There was a guy I backyarded with named Kevin Sabo. His in-ring name was Sabotage. Incredibly, his entrance theme was not Sabotage by the Beastie Boys. What specifically happened with Jericho and HHH? I've never heard that, though given that it was the time when HHH's star began to rise, it won't surprise me.

Keep your head hung, Texas just took the lead.

I could use some help, too. I'm trying to change a picture of Steve Irwin and the "Croc Hunter" logo into my face and "Cougar Hunter". It's surprisingly tricky to do on Paint.

Madden, NFL Head Coach, and NCAA Football 2009
CanadianGuitarist replied to Matt Young's topic in Video Games
That's kinda disappointing. The legitimate leagues in the 2k series were phenomenal. I did both a football one with some guys I didn't know, and a hockey one with six buddies. I'd like to see something more like that, but VX killed that horse already. Since I haven't received my pay from last week, I shouldn't get it tomorrow. I'll probably cave and pick one up, though. -
They certainly pushed Taka as a face, but the turn and joining of Kai en Tai didn't do much for him. An endless feud with The Oddities ruined him. As mentioned, Waylon Mercy was an awesome character, and even had a house show series with Diesel for the strap. It's too bad. I'll probably recall Ahmed for his backstage antics more than anything else, but, bad mic work aside, he was insanely over in 96.

It's only a 30-buck payout, but I entirely based my ProLine today on Danks' poor record lifetime against the Bosox (0-2, 8.68). Of course, that didn't work too well last week when Jeff Karstens threw a two-hitter in his second start in eighteen months.

As you eluded to, it's probably moot when you get your new set, as nearly all have multiple HDMI ins. As far as now? When I had my HD set, I ran the set-top box off component for a few weeks before I went to DVI-HDMI. I didn't notice a great improvement, with the exception of text being less noisy. (I watch a lot of sports tickers, although it was hardly earth-shattering). I'd say take the 100 bucks or so that you'd spend on an HDMI switcher (though I'm sure you could find one cheaper on Ebay), and pocket it. For what it's worth, when I get my place back in a few weeks, I plan on getting an HD set again. I found a 3ft. HDMI on Ebay for a buck and a DVI-HDMI for five. That's awesome. My stepdad and I have four times watched TV together since he got an HDTV. Each time, he's put a show on. Each time I've suggested putting it on in HD. Each time he's said "I paid for a full picture, that's what I'm getting. Why would you want to watch a small picture with those bars on the side?" Groan. I ranted about this in this very thread last March, and I bet it was nearly word for word.

I had dinner at Wayne Gretzky's restaurant last October with my dad and brother. We asked how often Wayne was in, etc. She said occasionally, but a handful of other celebrities came in pretty often. When she mentioned Mike Myers, we asked what he was like. She said he was a diva (which a passing-by waitress confirmed as well). We were kind of surprised by it, but after thinking about it for a while, it made sense. Now, the Conan story doesn't surprise me at all. Does anyone think Wayne's World is so beloved is because it was the only SNL movie that didn't suck?

I'm disappointed this didn't take off. Some show on Discovery (RN?) is doing a thing in Zambia comparing hippos and crocs. Apparently, hippos kill about 300 people a year. This crazy fuck is going into a croc farm in South Africa in a wire cage, like the guys who videotape sharks. Edit: RN is Rogue Nature. The graphic under the name said Hippo/Croc, like it was a hype video for a wrestling match. I'm typically pretty indifferent to nature shows, but this looks awesome. -
Huzzah! I have Paul Newman, after all. I just read the thread in Movies about him. It turned out my fist-pump in Sobey's last year over Pavarotti was needless, and that was the closest I've come so far. This comes off the heels of former golfer Orville Moody dying Friday. (See my Gay Brewer comment in last year's pool). There were a lot of black and white clips during this weekend's PGA Championship; I should have been taking notes.

The Things That Anger You Thread.
CanadianGuitarist replied to Man Who Sold The World's topic in General Chat
I'm making my first trip here in a week and change, so pardon my delayed post. Remember a few years ago in Pics I Like, when someone had Booker T in his sig, looking as if he was admiring the picture. Invariably, everyone said "Hey, Booker T's admiration makes it even better!" This principle kind of applies to Great Mazto's donut and bacon sammich avatar in the Taiga discussion (who, by the way, I'm not ragging on). That is all. Wait, no it isn't. Czech grossly misspelled his assessment of retail complaining. The proper spelling is 'true'. -

Sorry, Scroby. I've been the Rams for...wow, this'll be Year IV in KKKBowl if that makes you feel better. -
Unquestionably, Paddy's the PotY in my books. Tiger not being there is irrelevant. Was Tiger not there when Phil won the 05 PGA, 06 Masters, and gave away the 06 US? Was Tiger not there when Vijay won nine times in 04? Was Tiger not there in 98 when O'Meara won two majors. He was there, which proves these feats can occur with Tiger in the field, and as such, shouldn't make Padraig's 2008 any lesser.

Sergio and Paddy coming down the stretch, like at Carnoustie. Hopefully with a similar result. Add Ben Curtis to the mix today, though. "Of the last twenty PGA Champions, thirteen were first-timers. Of the seven that weren't, four were Tiger Woods." Off the top of my head.....2005 Mickelson, 2004 Singh, 94 Nick Price. This'll be the forum for a pretty good few weeks of golf. Mickelson could have entered the PoY discussion, but barring a few more wins for today's champ, or a lot more wins for someone else, I think Tiger gets the nod. Does JB Holmes get a captain's pick? I think so. Does Monty get one? Worked for Weir last year. And the silly playoffs are a mere two weeks away. Edit: Sergio's in the drink at 16.

