    I hate Smush Parker.

Bonzi has pulled quite the magic trick in Sac. He's been quoted as saying he loves the town and wants to stay, basically throwing the ball in managment and the Maloofs court in terms of possibly being the bad guy if they don't re-sign him. He endeared himself to the fans too. I just hope people do understand he was in a contract year and while he dominated the Spurs series, he can meltdown just as easily as Artest can.

I know he pulled down 8 mil this year, which was the final year of the contract. No way I'd give him more than that per year, so the only things are to either a) let him go or b) sign and trade.

I'd say go with b), but I'm not sure who could/would take him? Not too many teams I can think of that need a shooting guard except Denver, and they want more of a spot-up, pure shooter type.

The Kings still have to figure out whether to give Bonzi a contract or not. He wants 5-6 years guaranteed. I don't feel comfortable with anything over 3 years guaranteed with perhaps a player or team option in the 4th. I'd love to unload Bibby and/or Miller because I think the window is sort of closed in terms of building around them. They are skilled players no doubt, but they are soft in the playoffs and while Bibby is a very clutch player, he is a defensive siv.

Just to pick up where we left off on KG talk in the conference semi's thread...

KG may also be headed to the Bay Area since there is interest in a deal with either J-Rich or Baron Davis, along with Troy Murphy or Ike Diogu, and a couple draft picks for KG. I think GS will land either Iverson or Garnett this off season. They have to. Their division is a killer. The Suns will get Amare back and be just as good, if not better. The Lakers should get better. The Kings, if Artest gets a training camp under him, should get better. The Clippers will probrably stay the same. The Pacific will probrably be the most competitive division next season.

I wonder if Kwame Brown is/was distracted by the sexual assault allegations? For the Lakers sake, you'd like to think it was that as opposed to a "Kwame being Kwame" type deal where he becomes known for not being reliable in a clutch game.

Sporting News is reporting that the Lakers may still be looking to deal Lamar Odom because Jerry Buss doesn't want to pay such a huge luxury tax hit and Odom's contract will do nothing but balloon in the next few years, making it harder to sign FA's or re-sign guys they may be cultivating right now (such as Walton).

I would just like to remind you that Smush Parker is one of the big reasons the Lakers won that game 4 classic. He sank a 3 in the final minute to help get the lead back down and stole the ball from Nash at the end of regulation. Now, I'll admit he sucked pretty bad for the rest of the series, but he isn't the sole reason the Lakers lost the series being up 3-1. I just find it funny how quick some forget Smush's contributions were less than a week ago and now all of a sudden he's Laker public enemy #1.

  7. Putting aside the knowledge Dana White would never go for this, this was good stuff. Not sure if I'd have used Jarrett for taking Dana out since it babyfaces him to a degree, but he's as good as anyone on the roster to do it.

What were your plans for Joe? I figure you'd have him come behind Dana to choke him out and show him a pro wrestler could choke a person out as good as a UFC Fighter could?

  8. Stop being modest Laker fan.

The Suns have no heart and they are done. They walked off the floor with their heart and pride cut out. They don't have the resolve to win another game. The Suns are finished on Tuesday. I don't think Nash has an injured back. I think he sprained his pussy.

As Jim Rome says, scoreboard. While I think either a foul or timeout should've been called on the Walton jumpball, Nash shouldn't have choked up the ball in regulation for there to be OT. Simple as that.

Stop kidding yourself about a competitive LA series. 5 game Laker series, max.

  9. Yes, but I was starting to have to put money into it the last year of my having it. Since I moved to the Bay Area, I started putting more miles on my car traveling to and from Sacramento. I figured since I make more money, I might as well get a new ride.

  10. Corollas rule.

I got a '96 Corolla brand new only 2 years removed from high school. I said good bye to her last year and got a fully loaded '04 Corolla, which rules since gas in the Bay Area is now $3.00 a gallon and I'm getting roughly 30 mpg between little city and lots of freeway driving.

