  1. I'm thinking its a weekly TV fight show, or a 5 year deal with SPIKE, or it's the Monthly Live Fight Card that has already been announced but not announced to a large audience. (That would essentially be the same as the Weekly TV fight show, where they use the undercards as content for each month). And yes, Bonnar vs. Belfort would be amazing.
  2. We've had this discussion before, lol. I have this thing where I can't rank fighters who rely on just one thing as highly as others who are more well rounded. It's the whole "well, if that fails, then what can he do?" thing, as displayed against Couture I and Rampage. Gomi is probably the exception to my overall rule, and even Gomi is more well rounded than Chuck and has more options. I think Shogun could take Babalu in a rematch. Shogun has grown so much since they last fought, and has better sub defense and better wrestling, plus is a lot bigger. It would be close, though.
  3. Ok, I am FREAKING THE FUCK OUT RIGHT NOW! On SPIKETV.com they have "Tune in for the most important announcement in UFC History, Jan 16th" HOLY SHIT. It also says it will "Change the UFC forever" !!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Oh, and Meltzer says that the undercard fights are going to be shown on episodes of Unleashed, which is awesome IMO. One step closer to Danas dream.
  5. http://www.ufc.tv/ is THEE place for Ultimate Fight Night news and resources. A TON of video interviews up, Bonnar brings up a certain name that raised my eyebrows and that would KICK SO MUCH ASS if it happened, given the history behind Bonnars JJ trainer, and very few things gets me more hyped than watching fighters hit the heavybag and mits. The show starts at 10pm.
  6. HW: Fedor Nog Kharitonov Arlovski Cro Cop LHW: Couture Shogun Liddell Babalu Silva MW: Hendo Busta Lindland Franklin Horn WW: BJ GSP Hughes Sherk Sanchez LW: Gomi Sakurai Hansen Kawajiri Edwards As mentioned (debated ) before, I don't necessarily put a premium on Wins and Losses, but rather, the individuals style, skill level, strategy, and compatability to other fighters in the division. Though Liddell beat Couture, I still consider Couture to be a worse match for more guys in the division than Liddell. Just because one guy can get the better of another guy, doesn't mean that he's the better fighter in general. If two fighters fought the same ten guys, and one fighter beat 8 of them and the other fighter only beat 5, yet the guy who beat five beat the guy who beat 8, does that mean he's better? I know some, a lot, would say yes. I disagree. I was about to put Babalu ahead of Shogun and Liddell, but I held back a bit. I need to see more of him in the UFC before I can readily say.
  7. You went too far with the Gilmore Girls line. TOO FAR, DAMMIT.
  8. You SO couldn't. And you can count this post.
  9. ..the things you are picking out are pretty standard. It's standard to have wrestlers say that the company is not liable even when they are at fault? You think a football team is liable when a guy is injured or dies? When it's the death is a result of something they did? I sure fucking hope so
  10. I think Hughes and Ortiz had a grappling match against each other in Abu Dhabi.
  11. You seemed to have missed the point of why I brought up Mike Goldberg. Goldberg is good at what he does because he's good at CALLING A MATCH. He has no trouble treating it like its real, because it IS real. Styles is in trouble because he's CALLING A MATCH, as if its a real match. Thus, Goldberg should have been THE LAST person McMahon would want announcing Raw. Have you ever heard Goldberg announce? There is very little the product itself has to do with the nuances and lil touches Goldberg puts in his commentary.
  12. I got home and the TV was still on. I'm in the kitchen and I hear the words "Mixed Martial Arts" and I go in the living room to see what's up. It's the Crocodile Hunter. Who trains in MMA. That is so fucking awesome. The dude fights Crocodiles for a living, how can you beat him?! (Answer: Knee bar)
  13. This one is the funniest: (b) TALENT shall establish his own method of physical conditioning, shall select time for conditioning, duration of conditioning and form of conditioning. TALENT shall select time for sleep, time for eating, and time for other activities. TALENT shall select his own foods, vitamins and other ingested items, excepting illegal and/or controlled substances and drugs, which are prohibited by COMPANY's Drug Policy. This is the best: TALENT acknowledges that the participation and activities required by TALENT in connection with TALENT's performance in a professional wrestling exhibition may be dangerous and may involve the risk of serious bodily injury. TALENT knowingly and freely assumes full responsibility for all such inherent risks as well as those due to the negligence of COMPANY, other TALENTs or otherwise. From what I understand of the law, this is so fucking illegal.
