  1. Oh yeah, Thunderbolts is awesome so far, I haven't had a chance to read 113 yet though. And Loeb and Joe Mad are replacing Millar and Hitch right? I don't really think that it's going to stack up, but hey, if they can get more than 2 issues out in a year then it's an improvement.
  2. Naw, I don't see this as Kavanaugh being 'stupid' he's just gone so far over the edge due to Vic getting one up on him at all instances last season. He's not doing this to get the easy bust, he's just been drawn so deeply into the world that the strike team lived. Sure he used underhanded techniques at the beginning, but he never crossed the line until he threatened to put Lem in jail with Antwon (though Kavanaugh did claim that he never intended to, that it was just a last resort threat to get Lem to crack), but now he's so consumed with taking down Vic that he's becoming everything he wanted to stop. Him stopping and seeing his reflection as he left Vic's showed this really well. The downward spiral of Kavanaugh is just so amazingly written and acted and I'm really glad he didn't disappear after last season. Fuck, people killing their friends to save themselves (over a lie too), someone being so consumed that they cross all the lines they're trying to protect, all the fatal flaws in the characters. This stuff is so Shakespearian . I said it last season but man, it's absolutely insane that this show is getting this good in it's 5th/6th season. It was really great before, but this is ridiculous. Oh yeah, and great reference to Dutch's pimp hand with the 'Good girl.'
  3. I think all this meta-camera stuff is stupid as fuck. The show's a live (well RAW at least) sports-type broadcast, it doesn't have a narrative or an omniscient point of view or anything. Stuff like flashbacks/first-person/voices that only one person can hear don't make any fucking sense. If they want to show an edited video package with that stuff, or a promo type thing, then that would make sense. Otherwise it detracts from the show big time. I think the ultimate example of this is when Hogan sees the Ultimate Warrior in the mirror, and WE see it, and the audience sees it, and hell the announcers see it, but Eric Bischoff doesn't and stands there like an idiot going "Hollywood, what is it??!!" Hilariously bad. And people can argue all they want about how they want to make it 'more like a scripted TV show so that's fine.' But that argument doesn't hold at all. This is equivalent to having some random episode of 24 where Jack Bauer all of a sudden turns to the camera and goes "Gee folks, that was a tough one wasn't it, we'll be right back after this commercial."
  4. Bauer V Mackie
  5. I've seen a couple interviews where Quesada has thrown Hitch under the bus when asked about the status of Ultimates 2 (claiming that they had no idea about the project's status cause Hitch has been keeping it to himself) to the point that Hitch had to write in to Newsarama saying 'uh, Marvel knows exactly what's going on with the issue, we're keeping them updated constantly.' Apparently it's the coloring and some absurd fold out spread that's taking the time now. Still the level of delay is disgusting for what's supposed to be a flagship book.
  6. I've kinda liked the New Avengers and Mighty Avengers issues since Civil War ended, which is odd since normally I hate Bendis' stuff. I dig the idea of the New Avengers being underground rebels while Iron Man has his own team of Avengers. And I've absolutely loved Thunderbolts so far. Great writing and art. One question I do have (which has actually been contradticted in different books lately I believe), is what is the deal with SHIELD? Are they international or an arm of the US Government?

    Venom

Eddie Brock's (not Venom) coming back in a few issues of one of the Spiderman comics. It turns out he's at the same hospital that Aunt May is 'dying' from the assassination attempt at. And I also really liked the scene with Gargan in the latest Thunderbolts. And speaking of Carnage, is he still 'dead' from being ripped in half by Sentry in the first arc of New Avengers?
  8. Nor I, really. Unsurprising given the era you and I grew up in. I'm just saying that Duran Duran really isn't what I'd call "British Invasion", you know? Although I suppose that the 80s were a bit (to put it mildly) of a British Invasion... I've seen the Duran Duran 80's stuff (along with the other British new wave stuff from that period) referred to as the second British invasion. So I haven't been keeping up with American Idol at all this season after the initial auditions due to being so insanely busy with school. What's the deal this time? Anyone a complete shoe in to win? Is there anyone who it's a crime that they're even on this show?
  9. I'm glad 300 is doing well because if this movie makes insane bank (which it looks like it's doing for a rated R movie) then the studio is likely to give Snyder carte blanche for Watchmen, and not meddle in making it a typical PG13 superhero movie. And after reading this, it looks like Snyder has his head on straight about Watchmen I love that he says "I think that the appetite for me is to make a movie that feel's more like Taxi Driver than like Fantastic Four."
  10. One thing I don't get is how Marvel gets off charging $5 for The Initiative special (which was a glorified ad for a few of the upcoming series) while DC only charged a buck for Countdown and Brave New World (which were both longer too).

    Venom

....I....agree?? Hold on, did you just call Jim Aparo the shittiest artist ever?
  12. It sounds pretty cool from what I've read, but shit, I barely have time to actually play any games, much less hang around in a virtual world waiting to play games.
  13. Holy crap, I actually didn't see that coming. But hey, it's cool because
  14. So Tony will allow himself to be responsible for imprisoning people in the negative zone without a trial, using super-villains (BULLSEYE for god's sake!) as a team to track down heroes, cloning a God, and assassination of foreign dignitaries with the goal of almost starting a war, and yet the jokers at Marvel are still talking about how Civil War was 'morally ambiguous' and 'neither side was written as the bad guy!' Stark was one mustache twirl away from being a super-villain. "Civil War: I'm with Iron Man" is pretty much the equivalent of "Infinite Crisis: I'm with Superboy Prime"
  15. Yeah, especially since it turns out that the cost savings of fucking the backwards compatibility won't be passed on to the consumer or anything.

    Wii

5 player Bomberman 93 dominates my and my friends' Wiis, it's just so insane and chaotic. And yeah, you definately NEED Gunstar Heroes playing through that in 2 player is awesome.
  17. If it is then that's hot.
  18. Haha, I love the Wizard cover. It's totally like back in the silver age where there would be AT LEAST 2 or 3 of the Superman family of comics A MONTH with "JIMMY OLSON DEAD?" and a grieving Superman on the cover.

    Wii

I don't have a PS2 and I've heard awesome things about Okami so personally I'd be willing to try it out on the Wii even with no motion control at all.
  20. I loved that episode. Yeah Michael was a bit over the top, but we've seen that in the past where he gets so caught up in something that he forgets all the barriers that prevent him from becoming a complete prick. Ryan throwing up the block on the bouquet was amazing.
  21. The level of delay on Ultimates 2 has almost moved into the All Star Batman and Robin level of patheticness, especially considering it's banded about as the best ongoing series out there and was pretty much Marvel's top comic.
  22. Most of these have probably already been posted (or at least seen around the net).
  23. It breaks on Mole.
  24. So who's going to end up being the giant villian who's behind it all and brainwashing Tony? Cause when this first started it had the whole 'morally ambiguous', 'what is the right path', 'whose side are you on?' stuff going on, but now (especially with the Thunderbolts stuff) the 'Pro-Reg' side is being written as so dispiciably evil and moronicly short sighted that there's no way the writers could possibly expect anyone to take them as heroes anymore. I think somethings up with that mother of one of the dead kids, since she keeps showing up and being manipulative. I'll bet she's actually Onslaught (or Apocalypse), cause clearly this crossover doesn't tie in to the X-Men enough for Marvel yet.
