TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to dubq's topic in TNA Wrestling
Aries is smaller then you think he is. He looks 5'8 but he's like at Mysterio levels. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another guy smaller than you think is AJ Styles. Jeff Hardy isn't thought of as being big, but he dwarfs over AJ. -

Meltzer on the LAW says Edge is going to work through his injury as best he can, but Kane seems likely to be taken off of TT. -

Samoa Joe is about 6'0, and could even be shorter. Bryan Danielson is only around 5'9", and Joe isn't that much taller than Danielson. -
Meltzer just said on WOL that Tenay has told him that the special is going to be something that people will look back on as a major turning point for TNA.

I'm really tempted to forgo my DVD stance and just get the VHS. I haven't brought VHS since the old ecw days in 1998. I resisted the urge with Joe Vs Punk II and it really ate at me. Im gonna try to resist again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Give in to temptation. With a match like Joe vs. Kobashi, you really should get it as soon as you can.

I didn't even notice that Kobashi vs. Joe was available. Ordered my copy now, though.

On the bright side, he gave the Angles vs. Shawn IM match ***1/4, which is just within a credible rating range. Also, go and watch a tape of Backlash in 2000, and be amazed at how much the voices of Kurt Angle and Trish Stratus have changed.

He made a scene during one of their tours of England a few months ago. I don't remember the specifics, but he got very drunk and made a complete fool of himself in public. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first time he had done something like that, and it was felt that his dad had pulled some strings to keep Brian his job. With no dad around, Brian had no safety net, and he was living on borrowed time.

It's been a while. Are you people less angry, or is there nobody left?
-
I forget that a lot of people need things made as simple and as basic as possible. When Jim Ross was not coming back to Raw, Shane was going to be a part of things. When that changed, and Jim Ross was put back into the storyline, Shane got taken out. Do you get it now, or should I talk more slowly?

Russo was only in WWE for a day or two before leaving. And I don't know if you address it later on or if I missed it, but Russo had heavy input in TNA for quite a while at the beginning.

Two Stars Suffer Serious Injuries at RAW
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
WWE make as much money off of PPV's than Raw, if not more, because USA keeps all the ad money from Raw. It's why overloading Homecoming was shooting themselves in the foot. WWE only have two such specials in their new deal, and there are more than two PPV's you'd be giving up. I don't know if WWE are keeping any ad revenue from NBC in that deal, but I wouldn't think they are getting a good deal from their perspective if they are. -
If there was one PPV that defined WCW...
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to CBright7831's topic in General Wrestling
He wasn't physically able to. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't forget it allowed WCW to "swerve" and we know that was the cool thing to do. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That whole match was a complete disaster, and really exemplified how beyond clueless Vince Russo truly was. -

Maybe that's the Taboo part of Taboo Tuesday <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whatever it is, Vince should really start rethinking 14 PPV's because the buyrates are horseshit since he turned to a 14 PPV format. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's been making more money with this format. They aren't getting rid of the format. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The total number of buys is about the same as before, with the bigger PPV's carrying things, as they usually do. WWE is making the bulk of its money off of foreign tours. -
Maybe Dusty was backstage and got hungry.

They had to change things when Mike Goldberg turned them down. And if Mike Goldberg had come in, they were going to have him change his last name. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know Mike Goldberg turned them down and he was going to be the one to replace JR, but what does this have to do with Shane and who was going to change their name? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The original plan was for JR to do commentary on the internet and not come back to Raw at all. With Mike Goldberg not coming in, they, it seems, have decided to bring back JR to Raw. That meant changing plans, because JR coming back to Raw was not what they intended. And WWE were going to change Mike Goldberg's last name when they brought him in. They don't like that Goldberg name.

Meltzer just posted that TNA won't be showing the match on Impact, and instead will air a Christopher Daniels dark match. And no, it wasn't an angle.

Not likely. Jeff likes being the big fish in a small pond, and Jeff's power in TNA has increased in recent weeks. -
So....why was MikeSC banned this time?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Styles's topic in Site Feedback
That depends. Are you happy Mike is gone? -
For true realism, they need to make the game data reset itself every three months so that Jeff Jarett keeps getting the NWA title back no matter how many times he loses it.

I’ve watched more of the Ted DiBiase shoot interview. Ted talks about why he decided to leave the WWF in 1993 because of a personal crisis he suffered the year before. He says he liked going back to All Japan, and says Baba couldn’t have treated him better as DiBiase and Stan Hansen won the Double Tag Team titles in the main event at Budokan in Ted’s first match back. Ted talks about his injury, and that if he had not had the Lloyds of London insurance policy then he would have considered having the surgery to repair his neck and take his chances. Said Bruce Prichard called him in early 1994 and asked him if he wanted to come back to do commentary in the Royal Rumble PPV, and that led to his coming back as a commentator and then onto being a manger. Ted said that when Sid came back, they asked him to stay with Sid to make sure Sid didn’t do anything stupid. Ted felt that they were trying to ease him into the role of a road agent, which Ted didn’t want to do because of the travel. Ted responded to the request by telling them he would do it but only if he was put on salary, had all the benefits, and had his travel and hotel costs paid for. They never asked him again. Ted said he left because of the direction the WWF was taking and that WCW was offering him good money, but that even had he stayed he would have left once the Austin 3:16 and women nonsense started. Liked being in WCW until Eric Bischoff turned heel and that left Ted with just the job of carrying Hogan’s belt, and Ted felt disrespected by that. I’m watching the 2003 Jim Cornette shoot, which is tremendous. Highlights include Cornette’s tirades directed against Rick Bassman, Wade Keller, Ian Rotten, Ed Ferrera, and Vince Russo. Cornette talks about tag team wrestling, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, OVW, and many other topics. I’m almost done with the Super Junior Cup Stage 2. Dos Caras looked great against El Samurai, using a lot of very unique and different submission holds that I’ve never seen before outside of Mexico. Caras against Gedo was good, and when Gedo pulled Caras’s mask off, they digitised the shot of Caras’s face. Otani against Dragon was tremendous, and would have been right at the MOTY level, but the finish was badly botched. Jericho and Benoit had a great singles match too. I’m also watching Big Japan Pro Wrestling’s Ante Up. This has some guys from CZW as well, and you can tell that nobody in there has a clue about calling stuff in the ring. In the Rukus/Trent Acid/W*inger match especially which was a joke in itself, guys were set on doing the match they had worked out or walked through beforehand, and if anything went wrong, which happened all the time in the three way, guys would just stand around with their thumb up their ass and literally stand still and wait for the other guy to get back into position for the spot that they had planned. The violence was as you would expect from BJPW or CZW; pointless and done for no reason other than to do it. I’ve seen most of the card so far, and nobody made any kind of attempt to try and make the matches look spontaneous, and it was embarrassing at times to watch a lot of not very talented people attempt to be wrestlers.

Maybe I don't know a lot about injury, but if someone had a broken back, even something slight, wouldn't you know it pretty quickly? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really. Sandman broke his neck and didn't know it for a couple of years. Gary Wolfe didn't know right away that he broke his neck either.
