  1. from the LAW: *If you missed last night's "Off the Record" with Edge & Christian, it is definitely worth trying to get a tape of. Both were very candid and honest about every topic brought up. The highlights included Edge saying point blank that he's experimented with steroids (I found this so bizarre because for the last hour I had been watching the Major League Baseball congressional hearing with Mark McGwire shying away from answering that same question over and over and then on the very next program they tackled the same topic and Edge was candid and just said he tried, and it hurt his in ring performance). This was taped back in January and included Edge talking about how he is on his second marriage and that relationships are tough in this industry, yeah I guess so. Edge brought up that Rob Van Dam had a chance at becoming that next "big star" when he debuted but was handled terribly, both agreed that Brock Lesnar was never going to be the next Steve Austin and lacked in promo skills. Very good show.
  2. Let's see how she does without Matt and Trey writing and producing beside her. The premise doesn't look too great, and the college movie has been done to death in the past 7-8 years. Pam Brady is supposed to be the next "breakout" comedy writer and director/producer, in the mold of Tina Fey.
  3. Interestingly enough, when that happened, Vince McMahon basically said the same thing. Vince said something along the lines of "No one would ever buy that, I would never do anything like that" According to the sheets, when Vince saw this he knew WCW was going under. Seriously.
  4. have fun with the Astros Joe!!,maybe you can babysit John Franco's new bundle of joy! or perhaps clean the new car the Mets gave Franco for his "years of service".
  5. Name a wrestler and give the worst year of his career. Shawn Michaels-1993. Totally dogged it in the ring for almost the entire year. Gained weight and slowed down considerably. Got into problems with drugs and had a nasty contract dispute that caused him not to drop the IC title in the ring. Just a horrific year for Shawn. HHH-1996. Jobbed to Warrior at WM. Had his intitial heel push stall big time. The Clique incident putting him on job duty. Not winning the King of the Ring as he was supposed to. Not even appearing on the Summerslam PPV. His push towards the end of the year helped, but an overall bad year. Bret Hart-1999. Start/Re-start on several pushes. Was going to feud with Hogan, then wasn't. Jobbing the US title to Piper. The Owen tragedy. Bickering betwen family members. Dealing with Russo and a career ending injury at Starcade Flair-1991. Dealing with Jim Herd. Just a political mess. Was supposed to job to Windham, then Luger, then just quit after not being able to take it anymore. Herd wanted to totally change Flair's look and halter his push. If Flair hadn't jumped to WWF, his career could have really come to an end. You could also argue the past few years for Flair, but I really think he's having fun out there.
  6. Never liked JYD's "Thump" powerslam, didn't sound lethal at all.
  7. the Jake Roberts/Rick Rude feud from 1988. The matches were bad, but the heat and the storyline were great stuff for that time
  8. Marty was probably a better worker from a technical standpoint, but was not in Shawn's league when it came to charisma and promo skills. As far as rumors on who was supposed to get the push, I can't believe that Vince McMahon (in 1992 mind you) would have ever given a big push to Marty Jannetty instead of Shawn, all talent aside. While Shawn didn't have the size Vince liked, he had the overt charisma and could pander to the crowd with the best of them.
  9. it's funny how "classy" actresses flaunt their bodies when they have trouble finding work
  10. She was in The Tuxedo, it pretty much killed her. That and her appeal just wore off. She'd have to go nude to save her carerr, and she better soon cause them things are starting to sag. She's in a new movie for the Oxygen Network, and is basically in her underwear the entire movie. I think she's starting to get it. She has to do T and A parts to get attention and more projects.
  11. Steve Trachsel is out for 6 months with a herniated disc in his back. Hopefully Omar looks for another starter via trade because Matt Ginter, Jae Seo, and Aaron Heilman are all well below average.
  12. I went to Siena College from 1997-2001. Anyone who has heard of the school knows it's a basketball crazy school. My first semester Freshman year I had a class (Quantitative Business) with the new freshman sensation on the team. One day during class, he was goofing off in the back of the room with a couple other guys from the team. The Professor at first says "Could you guys please quiet down" Then it turned to "Could you gentleman please knock it off". Finally he got so mad and said (and I swear this is true) "All of you SHUT the FUCK UP! The kid gets up and says "Don't you know who I am!" The prof replies "No and I don't give a shit!" I ended up withdrawing from that class, because the teacher was a real prick (the entire class failed the first exam and he said "you guys don't know shit, your're not paying any attention god damnit!) It was situation where both parties were dicks, which made it even more funny.
  13. All Christy did was the facial expressions, the moaning was obviously dubbed over. Angle and Linda's line made the commercial
  14. Man, I can't believe that is Stephanie Tanner. She got married to this guy in 2002, at age 20.
  15. I could see Kane winning because in Vince's mind, beating a big guy in a bad match means more than "looking Good" against a smaller wrestler. I think Kane is going over and will be fed to Batista at Backlash.
  16. I like Will Smith well enough, but I can't believe he's turned into such a big draw
  17. Spade totally outshined the rest of the cast last night with his natural humor and charisma. The only one to match him was Seth and maybe Amy a little. I think that is a big problem with SNL today, is that while the cast is full of talented actors, they don't really have many naturally funny people on the roster. Is David Spade incredibly talented? No, but he is FUNNY. That was one the the most obvious carry jobs in SNL history, and Spade nearly pulled it off, but he only was able to get a little bit better than average show out of them.
  18. Someone called Meltzer on this at the Wrestling Classics Board. He had at least a dozen quotes and reviews from old Observers where Meltzer was just KILLING Backlund. Dave's response was a rather weak "Uhhh, I changed my mind, a lot of people change their mind." I find it hard to believe someone could go from openly mocking a worker to saying "he clearly was a huge star in his day" and was "underrated"
  19. does anyone like Phoebe? She is AWFUL. As I said before, she is NEVER funny. A thing to remember too, is that Lisa Kudrow had extensive comedic training in Groundlings and was totally outclassed by 2 big chested hot chicks with no real comedic experience (well Cox was on Family Ties)
  20. Jeff Garcia signs with the Lions
  21. I always HATED Wilson from Home Improvement. The Jim character from Murphy Brown. Murray from the Mary Tyler Moore Show, take him off the show, and it would have been THAT much better. Phoebe from Friends, never, ever, thought she was funny any character played by Christine Baranski or Allison La Placa, the most overrated comedic actresses of all time
  22. What bad breaks are you referring to? Eddy couldn't handle the pressure of being on top, he was so disappointed in himself that ratings and buyrates didn't improve with him as champ. I wouldn't necessarily say he caught a bad break, he just couldn't handle the pressure.
  23. None. yeah, that was a big rumor on the net in 2002/2003, I never really bought into it. Anti-Orton people would always cite it as a reason for Orton not to be pushed
  24. any truth to the rumor that Cornette wanted to cut Randy Orton from OVW, but management refused?
