Boxing really needs this fight to give the sport a jump-start. I hope it happens.

Tremendous. The Eagles are in the Super Bowl for the first time in my lifetime.

Salaries would drop as well. The problem is, the union would never agree to such a move, and it would be difficult to sell the concept to fans, who want to see good players return each year. I don't like the idea myself.

I find these lists quite interesting. I knew Davey Boy was good and all, but a better worker than Dynamite by '85? Wow.

Naked Mideon, easily.

You have to remember that the collapse of communism in the Eastern Bloc has opened the door for Eastern European players. So that talent pool has to be taken into account.

Yes. Not to the extent that the Yankees will struggle to score runs, but they'll score less with Womack than with say, Andy Phillips.

It might be hyperbole to say he isn't MLB caliber, but he's fairly bad. At 34, he set career highs in BA, OBP, and SLG. His career high OBP was .349, and his career high slugging percentage was .385. That works out to a below average OPS and OPS=, in the best year he's ever had! In 553 at bats, he collected 30 extra base hits. Next year, its very likely his batting average will fall to his career average of .271, and his OBP will fall to .319. That's near the bottom of the scale as far as full time players go.

Tony Womack? Just because a player is in the big leagues does not make him a big league caliber player.
-
You need infielders too. Last I checked, the Yankees only had three, Jeter, A-Rod, and Tino Martinez.

How is Rodriguez a dick for this. It's not like he went out and bought a billboard. It sounds like an interviewer asked him a question, and he calmly responded. I'm sick of off-hand comments getting trumped up like they actually mean anything.

ESPN.com has a cute article up, citing legal experts and questioning whether Doug Mientkiewicz indeed may claim legal ownership of the baseball... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1972865 This is all well and good. However, if ESPN cared to DO THEIR FUCKING RESEARCH for once, they would find this article... http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...field&fext=.jsp Specifically, this paragraph from the earlier article... So MLB has come out and stated that Mientkiewicz owns the baseball. However, find two legal experts, and you can write yourself a story anyway!

Low? This is far more than I'd be willing to pay for Delgado. He's a good player and all, but first basemen are not that hard to find. They would likely DH Delgado, but I've seen some people list Teixeira as a left fielder.

Let's see, a 24 year old AA pitcher, with a 4.7 K/9 rate. He's got great control, but I can't see him going anywhere.

I know this FM escape stuff is entertaining and all, but please don't derail threads with it.

Yes you are.

I found it interesting that they managed to list Ringo and Zak Starkey back to back.

If you thought the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry was great, you'll love the Party Poker Boston vs. New York Challenge!!! http://www.yesnetwork.com/network/poker.asp That's right kids. We're taking a hot product and flogging it into the ground, and you too can be a part of it!

Conference Championship Prediction Thread

While the snow will have passed, it looks like the wind may be heavy. -
I didn't check the trades or Clemens yet, just the free agents.
-
I decided to take a look back at these. No one correctly guessed Beltran, Martinez, Percival, or Glaus. Twenty out of 23 correctly guessed Varitek's return to the Red Sox. Cuban Linx currently holds the lead with seven correct guesses, but Deranged Hermit can tie it if the Mets sign Delgado.

Conference Championship Prediction Thread

As an aside, I would disregard all these snow reports. Yes, we could get 6-12" of snow this weekend. But it should end around noon Sunday, and there will be plenty of time to clear the field. -
The Astros had money to spare considering they tried to sign Beltran, and they have no other options for the spare money. Without Clemens, the Astros are toast, and lose tons of potential revenue in the process. Personally, I am glad to see Clemens back as a fan. Clemens is one of the elite pitchers of all time, and I would really like to see how far he can go. A 17 win season will place him 8th all time in wins. However, his stalling on whether or not to play is quite maddening. It is a disservice to his team.

I agree with this assessment. Cassell and Sprewell are aging, and Sprewell was horifically overrated to begin with. Olowokandi was hugely overrated as well. They should improve, but they are no longer the threat they were last season.

Which QB has the most pressure on him this Sunday?
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to KingPK's topic in Sports
Michael Vick, specifically from the Eagles' defense...
