  1. We're talkin real names, I guess? I was gonna ask initially, but never did, then I saw JHawk's post. I wonder what would happen if we googled our TSM names. I'm sure there'd be lots of pics of Alex Lifeson and Eddie Van Halen, along with maps of Czechslovakia. But Hoff or Venkman or JHawk? Interesting.
  2. Go on. Just add it on top after I ladled the bowl out? I do like eggs and chili quite a bit, so this sounds kinda gross, but interesting gross, not ewwwwww gross, if that makes any sense. By the way, your pineapple pork chili was awesome.
  3. Bears, and question about this lock. This might be a stupid question, but the lock includes the spread as well, right? Either way, I'll say yes to it. Interesting side game. Weekenders forthcoming.
  4. Speaking of Treble, I wonder if we'll see Michael Ryder in a Holiday Inn commercial? "I was a hockey player" "Where was this now, in Jamaica?" "Might have been. Wasn't in Montreal, that's for sure".
  5. Wade fucking Belak scored? There's a lesson in karma to be had here, I think. Mark Recchi has been waived. Maybe some former team should take a run at him, get some leadership on a team of college kids. I don't know. Does Montreal have a team? Yeah, I'm getting worried. Edit: Poor Ottawa.
  6. Did you just say you were surprised how tight a girl in grade 9 with a hairy back was?
  7. You're not alone. I backed into winning it with Umaga in HOF mode, and spent 40 minutes trying to win one in tourney mode for the King of the Mountain achievement. When I thought I had won, I fell from the ladder, but no dice. Jeff Hardy promptly climbed the ladder and held the meter in place for less than a second and won. Incidentally, I paused the game and took my roomate (who'd been watching) to work after that, swearing the whole way. When I got back home, I unpaused it and still got the KOTM achievement. I remember having a similar problem in 07 as well.
  8. TSN's got him listed on their 'dirtsheet' as a possible/likely trade deadline deal.
  9. 5-7. Too little, too late.
  10. WiiPlay is a pretty safe bet. Nine more mini-games and an extra wii-mote, for about the price of a wii-mote? Not every game needs both the nunchuk and wiimote, right?
  11. I know I've argued this before, but I disagree. I know it's a different circumstance, but the title match should be last. Hogan-Rock was third from last right? Followed by 3-way women's dance and HHH-Jericho? I have no problem with that.
  12. Re: the PS3's composite cables - Can they plug into the PS2 as well (and vice-versa?)
  13. Wow. I just turned it on to see the unsportsmanlike, and heard the play-by-play guys essentially say "What a terrible week for Washington! First a player dies, and now this!"

If you go bargain hunting and are lucky you can find 4:3 CRT HD tvs on sale really cheap. You can also get 16x9 CRT tvs with digital tuners that ARENT HD but being passed off as "DIGITAL TVS!!!" at a lot of places for only like $100 less than a HD TV would cost. We actually just got a couple in for the holidays. I was delighted to see them; not only are they a decent buy, especially for those who can't afford/don't want flat panel, it helped me further win an argument about what's going to happen in 2009. And Marvin, the first HD I ever had my eye on was a 27 HD CRT we used to sell. When it was on display new, it was 529. Less than a year later, when we implemented flat panels, they were marked down to 299....and this was two years ago.
  15. I theorized about three years ago, that people finally realised the folly of shopping on the 23 or 24 of December, and kind of all went two or three weeks beforehand, and it backfired. It's probably not all true, but we've definitely been busier in this four-six week span the last two years than we were the first three.
  16. Nope, in fact, we need more people like you. Well, not you, but you. In all fairness, I think most people are like Czech. If Mole and I dealt with this 40 or 50 times a day instead of once, there wouldn't be threads about it, we'd be too used to it. I've probably said this before, but I don't get the stigma that every customer in a store is either exceptionally stupid and/or unruly. I once estimated that of every 10 customers, probably four are generally great, five are indifferent and one is rude or tough to please. I'd say one out of every 100, if that, is memorably bad, like in Mole's story. I can't have that much better customer service skills than any of the other retailers here.

Double edit: Yeah, that makes sense. I probably should have come up with that. Yikes.
  18. I know absolutely nothing about hockey. Not a thing. 0-for-9 on the early games on Pro Line. Zero for fucking nine! Defence? I have two. (That's two more than the Hurricanes, at least): I sincerely thought Jason Blake might not score another goal this year, and the Habs went out of their way to lose to the Predators.

Spent about a half-hour with a customer trying to explain aspect ratio to her. Got me thinking: Is there rhyme or reason as to why HD and most movies are 16:9, and most SD is 4:3?

I've noticed that with my LCD as well. The cable guy said it had to do with the response time of the television. Even so, every DVD I've seen upconverted has looked absolutely beautiful, to the point I would have thought it was an HD DVD or legitimate HD broadcast.

Yes. If you've seen the jump from digital television to HDTV, it's tantamount to the difference between standard and upconverted DVD.
  22. That reminds me. Psychobilly Freakout in GHII. Every difficulty. Freebird, just because it's 20 minutes long... Being the Gamerscore Whore that I am, this past July I started Free Bird 18 consecutive times on medium in an attempt to get the 1000-note streak and 400,000-point song achievements. Eighteenth attempt got me the note streak, but yielded a score of 399,512. I have not played GHII since.

  24. So, uh, what's going on in Ottawa? And Luongo with another shutout, his third straight, this time a 2-0 win over Columbus. His streak is close to two hundred minutes, which eclipsed the Canucks franchise record midway through the first period. And since TSN pointed it out (albeit awfully prematurely), I'll add it here: He's a little more than two games away from Brian Boucher's (honest) record for longest shutout streak of 332 minutes.
  25. It's like Kermit the Frog is calling the game. He just doesn't have an appealing voice for PBP. I wonder which three players Dallas will pick for the shootout. After all, three periods are over*, right? *yeah, yeah, I know. My point is about how much this 'period' nonsense is pissing me off.
