take the Mid-South territory. The home venue is the Louisiana Superdome. I also intend to stake claim to Oklahoma, Mississippi and Arkansas. My first pick is one of the most versatile wrestlers of all time, Terry Funk. -
This is a tough choice. I'm going with a real dark horse, but this pitcher struck out 126 batters in 77 2/3 innings last year across AAA and the Majors. RP Jason Motte

EVIL~! alkeiper replied to Mik's topic in Sports
Why not? I mean it's not good PR but there's nothing inherently wrong with it. -
SP Clay Buchholz I know it's not him, but it's the first Google Image result and I'm not topping it.

Best one-on-one, one hour match of all time? My vote goes to Bockwinkel/Hennig on that one. -

Brooklyn Zoo, I hope you intend on broadcasting your shows via the Dumont Network. -
I plan on buying Out of the Park Baseball myself. It's a simulation, but the amount of customization possible is absolutely incredible. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ As far as the Show from '07 to '08, I assume those massive changes were in the Road to the Show options? I found regular gameplay almost exactly the same. It does not accurately simulate a real baseball season or franchise at ALL. Rookies are given low ratings regardless of what their actual skills are. The game moves and feels like crap. And it's buggy.

A bit of background on this one. For years, WWE ran frequent shows at the Catholic Youth Center in Scranton, PA. Its history dates back at least to 1964, with Bruno Sammartino main eventing shows. Even as the Attitude era flourished in large arenas, WWE would come back to the CYC and run shows in front of 3,800 fans. In the Summer of 1998 however, the catholic leadership saw the product becoming too distasteful, and barred the WWE. So wrestling left the area for two years. I never saw a wrestling show at the CYC, but I did attend a Harlem Globetrobbers game there. The best information I can find is that the CYC is now owned by Lackawanna College. Here's a virtual tour of the facility. http://www.ecampustours.com/VirtualTours/V...83&ItemID=8 July 16, 2000. For the first time, the new First Union Arena at Casey Plaza hosts a WWE event (they had WCW Thunder in January). I had upper deck seats to catch this lineup. Bull Buchanon defeated Al Snow WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero defeated Perry Saturn Taka Michinoku & Sho Funaki defeated the Dupps WWF Tag Team Champions Edge & Christian defeated the Acolytes The Undertaker defeated Kurt Angle via count-out Ivory defeated Jackie WWF Hardcore Champion Steve Blackman defeated Gangrel WWF Hardcore Champion Steve Blackman defeated Essa Rios Matt & Jeff Hardy defeated Road Dogg & X-Pac Kane defeated the Big Bossman None of the matches truly stands out. Undertaker/Angle really turned out to be a dress rehearsal for their Fully Loaded PPV match, minus the finish. This was a good show though, nothing was remotely close to bad. Three years later, first level seats at the same venue (now called the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza). Maven & the Hurricane defeated Lance Storm & Chief Morley when Hurricane pinned Morley Christopher Nowinski pinned Tommy Dreamer WWE Women’s Champion Jazz defeated Trish Stratus and Victoria by pinning Trish WWE Raw Tag Team Champion Kane pinned Christian Bubba Ray, D-Von, & Spike Dudley defeated Rico & 3 Minute Warning in a tables match following a 3D on Jamal through a table Sylvian Grenier & Rene Dupree defeated Scott Steiner & Test when Test was pinned as he was distracted by Stacy Keibler and Steiner on the floor Booker T pinned Rodney Mack WWE Raw World Champion Triple H pinned Kevin Nash after ramming the challenger’s head into an unprotected turnbuckle Here things are clearer. The Dudleys' table match was no more than a standard six man tag with a table finish. I was sour on HHH/Nash at the time, but in retrospect I need to admit that they had a fine match. I think arena shows are excellent as a fan. Live television shows can be hit or miss as the company is more concerned with angle development. At the live events, it's simply matches, and every angle is done with the live audience in mind. Coming tomorrow: The Draft Lottery in 2007 and Benoit loses his mind.

Ah. See how much I remember out of this? If it weren't for Graham Cawthon, all I'd remember is Goldust, Shamrock/Christian and the Rock/Austin confrontation.

Kudos to whoever is broadcasting the Mariners/Padres game right now. This guy would be better served dj'ing AM Jazz stations.

Don Zimmer 1978 deserves his own wing. Probably his worst move was leaving Dwight Evans to play in September after he'd been knocked out of a late August game by a Mike Parrott fastball. Evans hit .161 with three extra base hits in September into October. For Yankee fans, how can you forget Buck Showalter leaving David Cone to throw 147 pitches in game five of the ALCS?

And another instance of workers being neutered by the WWE since they weren't about to be allowed to do the violent Sheepherder stuff in Titan-land. Maybe that's one way of looking at it. Of course that gimmick also allowed the team to work a much easier style while making a lot more money on the independent circuit after the fact.

God I missed this game. Right now I've got Bob Uecker announcing the A's/Brewers game on the radio.
