Bullshit. Kid Rock has a lot of talent and gets shit on for no real reason. True.

I think you're being way to general with what makes a 'smart' show. Now, I seem to agree with you on what is a quality show, but just being plotted out over a season doesn't make anything 'smarter' than a show that goes episode by episode. Any hack writer can plot something out over a 22 epsiode run and it can still be shit. Veronica Mars, 24, yeah those are smart shows (Lost I loved until a quarter of the way through the second season but now I can't fucking stand it, but that's an argument for another time), but it's not solely due to their serial nature. A standalone episode of Veronica Mars is still great. And CSI, while not my cup of tea is in no way 'dumb' just because it's procedural. It's pretty well written and has good characters. Something doesn't need a cliffhanger every week (*cough*Lost*cough*) to be good, that comes across really contrived after a while. So in conclusion, I sort of agree with what you're trying to say, but I think you're being a bit closed minded. And is it cool with you if I like American Idol AND Veronica Mars/Arrested Development/The Office/24? Hmmm?

What about this HVD holographic storage system in development that's making some waves. Anyone of the opionion that the whole blue laser disc drive may be leapfrogged altogether? Looks interesting.

It should be noted that not everyone on that cover is probably going to appear in the issue. And where is this "History of the DC Universe" feature you people promised me??? I was wondering that myself. And one should note that Kyle is also in GL gear rather than Ion so it's not 'up to date.' And Booster (why the fuck are people using spoiler tags, there's a giant picture a few posts up that makes it pretty obvious who we're speculating about, plus it's not a spoiler) better not die I can handle everything else that's happened to the old JLI, but not Booster. If he does go, I think Fire better start watching her ass.

Uh, even IF Sony wasn't taking a gigantic loss on their system (they are) and IF Nintendo wasn't making a profit on their sales (they always do) in no way does that satement make any sense. (Well, it would only make sense if the margins were proportional. But 3X the selling price never means 3X wider margin)

The OC's been tanking it this season in the ratings, and it looks relatively expensive to shoot.

Word on the "street" is that Veronica Mars WILL be back.

Everyone needs to put these banners in thier signatures, It'll confuse the hell out of the rest of the board.

Christ Axl, it's been like 5 years since Rock in Rio and you're still playing just 5 'new' songs from Chinese Democracy.

^Completely true. Plus, as awesome a special effects fest a Superman/Darkseid/Apokalypse/New Gods movie would be, I don't really think it would work. I think you have to stay away from making Superman movies too much Science Fiction. I mean, sure it's Superman and there's some really great science fiction Superman tales out there, I think for the movies at least, you have to keep him more down-to-earth than in the comics. Plus there's enough great Superman stories that are less science fiction that could inspire dozens of movies before needing to fall back on that space battles and aliens and the like.

Easy, Batman would use his Anti-Vibranium Spray.

A new TV spot aired tonight during Smallville. AICN has it to download: http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=23302. Nothing new really in the trailer... soooo...yeah.

God this show is too damn good. The end of tonight's episode was intense. I seriously think this show works drama better than almost any sitcom (if you can even call it a sitcom) out there because the characters are just so REAL. Some of my highlights: -Toby running down the reasons why they can't have boy scouts there and Michael's response. -Dwight as the wingman -"My God..." -Creed! That guy is hillarious, his straightforward explanation about stealing. -Pam giving Michael the 'dry runs' on the phone. -"And I am going to drop a deuce on everyone.' -Jim's attitude while confessing to Pam, no bullshit, no sitcom cliche overwrought speeches. That guy is a great actor. The Office started out good, but since the middle of the second season it has just shot into the stratosphere in terms of quality. It's dangerously close to Arrested Development level of goodness now in terms of the comedy.

What the fuck man, so you pull an all nighter and then go to work. Or call in sick or something. Girl trumps work in your situation. Looks to me like you were looking for an excuse not to go over there. blah blah blah fear of rejection blah blah blah insecurity issues. I'm not going to repeat all the stuff that's been said to you a million times in this thread.

That is a damn nice rig right there. For my desktop: 2 Ghz P4 (that I overclock up to about 2.6 Ghz if I'm playing games or audio editing) 1536GB RAM GeForce 6600GT 80GB WD HD 19 inch Samsung monitor (CRT baby, who needs LCD) Normally I'd be feeling the upgrade itch, but I havn't really gamed at all in ages, and I figure that when I do there are enough games that have come out in the past couple years that I haven't played that will still run fine on my system to hold me over for a long time. Maybe I'll upgrade when (if?) Vista comes out and I decide to take it up the ass from Microsoft as usual and early adopt. My laptop is an LG LM40. It's 14 inch. Since I take it to school and stuff I really didn't want anything bigger than 14 inches. It's a Centrino system at 1.5GHz with 512MB RAM, and a Radeon 9200 video card. I wasn't even aware that LG made laptops until I was shopping for mine, but this thing was priced really nicely and had a lot of little features that really impressed like: XP Pro instead of Home, a built in SD card reader, a 3-year warrantee, and the fact that the RAM was packed into one DIMM and it had 2 so I can easily toss another 512MB chip in there when I need it.

