Does Superjerk not know that the Congress passed the Fair Minimum Wage Act last year which hiked min. wage last July and will go up again next month and the July after that to $7.25 an hour. Does Superjerk know that teenage unemployment went up 3% to 18% in May which was a huge factor in the .5% jump in overall unemployment? Could that 3% rise possibly be because companies eliminated low skill/min wage jobs now before they would have to pay them more next month? How much do you want to bet unemployement goes up again this month? Just a few things to think about. that seems like a reasonable explanation to me, but it leaves open the question of when exactly is the right time to raise the minimum wage? you can't just let it sit there at $5.65 or whatever it was forever. should we have waited another 2 years to raise it? another 5, 10 years? the larger problem isn't that it was raised, the problem was that it stagnated for ten years. when you have to catch up for ten years of cost-of-living increases all at once, there's going to be some severe growing pains. the "but it'll hurt the economy" argument can be made at absolutely any time the minimum wage needs to be increased. The minimum wage is a joke...well a federal minimum wage is a huge joke but even state mandated ones are somewhat of a joke. The majority of workers that earn it are 16-25 and not dependent on what they earn to raise a family or whatever. Anyone still earning minimum wage past 25 needs to reevaluate their situation and ask why the hell they're still making minimum wage after working being in the workforce in some capacity for almost 10 years. If they cant hold a job down or they dont have any skills to apply towards furthering career opportunities or they dont have the motivation to take free classes or whatever to get new job skills, than quite frankly they deserve to barely squeak by on minimum wage. Im not giving them any sympathy and it irks me that the government does. Why bother trying to improve your career skills or whatever when you realize the governments gonna give you a 70 cent raise every year? I wish I got a 70 cent raise every year, but the raise I do get I have to fucking earn by working my ass off for a whole year...and these people expect to just show up to their job and get a raise every year because the government says they dont get paid enough? If more people understood minumum wage and the "who gets paid minimum wage and why" argument, people would be against it because essentially everyone is now paying more for stuff to subsidize teenagers and lazy bums who have no motivation to further themselves because the governments giving them a $2.10 raise over 3 years.

im watching the Showtime card tonight off the DVR about 45 min behind, but Waterman took a finger to the eye from the start of the fight and it kept on going..I dont think they're too consistant on their rules. I couldnt believe Waterman got dominated like he did though, but anyway.

I might be able to pull out 28 innings after all. 4 IP tonight needing 5.2 more with Bedard pitching. My stats are gonna be ugly but at least I wont give up all 6 categories for a braindead moment I had not putting a 4th SP in.

Oscar Salazar, in for Mora who left in the beginning of the game with a knee injury, hits the first pitch he sees in the 9th for his first HR in 6 years to tie it back up at 7. and a couple minutes later a basehit to CF scores the winning run!

You don't think slapping labels on the candidates, the way you are doing, is really a good way to assess them, either? All someone has to do is slap the "big government tax and spend" label on someone and you fall in line opposing them just like you're told. And John McCain actually had a rational, pragmatic approach to immigration, but because of this irrational "deport 'em all" mentality, it had no chance of being enacted. Many jobs that native-born Americans won't take are done by immigrants, and blindly kicking all the illegal aliens out of the country would hurt the U.S. economy. It is important to document who is in the country. Since we need them to be here, and we also need to keep track of them, the amnesty idea makes perfect sense. However, because laws were broken, these people are looked at as the moral equivalent to thieves and drug dealers that must be eradicated from our society. I dont see how the "deport em all" mentality is irrational. The iillegal imigrants are breaking the law and we're allowing them to continue to come in undocumented, while letting companies get away with modern day slavery justifying it by basically saying Americans are too good for certain jobs. Then we use the same excuse the south used "We cant afford to let slavery end!" prior to the civil war as another justification for continuing to allow it instead of putting our foot down once and for all: Build a fence, fine companies that hire illegals and take away licenses for repeat violations, and let the illegal immigrants find their way back to Mexico the best way they know how. If there are no jobs here for them, they wont stay much longer on their own. If they want to come back here and make an honest living, they can come in legally and we have no problem with it. As far as the flow of jobs suddenly abandoned, Im sure there are some pimple faced teenagers/early 20's who cant get a job now thanks to the minimum wage hikes (major factor in the .5% rise in unemployment) that could use a job picking fruit or whatever.

The Os came back from down 6-1 to win 9-6, I missed the comeback...lesson learned. They got a sellout out of a Pirates game so it was even better..maybe they'll start drawing more than 20,000 a night.

You can't move the picks up in value, they're still going to lose picks 1-6 no matter what, so essentially for them its Option A without the 3 year limit. Hot prospects who go undrafted will end up with a draft rank of 20 for 3 years, 15 in the 4th, 10 in the 5th, 7 in the 6th, 4 in the 7th and 1 in the 8th..if someone keeps one player that long (if the league even keeps going that long lol) then congratulations to them for having someone who probably wont be near their real draft rank value until year 7 at least.. -- My keepers will be Braun RD 20 (2nd keep), McCann RD 18 (3rd Keep), Vazquez RD 8 (2nd Keep), Bedard RD 4 (2nd Keep), Gonzalez RD 3 (1st Keep) and Nathan RD 2 (2nd Keep) Essentially should I want to keep them again next year my rounds would be 20/13/8/4/3/2 and the next year after that (2010) would be 15/8/3/1/3/1 which would equal out to 15/8/4/3/2/1. I doubt I'll be keeping anyone besides Braun/McCann/Gonzalez (they are all still young and very good, whereas I can probably do better in the draft for pitchers) past next year anyway so..