  14. Hey, Eddie shouldn't have taken all those drugs and it was his responsibility to set up trusts for his family in the event of his death. Sure, the WWE could cover their wrestlers with health insurance and benefit packages and shit like that, but that means they're taking money out of the wrestlers' pockets. Why should the WWE make decisions for their talent, shouldn't the wrestlers decide what's best for them and their family themselves?
  15. I tip my hat to the WWE for the ass-raping they give their wrestlers in this contract. I am amazed they didn't try to get the rights to the wrestlers soul, since they have just about everything else. How this was ever allowed and legally binding given the realities of wrestling for the company is beyond me, but they somehow did it. Chalk that up to no one outside the wrestling business taking wrestling seriously enough to care. I also like how they can only terminate a contract after they come to a mutual agreement with the wrestlers. Makes filing a lawsuit kinda hard, "Well, you agreed to be let go".
  16. Watching the Season 5 finale again, and goddamn does it kick ass. The scene with Rory and her Grandfather, with Herrmann doing some AWESOME emoting and I love how he was the one who changed his mind both times (with Rory staying with them, with Rory going back to Yale in S6). Lorelai proposing to Luke I was a lil mixed on, but now it makes perfect sense. At the time, _everyone_ was against her, she couldn't rely on Rory, or her Grandparents, those closest to her turned on her - except Luke. Luke has always been there for Lorelai and at the time he was the only one agreeing with her on the Rory situation.
  17. Goldberg is a better announcer, period. The dude is a professional, it's not like he'd Coach-it and not try to learn a thing about the product. The guy can call moves, pimp the product, convey emotion, and do a hard sell. Joey Styles can just do one of those things.
  18. Goldberg would smoke Styles.
  19. Poster UP!
  20. How did they treat her like shit, though? They fired her because they didn't need her any more. I think wrestlers deserve a lot of the blame for their contract situations, simply because the option to Unionize is there, but won't happen because of individual interests blocking it.
  21. Well, that sort of thing requires effort. Put your noggins together, I'm sure you can find new things to talk about, new spins on old topics, various controversial statements that would get peoples blood boiling again. It would be a strategic solution to the problem, there would be a plan and that plan would take some time to be formulated and implemented. I would suggest a brainstorming session from you mods in your mod folder and come up with, I dunno, 10 topics per month (one every 3 day), that you will put on the board that will get people thinking about bigger issues, or perhaps what look to be minor issues but have a greater importance than one would think. I'll throw out this: People like to share their preferences (favourite wrestler right now), you take that fact and you try to spin it in a way that gets people to think, discuss, and debate. Maybe recruit a few members from the forum to agree to participate in the discussion to get things going, maybe artificially create a debate within a thread and let the forum members take things from there.
  22. The WWE Folder isn't bad, it's just uninspired. I don't think many people care enough about the WWE to put the effort in. And those that do care enough to put effort in their posts have really worthless opinions. It's like, why would I put any stock into someones opinion after they watched New Years Revolution when their opinion before the show was "Hey, I should buy this!" It's bad judgment before, so why would after be any different? Plus, we've kinda discussed every subject under the sun about the WWE for the past 5 years, and since they are keen on reliving the mistakes they've made in the past 5 years, there isn't anything new to say. The best solution would be an initiative to create new discussion, IMO. But people who say stuff like this... ...should be gone. Ditto people who say "I'd love to see THIS happen just to see all the smarks get in an uproar".
  23. Well, Steph is an employee of the WWE in her position of Director of Creative, and only is an IC when she's on screen (and therefore gets paid seperately).
  24. Dawn Marie is self-employed, her pregnancy would have prevented her from performing her contractually obligated duties to the WWE. If you hire a plumber for a series of jobs and she gets knocked up and can't work on your house anymore, why should you still pay her everything that was originally stated? Of course, I think the whole Independent Contractor thing with the WWE is a load of hogwash and warrants investigation by government because wrestlers clearly are, for all intents and purposes, employees of the E yet the WWE saves millions by not classifying them as such and can get away with bullshit firings. I think if this thing goes to court, the jury would see it the same way, which might open up a can of worms for the WWE.
  25. Eko is so badass. I might have to label him KOTI and take the crown off Jack cause Jack didn't slit two guys' throats at the same time or stare down the Black Death Cloud. Great stuff with the flashbacks and the plane.