So was there any mention of that Lamb stuff, or is it all implied? And yeah, I picked up on the Duncan's hair/Kendall stuff right after I posted that. Still I don't remember that being explicitly layed out. I have this feeling that I missed an episode or part of an episode in there somewhere. I did watch the last 4 episodes of the season in the last 3 days, so it's been ages since I saw any other parts of this season. Once again, I do think this season will play out really well watching it on DVD. Nevertheless, still a great season. As for the realization about Beaver, I think the Chlamydia was supposed to be the catylist there. She found out that Goodman had it, then found out that he molested Beaver, then realized that Beaver must have lied about not raping her and given it to her, and thus Beaver killed everyone. I just think there's some big leaps in there. Still, Beaver as the villian really really worked, and his motivations were all fine. He pretty much instantly ascended to Bond villian level and they still made it believable. So that's all fine, but Veronica coming to those conclusions didn't feel right. Unless I'm missing something. Oh yeah and about the rape, that's some fucked up shit right there. I mean, they started out the first season with the main character getting raped, but then let her have a happy ending and find out it didn't really go down. Only to go "no no no, as it turns out, she actually DID get raped!" That's dark stuff dude.

Batman always wins.

It was fake.

Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, John Krasinski, and best of all, Will Arnett. Well met laddie.

Solid stuff. I agree with everyone that that season would play way way better watching it all at once without huge breaks. I did have a few problems that maybe someone who followed the show closer would be able to answer: -What was the deal with Lamb and Meg's parents? -Duncan's hair on the statue? -I thought that the whole Fitzpatricks stuff which made up a pretty major part of the season had a relatively small role in the resolution of the main plot. -Are we to assume that Beaver framed Terrance, cause that was never mentioned in the big rooftop exposition. -So Veronica finds out that Beav was the other kid who got molested, and immediately jumps to the conclusion that he's the killer? Anyways, awesome show, it's been solidly great since the first episode and hopefully it ends up in the CW line up next year (eeems likely). Which leads us to a great bit from the season finale: Duncan: "CW?" Clarence: "It's a done deal."

Bull-fucking-shit. That blows.

Finally got around to reading this. Decent read, but not to eventfull I thought. I guess the problem I have is that the Marvel brass seem to give away everything that's going to happen in advance these days. Sure it's my fault for reading stuff online, but it kinda sucks that they (meaning Bendis and Quesada) are always like "OMG we are soooooo awesome! People are going to FLIP OUT when they se this this and this." There wasn't a single thing in that issue that surprised me. We all knew who was going to take which side, that Spiderman's going to get conflicted, what the big disaster was. The only part that wasn't layed out in advance was Cap escaping from the carrier. Which was awesome. Oh, and the art was amazing.

He's right, it is too cheap. Sony will be losing crazy amounts of cash on each unit developed, the production cost will be way higher than the selling price. Those blu-ray players ain't cheap. Same thing went for the PS1 and PS2. Microsoft took a fucking wash on the original X-Box, same for the Oh, I know that's the truth, but that's not the consumers problem, it's Sony's. It's nothing but a slippery slope if it's accepted, however, and it has to stop now. Right now they're saying "$600 dollars for all this stuff you get is a great deal!", next time it will be "You know, $800 bucks for all this stuff you get is a fantastic bargain!", and so on and so on. The PS3 with Blu-ray is nothing but a trojan horse, to get Blu-ray as the dominant format. What happens if Blu-ray does die out? Then it will cost even more for those games to continue to be manufactured on Blu-ray discs, and the benefit of having a Blu-ray player is moot. Look at the UMD fiasco. Sony needs to learn a lesson, apparently the hard way. So be it. Oh yeah I totally agree. I hope Sony chokes on this big time. They've had it coming for a while. Sony's probably passed Microsoft in the last year on my personal 'least favorite companies in the world' list, after that rootkit bullshit and all their shoving DRM down our throats. Personally, I think selling these consoles at below cost is a load of bullshit. If this is allowed, all it means is that the companies that have enough capital to fall back on can lowball their products and fuck over the competition. In fact, it's illegal to do this in pretty much every other industry ('Anti-dumping' laws if I'm not mistaken), yet somehow in this industry its allowed. Oh yeah, and the Wii-zapper looks awesome. I can't wait to play some shooting games with that thing.

Eh, depends on what you want to do with your life. I'd argue that doing Broadway musicals would be much more benificial to generate a long term career in the entertainment industry than TV appearances. You'd get real training in singing and acting, plus if you got a lead role in one of the major ones it would be some pretty major exposure. And someone like Katherine could easily get a big role in a major musical. She's definately got talent, maybe not as much as a seasoned pro, but she's in the final 4 of American Idol, a show that gets like 30 million viewers a week. Any producer would jump to get someone with that exposure. I've read that a lot of AI rejects have made their way to Broadway too.
