  1. That was an amazing premier. "Maybe we could go out for a beer sometime and you can tell me how you do that to another dude." Kevin just giggling in his interview was awesome.
  2. I always loved Behind the Music: Blue Oyster Cult. I know it's 'overexposed' these days, but I probably would have picked that as my favorite SNL skit even before "Needs more cowbell" became a pop culture phenomenon. My other favorite one is this sketch where they're doing a comercial for some artificial coffee crystal. The guy goes up to people in a restaurant and tells them that they're not drinking real coffee, but when he tells this to Chris Farley, he just snaps and starts killing everyone in the restauant. I almost died laughing when I saw that one the first time. Lazy Sunday gets 'best sketch in recent memory' from me.
  3. Had to put this cover up somewhere. N.E.X.T.W.A.V.E. baby.
  4. Jesus they're going to go soooooo broke on this.
  5. Please, like Cyborg deserves to be in the Justice League. Edit: (I mean, he's no Vixen, that's for sure)
  6. I really liked it.
  7. Second episode was awesome as well, I really like the way that this season is going so far. Bubbles getting dressed up and going to the school was so great, and Prez' double take upon seeing him was priceless. Clay Davis always makes me laugh as well. Actually I think this episode had more funny stuff than any other Wire I can think of.

Especially when Dickinson is singing it.
  9. Man, I'm loving the idea of Skeets as some evil mastermind.

Are you sure? I'm gonna have to check on that, although if it did chart you might remember it was originally a song from Bruce Dickinson's first solo effort (Balls to Picasso IIRC?), so technically it wouldn't count even if Maiden included it later on Fear of The Dark. If I recall, "Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter" was a number one single in the UK. But I don't know if they've ever charted in the US.
  11. Whose side are they on?
  12. Holy shit! Great news.
  13. Yeah, and didn't Carcetti push someone to get the ball rolling on sanitation cleaning up that neighborhood? I'm guessing that all those bodies are going to be found soon...
  14. The Shield and The Wire are completely different kinds of television. And they're both amazingly well done. The Shield has a kind of hyper-realism, but it's clearly written with plot as the main element. It has all these twists and turns and almost Shakspearean tragedies. The Wire on the other hand is just so fucking... real. It's all about theme. There's nothing else on TV like The Wire. And I don't mean that there aren't any gritty realistic cop shows (becasue there clearly are, like The Shield) but there's no other shows that handle storytelling, theme, and social commentary like it does. It's like The Wire just trancends the whole medium. Here's a great interview with David Simon that really illustrates how different The Wire is. Now, I just caught the season 4 premiere and I'm really interested in where this is going. The school stuff looks like it's going to be very thought provoking. My favorite parts of the first episode were: -Snoop giving the hardware store guy the tip. "You earned that buck like a muthafucker man, keep dat shit." -The intercut presentations from the No Child Left Behind Act people to the teachers and the Homeland Security people to the cops with their stupid Powerpoint slides and seeing how utterly useless it all is when there's real problems in the inner cities. "I Am Lovable And Capable" - The shot of Snoop and that dude (can't remember his name) walking by all the boarded up houses after ditching the dead guy in one of them and realizing "Oh shit, so that's why Freamon said that they're never hearing about Marlo dropping bodies."
  15. I didn't really mind the reveal in Identity Crisis because the journey getting there was so good. What started as a murder mystery just kept unraveling and revealing all the dark secrets. I'd say the 'big' point of the series (not in a storytelling manner, but in terms of reprecussions) was not the solving of the murder, but the Batman mind wipe. Plus it made some of the lower tier villians much more dangerous.
  16. Yeah, the old McFarlane special. I was thinking of posting that. Actually after looking at it, I think this one without the gay mechanical arms and in the normal costume would make a good tattoo.
  17. Come on, like this wouldn't be sweet. He's got a hoodie for God's sake! Hoodies rule! Ok fine, you wan't the real Spiderman. Go with this one It totally won't date the tattoo at all. This one would look pretty tight Ok, for the 'real' costume, I like this pose (it's not a great picture)
  18. You should go with the Scarlett Spider.
  19. Wait, you're going to try and sell a Wii for a profit? There aren't going to be shortages of the Wii from what I've heard. It's modified and upgraded Gamecube hardware so the fab process is easy enough to prevent shortages.

I thought Brave New World kicked the crap out of Dance of Death. I don't think there are any really memorable songs off of Dance of Death (I still think it's a decent listen as an album though) aside from "Journeyman," whereas "Wicker Man," "Dream of Mirrors," and "Blood Brothers" all resonate with me from Brave New World. The only songs I did like off BNW were "Ghost of the Navigator", "The Mercenary" and "Brave New World" (moreso the live version off RiR, as the original studio version had no energy). "Wicker Man" is one of their most overrated songs, and the rest of it was just kinda bleh. I think part of my opinion is heldover from '00 when it came out and I was cynical about the reunion, but even listening to it now my opinion hasn't changed. By contrast, it was apparent Maiden was really clicking by DoD's release, and there are far fewer "bad" (where bad by Iron Maiden standards is still better than most anything else) songs on here, IMO. The only songs I didn't care for were "No More Lies" and the title track, or rather, "Chicken Dance of Death" As for this current CD, hopefully I can finally give it a spin today and offer up my thoughts later I think I need to give Dance of Death another listen. After a couple days though so far, I'm thinking A Matter of Life and Death kicks both their asses.

  22. I love all the inuendo that Michael uses throughout the series concerning George Michael and Mabey. Michael: "Why don't you pop a tent with your cousin Maybe" Mabey: "I'm not really the outdoors type" Michael: "Well then this is a good chance for you to rub off on her."
  23. This is all due to terrible blue-ray component yields. God, Sony's obsession with pushing proprietary media formats sure is fucking over their gaming division. If the rest of Sony just let thier gaming divison be, they'd be in a great possition. But no, the rest of Sony has fucked up so bad in the last decade that their only hope is to latch on to the success of the Playstation. Which ironically could end up destroying that success.