  11. Speaking of sprained ankles, I've sprained both my ankles over quite a bit from basketball. My left one moreso than my right. My left ankle now makes a snapping noise when I go up steps or if I rotate it in certain ways. If I go up too many steps, it starts to flare up and get sore. Sometimes the soreness doesn't go away for a day or two. A doctor told me that one of my many sprains tore a ligament which didn't heal properly and the snapping noise (sounds like a stick breaking) is part of my ligament snapping over the bone.

So yeah, sprained ankles suck ass.

  12. I think this year's WM was pretty good. In hindsight, I wish they would've cut Boogeyman/Booker and the pillow fight to give more time to the SD 3 way. Orton/Rey/Angle were on the way to having a great match and the finish kind of came out of nowhere, which hurt the pop Rey got because they didn't build up to it enough.

Still, while the show didn't have anything I'd rate over four stars there was a special feeling enough to justify this as a good WM. One thing WWE does well is WM, which has had a grand feeling to it since '98 (WM14).

  13. I engage or hang with, on a regular basis, about 2 friends from HS. I've got about 4-5 other friends from HS who I see maybe once or twice a year, if that. Everyone is different. I find a lot of people who drift away from friends, post HS. Didn't do the college thing, but my wife did and she didn't really find too many people she'd call actual friends. She found a lot of people who are of acquaintance status, but for actual friends, college didn't provide many.

None of this will probrably help you. As far as ex's, you handle them better than I. I don't do well dealing with the ex's.

  14. Being an A's fan, I was hugely disappointed in last night as well. I was watching the National championship game all the way through to the second half. Since that started to get ugly, I decided to see how the A's were doing.

I ended up turning the National Championship game back on after seeing the score in the 4th inning. Here's hoping Harden and Haren/Blanton (not sure which is 3rd) clean up. (that is if they aren't rained out)

  15. I am starting to have a problem with NFL defensive play celebrations as well. I can understand if you hold a team to a 3 and out in a close game in the 4th and celebrating here and there, but the defensive players are as bad as the WR's now in that they are over celebrating even the smallest and simplest plays. God forbid a quarterback gets sacked now in the NFL, because you are going to see a 25 step jig from whoever brought the QB down.

  16. It's subjective, WP. There is a case that can be made for Em being #1. I don't necessarily agree with that, but a very good case can be made on Em's behalf.

If you only know Eminem on that list, then you really have no business criticizing it because about 80% of the guys Carnival named deserve to be on it. I think you only knowing Eminem on that list says more about your lack of knowledge about rappers and hip hop than anything else.

  17. I think Hulk Hogan matches are a great case where from a technical standpoint, the matches fucking suck. The execution is usually half assed and/or sloppy. They are even more formulaic than your average match and talk about no-selling. If Hogan's run were to be booked today, there'd be a shitfit on the 'net about how Hogan is killing finishers left and right. Thing is, that was WWF's formula at the time. Run with one godlike guy that everyone knows is going to prevail in the end and since he had charisma for days, he could pull it off.

The important thing to remember is, this all drew tons of money. Sure, I really didn't care for it, but it worked. It did 3 essential things...1) It drew money 2) It sent fans home happy 3) They wanted more of it after it was over.

Up until about 2-3 years ago, I was very guilty of ripping matches apart that didn't fit a certain guideline of what I thought a match should be. Part of it was being exposed to puro, which is more realistic, and MMA. Then as I started to get more into Lucha, I started having fun with it, even though the action looks more choreographed than an Indy spotfest. Thing is, it worked. The crowd loved it and I could see why. Now, I'm more of a fan of what works versus what doesn't work. Some things work for the majority of fans that doesn't work for me, which is fine. It doesnt' mean those fans are idiots or are wrong with their feelings. It also doesn't mean there's something wrong with me. Sometimes, a crazy non sensical spotfest will work better on a certain day than a brilliantly worked match that is technically flawless.
