  1. A lot of things in wrestling depend on how much you suspend disbelief. No one can whip you into ropes or cable and you rebound off of them and fly back at the same speed, however we all accept it. Some can accept the Canadian Destroyer, some can't. Still, a whole lot of stuff in wrestling that's basic is not plausible. Not saying people who can or cannot accept certain moves are right or wrong, just saying in the entire world of pro wrestling, most of the shit is not plausible. We accept wrestlers staying in promotions even though their boss hates them. Look at the latest Austin bit. Why have Austin fight for JR's job when they already fired him and fight for his own job as well? Why put this up in a wrestling match. Why dont' they just fire Austin and be done with him? How can a retired wrestler fight for his job? Even in OVW, the owner did an angle where he wanted to make the heel champion's life a living hell. Why doesn't the heel champion just quit? Why would you stay at a job where your boss blatantly tells you that they are going to make your job suck? Bottom line: We, as fans put up with a lot of implausible shit in wrestling, from moves to storylines.
  2. Follow up does matter a whole hell of a lot as well. A lot of HHH's programs end once HHH outsmarts or defeats his opponent. Austin kept getting shot after shot against McMahon and Co. Not to pick on HHH, but he's the best example. You can also probrably use a lot of Undertaker's programs following the same patterns. In the end, he'll just come back from the dead and no sell anything you throw at him. It's one of the reasons Brock became disenfrachised with WWE. He was scheduled to do a program with Taker Post WMXX and Brock saw the writing on the wall where Taker just came back as "The Dead Man" and knew he wouldn't be going over and Taker wouldn't be selling for him.
  3. If the show were to have continued or gets resurrected, I was going to integrate a segment of that song in the intro and outro of the show.
  4. Not just booking of wins and losses, but portrayal of the wrestlers is just as important. No one wants to get behind incompetent babyfaces. HHH has killed a ton of potential guys by being booked to look smarter and laying guys out and such, which is why it is so hard to get over when working a program with him. Notice how Batista pretty much never was laid out or out smarted by HHH and how over he is now. It's what kept Austin strong over Vince in their feud. Austin was almost always one step ahead of Vince and while sometime Austin would take a lump or two, no one would ever say Vince out smarted Austin during their feud.
  5. It's TO being TO. It's the Jeff Garcia treatment of McNabb all over again, without calling him gay. Doesn't matter who TO's quarterback is, he'll roll them under a bus at any oppurtunity.
  6. Was the person you were arguing with Vince Russo?

    NBA Week 1

I think tonight will be a test for the new look Cavaliers facing an elite defensive team like the Spurs. With Shaq out for a month or so, the Cavs probrably see this as an oppurtunity to put some distance between themselves and another Eastern conference rival.
  8. This is like comparing liquid shit from solid shit. In the end, it's all still shit. Cena isn't as bad as the people you mentioned, but he still isn't even average. I mean, Trish Stratus does better worked punches than Cena for God's sake. Cena is over enough to be in the ME, however his in ring is not main event level IMO.
  9. When you are in the bind that WWE is in terms of finding people who draw, no, it wasn't a bad business decision to put Cena on top now. He's drawing. Problem is, his gimmick has a shelf life and he is a terrible worker and that is now starting to come back to bite him in the ass. He is being exposed in there versus Angle and HBK. They did the right thing putting the belt on him for business, however, with interest in his character waning by the week, they need to figure something else out. I think HHH is hitting his head against a wall right now because I think he was figuring at angling himself versus Cena for WM.
  10. Lineup for Saturday PG Steve Nash SG LeBron James SF Kevin Garnett PF Mehmet Okur C Emeka Okafor Cch Houston Edit; Changed out Al Harrington for Mehmet Okur since I heard Harrington injured his ankle the other night. Okur has been a killer his first two games
  11. WWE didn't release the rating until today because it was a low number. Simple as that. They know by Wednesday. How come we knew about the Homecoming number so quickly, but not this number? And Halloween is not treated like a holiday. I work at a law firm. Court was still in session for the attorney's who had trial. Mail was still delivered. Just because there are decorations for something doesn't make it a holiday.
  12. Can I just state, AGAIN, that Halloween is not a holiday. Never has been. Probrably never will be.
  13. Perhaps Charlie was smart and saved his money in a business as unstable as wrestling. It's the reason Christian is in no hurry to work. He saved his money for a rainy day.
  14. Believe it or not, I think the rating next week will probrably go up .1 or .2 because of post ppv curiosity. However, it was stated earlier in this thread, no matter how you slice it, since the move to USA, the audience has dropped 27%. That is a problem. They have not sustained an audience since the move. Also, when the 4.6 came out for Homecoming, WWE couldn't get that number out fast enough. Now, according to Meltz, WWE is now trying to delay ratings numbers getting out. Hell of a turnaround in one month.
  15. I'll skip this (like all the other Byte This shows in existence) and just get Bret's DVD in two weeks instead. I'm pretty sure he isn't going to expose something that I won't read in a recap.
  16. Halloween is not a holiday. That is why most parties and celebrations took place over the weekend. Trick or treating was the event of the day for most on Oct 31st.
  17. The Ventura thing about not wanting to endorse the heel is legit. I dont' have a problem with that. However, at No Mercy while Austin did job to HHH, he didn't put him over because the finish was due to Rock's interference and HHH needed elevating at that point. That may have been more a product of booking and such since run ins were a staple by then, but still, the way the No Mercy match was worked did HHH no favors and didn't make HHH look on Austin's level at all. I am not one to defend HHH. Just saying.

    NBA Week 1

Tim Legler was on as a guest on my local sports talk radio and he mentioned something about the Kings that really stands out after the first two games. The Kings are flat out not athletic. Their starting five, which is about as solid a starting five as you'll find, all play below the rim. The most athletic person on their bench is Kevin Martin, who will probrably not see hardly any playing time since Adelman has a harder time than Vince McMahon at elevating and developing new talent. I also think the lack of athletic type can be traced to Geoff Petrie somewhat. He and Adelman do not have the patience to wait for young, fresh legs to develop and would rather have a less athletic, more skilled player. While you definitely need highly skilled players, in this day and age, you also need fresh legs to sustain 48 minutes of game time through 82 regular season games. This lack of athleticism and tendency to stay away from it disturbs me in terms of the Kings future.
  19. Lineup for Friday... PG Gilbert Arenas SG Jason Richardson SF Kevin Garnett PF Tim Duncan C Marcus Camby Cch Blazers
  20. To add to that, I live in the Bay Area and all the Halloween club parties and bashes in Oakland and San Francisco were this weekend as well.
  21. I like it, especially if it brings Haas along. Also, I fully expect RRR/Gayda/Bukkake references throughout the TNA folders and this thread.

    NBA Week 1

I am gonna wait until I see Amare actually playing. While the core players are still there, he still has to adjust to some new guys in the system. Houston is right there, but they need a killer instinct transplant pronto to go from very good to elite.
  23. ...and if you are 18-34 and are trick or treating without a kid, you've got problems that need addressing with a professional.

    NBA Week 1

Yeah, there seems to be a lot more parity this year, but it's early. The Spurs are the favorite OUT OF THE WEST. Those are key words. Indiana, Detroit, and Miami have just as good a shot to beat SA in a seven game series if they make it. The West basically has one very elite team and the rest are a notch or two below them. If Amare were healthy, there'd be two teams vying for Western supremacy. The East have more title contenders this year than the West IMO.
  25. Good point. I forgot that the NBA started on Tuesday. I'm a tool. Well, the Raw excuse is the male demographic of 18-34, the most coveted, were all out trick or treating.
