TSM Head-to-head FantasyBaseball League~!
MarvinisaLunatic replied to Lightning Flik's topic in Sports
The best available player thing doesn't work in baseball given you have so many positions to fill. Chances are, the best available players through the middle rounds will be pretty good OF or Pitchers but if you draft all OF and Pitchers you'll get stuck with leftovers towards the later rounds for your other positions. In fact, my draft strategy is to completely ignore the OF until the middle of the draft unless there are 2 or 3 Outfielders that manage to fall down a couple rounds in that I want. -
Nah, its the Weapons of Mass Destruction that they'll miraculously find.

Aside from not being up to date (I Rod, Maddux listed as FA, no A-Rod trade) Im not too sure about some of their rankings. For instance: OF Rankings: 1. C. Beltran 2. Vlad 3. B. Abreu 4. V. Wells 5. Ichiro 6. M. Ramirez 7. P. Wilson 8. G. Anderson 9. A. Jones 10. M. Ordonez I don't think I'd have Beltran over Vlad and Abreu that high (after last years blah kinda year, I had him). Preston Wilson's 141 RBI last year was a fluke. They do have Tejada #2 at SS behind Arod, and with A Rod moving to 3rd I guess that makes Tejada the #1 Fantasy SS, although Im guessing ARod will start most leagues with SS eligibility and gain 3B eligibiliy in late April. For the Os fan in me, I don't get how they can have Larry Bigbie higher than Jay Gibbons primarily based on Bigbies last 2 months of the season last year. They also think that Javy Lopez is in for a huge decline in his numbers even though he'll probably get more ABs being the DH. They have Lopez 5th behind Irod, Posada, Piazza and Leiberthal. I can understand all but Piazza.. I think their best rankings are their pitchers, and since Im hoping to go heavy on the pitching, Im not gonna put their list up for that. -
Console lifespan is about 5 or 6 years. Sony was expected to release a new console next year but they pushed it back to 2006 and Microsoft basically did the same. IF the new Nintendo console comes out next year, Gamecube's lifespan would be only 4 years which is extremely short. One of the things that you have to realize though is that most people don't have any systems prior to the original Playstation. People who have all the systems are in the minority. As far as backwards compatibility goes, PS3 and the next Nintendo console are supposedly going to be backwards compatible but I heard that XBox Next supposedly won't be because of a different system architecture (switch from Intel to IBM for the processor and Nvidia to ATI for the graphics chip).

I personally like X Play on TechTV. Between not being biased against Nintendo, having a good bit of humor, having actual really good reviews with game footage to go a long with it, and of course...Morgan Webb................ opps..got distracted for a second..I pretty much just watch X Play and go to Planetgamecube for video game news and stuff.

I got one of those fantasy baseball preview guide thingy's this afternoon. Im all ready to draft a slightly better than crappy team now. -
and dont forget the horrible eye burning yellow skin for the board.

The PPVs should be 2 hours and $19.95, and PPV companies should offer a $5 discount if you order both (making it $34.95 and 4 hours a month) The seperate brand PPVs really struggle to get a full card as it is so I can't see why they can't just cut them back to 2 hours.

I joined on June 31, 2001 and I can safely say that the last 6 months of 2001 on the old board sucked. 10x worse than it is now. If I remember correctly (and everything from the old board is a blur) m pretty sure that was the time of the yellow board, SK as Hitler and a lot of random bannings and pissed off posters. Of the years listed that I can account for, Im going to say 2002.

Last good video game magazine : Game Players/Ultra Game Players. I have yet to read a mag as good as that since they stopped printing back in June of 1998.

I voted for Nader in 2000, but I don't think I'll vote for him again.

This cruiser tag match has been pretty good. -
Im going to be the minority and say that I dont really find Drury or BBCW annoying. Drury's "Thanks." is no more annoying than Kotz's "FO SHEEZ" was or anyone elses sub post stuff. His punctuation is probably better than a few posters so thats nothing to jump on him about either.

I dont have an excuse.

You can use weight in a verry viable comparrison. The Gamecube is much easier to transport than the PS2 and X Box because its probably lighter than both of them combined. The Cube even has a handle to make it easier.

Perry Saturn, yeah..

Would an Edge & Christian reunion
MarvinisaLunatic replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in The WWE Folder
I doubt E & C will reform, unless its after HHH eats..oops..beats Edge and they don't have anything else to do with him. -
Why is Dusty selling all his stuff?!?

Seeing this, I suddenly realized how much I missed his "commentary" on WCW Saturday night. -
The Nintendo "fanboys" want to see Nintendo launch the new console in 2005, almost a year ahead of Microsoft and Sony (who plan to relase their new consoles in 2006). Really, I can't see what sort of advantage releasing the new console in 2005 will have as opposed to waiting and launching closer to (if not still ahead) Microsoft and Sony in 2006. If Nintendo launches a year ahead, the new console will be more expensive than the X Box/PS2 with fewer games and it would put a solid premium on having a blockbuster lineup of launch games to go with it. It will be easy to get the Nintendo "Fanboys" to make the switch but they are going to need to convince a lot of the people who either just bought a Cube because its $99 or haven't bought one for the various reasons that there are. IMO, it would be better if they launched closer to Sony/Microsoft and used the extra year to put together extra blockbuster launch games that would give people other than the "Fanboys" a reason to buy the new console. In any case, if they botch the next console, It wouldn't surprise me to see them out of the home console hardware business, going full force on the Gameboy. But I don't see them making games for Sony and Microsoft like SEGA is doing. Why water down any of their franchises when they can keep making them for the GBA? As far as the new console goes, I still don't think it needs to be made into a DVD player and judging from the statements It looks like it will stay that way. A hard drive would be nice (more for saving games and such). Im pretty sure they will cave in on the online issue although it will probably be more to get 3rd party support than for their own games. Im pretty sure that I read that it will be backwards compatible with Gamecube games which is also nice.

I'll be at the draft whatever time it is. -
His plea to Go..I mean Vince on Smackdown to let him have Goldberg was quite possibly the worst solo in ring mic work I've seen in 5 or 6 years.

I really don't like the autodraft. I spent like 2 hours on my draft list last year and I don't think after about 5 rounds that I had anyone I really wanted. -
And Millen expressed intrest up until the Redskins said: "Sure, we'll trade Champ Bailey, but we want your 1rst and 2nd round draft picks this year." HAHA. Bailey is a good CB but no team is gonna trade their 1rst and 2nd round draft picks for him, especially the Lions who have a high pick. The Pats could do it and still have a 1 and 2nd round pick to work with. It wouldn't work salary cap wise but imagine being a QB and having to decide "Do I throw to Ty Law's side or Champ Bailey's?" I heard a small rumor that the Ravens were interested in Bailey but they don't have a first round pick, but they do have plenty of cap room. They need to spend money on OFFENSE first.

I agree, but I doubt it will work. NBA Draft = 9 rounds, this would be like 18 or 20 rounds, with 2 more teams drafting.
