  1. A friend is working on a project and needs some examples of songs about time being wasted. Can anyone think of any?
  2. Desiree is eliminated
  3. I remember around the last season of Mad About You they hyped a very special episode where Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt were going to let their baby cry in order to try and get it to learn how to sleep through the night. I remember they hyped it as the most dramtic thing ever and went all out, NBC let them go about twenty minutes without cutting to commercial and those twenty minutes were just one shot, Paul and Helen sitting outside their baby's door agonizing over wether or not to go in there and help their baby.
  4. I didn't think the Matrix movies were that bad, just overated (including the first one, even though it's better than the sequals) and I loved V for Vendetta. I'm just trying to point out that I'm someone who's not a Matrix fan, but loved V for Vendetta
  5. Yeah, there's a scene at the beginning of the movie where he gives a speech like that. I thought the movie was great. Somewhat suprised that Warner hasn't caught more flack from right wing types over it.
  6. Is this what you're looking for?

  8. I loved them the first time I had some (at a resturant called Pappa's Seafood). None of the one's I've tried since have been as good.

    ENRON

It aired on Cuban's TV Network (HD Net) around the time it was released in theaters, but it wasn't released on DVD until January.
  10. Another update 2.13 - The Long Con (Sawyer III) airdate: 2/8/2006 2.14 - One of Them (Sayid III) airdate: 2/15/2006 2.15 - Maternity Leave (Claire II)
  11. I think the hype is a detriment the movie. It makes people go into the theater and mentally fold their arms and say "C'mon, impress me". Which just leads to the sentiment of "people, it's not that good". Concerning the ending :
  12. http://www.youtube.com/?v=oMC26mvwQHM This was on SNL back in the fall, but it was the last skit of the night and I don't think many people saw it. I thought it was funny. Anyone else have thoughts on it?
  13. It's a good movie, but it does seem to follow the "Sports Movie Cliche Formula" a little too closely. Granted, if a movie works then it can be as formulaic as it want and still entertain. But for whatever reason, the feeling of "I've seen this before and I know exactly how it'll end" was enought to not put this over the top as far as great sports movies are concerned. I thought Seabiscuit was much better in the depression era sports star who lifts america's spirit genre.
  14. Earliest memories are of Snow White, Pinnochio, and Return of the Jedi. According to my mother, the first movie I saw in a theater was The Rescuers. Actually we were there for Mickey's Christmas Carol which was showing before and Disney used as the selling point in all of the ads (see Mickey's Christmas Carol in theaters and stay for The Rescuers)
  15. Ang Lee won the Directors Guild Award. The track record is 51 out of 57 years the DGA winner goes on to win the Oscar for Best Director. Here are my predictions for tomorrow's nomination. If anybody else wants to post predictions, let's put them in this thread. ******************** Best Picture Brokeback Mountain Capote Crash Good Night, and Good Luck Walk The Line Best Director Woody Allen; Match Point George Clooney; Good Night, and Good Luck Paul Haggis; Crash Ang Lee; Brokeback Mountain Bennett Miller; Capote Best Actor Terrence Howard; Hustle & Flow Phillip Seymour Hoffman; Capote Heath Ledger; Brokeback Mountain Joaquin Phoenix; Walk The Line David Strathairn; Good Night, and Good Luck Best Actress Felicity Huffman; Transamerica Keira Knightley; Pride & Prejudice Charlize Theron; North Country Reese Witherspoon; Walk the Line Ziyi Zhang; Memoirs of a Geisha Best Supporting Actor Paul Giamatti; Cinderella Man Matt Dillon; Crash George Clooney; Syriana Jake Gyllenhaal; Brokeback Mountain Don Cheadle; Crash Best Supporting Actress Amy Adams, Junebug Catherine Keener, Capote Frances McDormand, North Country Rachel Weisz, The Constant Gardener Michelle Williams, Brokeback Mountain Best Original Screenplay Crash Good Night, and Good Luck The Squid and the Whale Match Point Syrianna Best Adapted Screenplay Brokeback Mountain Capote The Constant Gardener A History of Violence Munich ******************** The Acadamy decided to put Syrianna in the Original Screenplay catagory and didn't tell anyone until the last minute, so that might have derailed its chances.
  16. Hell, Hogan once beat Vader in a leather srap match by dragging Flair around to all four corners.
  17. On another issue, a better name for the site would be popuptorch.com
  18. Vince got nervious about business being down, so he thought putting "big guys" in the WM main event would boot buisness. He decided that Shawn would lose the title to Sid and the WM 13 main event would be Undertaker vs Sid for the title with Bret vs Shawn (no titles, just a one on one match) on the undercard. The night Shawn was going to lose to Sid, he suffered a "career ending knee injury" and "lost his smile". Therefore, getting out of dropping the title to Sid and jobbing to Bret at WM.
  19. But then he got distracted and missed it. His friends tried to tell him about it but it wasn't the same.
  20. Peter was also in Shattered Glass, about a reporter at The New Republic who makes up stories. Hayden Christansen played the reporter and Sarsgaard played the edtor. That's what the Cat Fancy skit was supposed to be a take off of.
  21. My choice for best President would be Lincoln. My favorite response to this type of question was from Stephen Ambrose when he was asked to name the best and worst presidents of all time: "The best was Lyndon Johnson, because he told the truth about civil rights. The worst was Lyndon Johnson, because he lied about Vietnam."
  22. Yeah, I also had a problem with the show trying to get the audience to feel bad for Rick after he had beaten Teri. Also thought the shooting storyline would have been more effective if they had killed off somebody. If they didn't want to get rid of one of the regulars, they could have killed off Ms. Kwan or someone else on that level.
  23. For anyone who cares. At a midseaon presentation to critics, FOX revealed who the killer was. I don't want to hear any complaining about spoilers. They didn't film the solution. So even if there's a DVD, the reveal won't be on it.
  24. I think it incredibly naive to think middle class kids don't deal with these issues. While it's streching things for all of it to be happening at this one school, the entire point of the show is to try and tackle every "issue" that teenages could face. Sort of like afterschool specials with a regular cast. BTW Placebo, they're coming out with Season 3 on DVD in March. It's going to have the abortion episode that The N banned.