Hell no. Am I saying you had a chance? Did you look at the standings? It turns out I was a little liberal in my 'top of my head' post. I thought 909 and Max were closer.

I'm a week behind, but Mutant League Hockey for Genesis is a motherfucking magnificent pick. -
14th Place - TakerHart (130 points) 13th Place - EMHE (129 points) 12th Place - Gert (121 points) 11th Place - JJ (106 points) T10th Place - Smartly/Goblin (103 points) 8th Place - MFer (100 points) 7th Place - Treble (90 points) 6th Place - Nskie (63 points) 5th Place - Angle (62 points) 4th Place - CG (61 points) 3rd Place - Max (54 points) 2nd Place - 909 (46 points) 1st Place - CC (26 points) Scuttlebutt: * CC received six first-place votes. Max received four, 909 recieved two, EMHE received one. (This does not factor in EMHE's default one-point vote). * CC's lowest vote was fifth place, 909's was tenth. EMHE and Max each received a last-place vote. (One for Max, five for EMHE). * Only three of CC's votes would not medal at the Olympics. He had two fourths and a fifth. (He also had two seconds). * Apart from his first-place vote, EMHE also had a second and a seventh. Every other vote was double digits. * CG had a range of 2-8. * Angle had a range of 2-12. * TakerHart had sixth last-place votes, and a twelfth. His highest vote was fourth place. * 909, in addition to his first-place vote, had a range of 2-10, including five seconds. * Gert's highest vote was 7. He did not have a last-place vote, but did have two 11's and four 12's. * MFer had a range of 3-13. He had two 3rd-place votes. * Nskie did not have a vote in double digits, nor anything higher than third, of which he was voted four times. * Treble had a range of 5-11, including five 6th-place votes. * Smartly's range was 5-12. He had three 5th-place votes, and three 11's. * JJ had a range of 2-12. That 2 was one of only five single-digit votes. * Goblin had a range of 4-12, both of which he had two. * In addition to his four first-place votes, Max also had a 13. That was his only vote lower than eight, including a second and four 5's.

The OAO TSM "Happy Birthday, you!" Thread
CanadianGuitarist replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in No Holds Barred
Lest anyone think I'm slighting my board buddy, I called him Friday morning. I was going to recommend a name change to eliminate the 'ghost of' confusion, but his YouTube account is CanadianBassist, which does one of two things: 1) Suggests a gimmick account. 2) Still doesn't entirely show up in Venkman's visitors, further enraging him. This could be fun. -

Since my paycheque is being mailed to me from 2500 kilometres away, a week from launch is ideal. I'll enter as the Raiders. Phase III of "For God's sake, let's get something football-related of CG's into the playoffs" has begun. -

Is the Winnipeg Arena gonna be on fire? -
There's not too much economic slowdown in Canada right now, certainly not to the degree to the south. To that end, I'm beginning to think a rent-to-own might be a more viable option. Both TD and President's Choice both offer stellar variable rates at the moment, but require a down payment. I figure both my down payment and closing cost/furnishing lists would be around 6000, so I'm better off in the long run by getting into a place sooner and paying less on a mortgage by putting something down. It turns out the Broker I talked to was really vague; when he said "I can get you pre-approved for $130k on an $100k home", he neglected to mention that it was based entirely on the ratio of the house's appraisal value compared to sale price. That burst my freakin bubble.

You just answered your own question. I'm surprised no one picked up on his team name, which I gave him, due to his indifference to submitting one. The London Silly Nannies were the team Peter Griffin played football for against Brady and the Patriots. This finished before the NBA Draft? I've heard that's been a Gong Show, but I've never actually followed it.
-
I've begun looking at three places that I can technically afford. I'll probably wait until Christmas after all and eliminate my debt altogether instead of bringing it with me into a mortgage, however. I realise that all three likely won't be on the market in four months, but they're pretty prototypical of the houses in the area, so I'm not married to them yet. I'm seeing a vast difference in variable and fixed rates. Suggestions? A perk of the fixed is that TD is offering cashback with them, but if my list of furnishings and closing costs comes to about 6000, I can probably save that up on my own. On the other hand, a variable rate seems like a bit of a gamble. The variable rates appear about the same as they did in March, but, I'm not much of a forecaster on these things. I'm seeing a difference of $15-25k in pre-approval from variable to fixed.

What is "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner"? My friend Krissy and I were playing drunken skee-ball the other night. I let her win, and said that line. She asked what it was from. "St. Gabriel of Djibouti/Qatar's avatar" isn't really an answer. -
Sorry about the delay. I flew back to Niagara Saturday night, and have been at home for literally ten minutes until now. I'm on my folks computer right now, as my laptop is getting fixed up; thus, I have no access to the draft spreadsheet. Off the top of my head: *The Great Ones were the winner. This may not have been the case had EMHE's picks been submitted, and not given my 1/13 point penalty. *I had actually done the opposite for points: A first-place vote earned one point, a last-place earned 13. *The Great Ones, The Calgary Silly Nannies, and The Excitable Boys all earned first-place votes. (I think there's a few others, but again, this is off the top of my head). *The Calgary Silly Nannies, Five for Fighting, and The Excitable Boys all earned last-place votes. Yes, two teams earned votes at both ends of the scale. I don't recall if there were others that were voted last. *It was close between The Calgary Silly Nannies and Five For Fighting for last place. The penalty to EMHE may have given him the nod, but Joffrey Lupul was an extremely second-guessed pick. Like I said, I'll try and put up the official results and some scuttlebutt if the spreadsheet survives its trip to the doctor's, but, at the very least (and for those of you keeping score at home, this was the same pic used for VX when he won my avatar contest last December):
