  1. The question I have is this: Where do they go with this? Do they go right into a Jericho/Orton feud? I don't really think I would. It's too hyped at this point to waste on some lame PPV like Armageddon (perhaps a returning Flair could face Orton on that show, or just do a tag match). I would play it like this. Don't give it away right now, but also don't make it look like Orton is flat out avoiding Jericho. Being afraid of Jericho doesn't make any sense with Orton's current character...I mean why fear Jericho when Orton has taken out Michaels, Van Dam, etc.? Do a simple angle where Orton tells Jericho that if he wants a title shot he has to get in line, that he's been away for 2 years. Even have Jericho agree with him on that point, and then spend the next few months building it. Then we get to the Rumble and either Jericho can win it or Orton can do something to screw him out of it. Either way it ends up with Jericho vs. Orton at WM. If only they can keep HHH and HBK away from all this.
  2. Okay I have to admit that Vince is pretty cool if he paid off Flair's IRS debt. I wonder what they are going to do with Flair exactly? We've heard about some plan to push him and have it culminate at WM next year. I hope it's not just something where he comes back and gets jobbed to Orton as just another notch in the Legend Killer's belt.
  3. Here are the Thanksgiving week picks: GB @ DET: What's this? An actually interesting Lions game on Thanksgiving? Are they losing? Of course they are! Packers by 7. NYJ @ DAL: The Jets might actually make this fairly interesting, but no way are they winning in Dallas. Cowboys by 10. IND @ ATL: The Colts are supremely struggling at this point, so I don't expect a blowout here. Colts by 6. NO @ CAR: Both of these teams are reeling right now, the Saints are baffling. I think it continues here, so Carolina by 3. TEN @ CIN: Don't ask me why but I can't believe the Bengals are this bad. I'll take them to win at home here by 4. MIN @ NYG: Can't see the Giants losing this one at home, the Vikings just aren't that good. NYG by 9. SEA @ STL: The Seahawks look great one week, then look like crap the next. This IS the Rams we're talking about though. Seattle by 10. WAS @ TB: The Redskins seem to play most people tough but can't win. It will continue here. Tampa by 1, 21-20. OAK @ KC: Croyle doesn't really rock my world, but surely he can win his first game against the Raiders. KC by 5. BUF @ JAC: The Bills flirted with decency for a few weeks but they might be toast after that Pats beatdown. Jags by 12. HOU @ CLE: The Browns are a good story this year and I think they can keep it going. They'll win another wild 31-28 type shootout. SF @ ARI: The Niners may well be the worst team in the league. Arizona by 10. BAL @ SD: The Ravens are weaker than the Chargers this year and it's in SD, thus Chargers by 7. DEN @ CHI: For some reason I think we'll get good Rex starting here and the Bears will win it by 3. PHI @ NE: You want a beatdown? Here it is! Pats by however much they feel like. MIA @ PIT: THIS is a MNF game? Steelers keep the Dolphins winless but it'll be close. Pittsburgh by 3.
  4. It's quite simple really. The current crop of wrestlers have been overly scripted to the point of not being able to put across their own thoughts. One thing Jericho forgot to mention during his Orton bashing: He's here to save us from Orton's matches that consist of 80% headlocks.
  5. Jericho looked like an aging rock star that cut his hair as he got to be middle aged. Someone already mentioned Bon Jovi, that's kind of the vibe I got. If the crowd died a bit it's because this thing was way too played out. I can accept building something up, but even tonight they basically did a blatant lie about the time "SaveUs222" would be revealed. Once 9:45 came and went I started losing my interest as well. And truth be told, Jericho at times went into Cena territory with the over the top listing of things and delivery. However, if this leads to Jericho beating Orton for the belt then I'm all for it. They can't be retarded enough to bring back Jericho and then simply job him to fucking ORTON in his first feud back. In the end in terms of entertainment value this wasn't as good as his 1999 debut, but in terms of actual storyline direction and meaning it was easily better.
  6. I will definitely say all of those mentioned but how about Heathers? HBO used to show the hell out of that movie. Or here's one nearly forgotten: Three O'Clock High. I used to dig that movie.
  7. 1994 was on last year as well I think. I know I saw that one recently on 24/7, but can't recall exactly when. I still would like to see Series 1988.
  8. On the PPV last night I figured the time when they showed the countdown and it came out to 9:45 tonight. It will probably be the segment about midway through the show.
  9. I fail to see why putting the Pats on every Sunday night is a good idea for NBC. Most likely it will be a total squash so the ratings will probably be worse than if they showed a good game.
  10. Get this, there was some BCS expert guy on First Take this morning saying Arizona St. should pass WVU if they beat USC. I mean WTF? How is beating USC this year so much better of a win than WVU beating UConn the same week?
  11. I doubt WVU loses at home to either UConn or Pitt. I do agree that the nation needs an actually entertaining title game and something like WVU vs. Missouri would rock. White and Slaton vs. Chase Daniel and Co.? Pyrotechnics galore. Unless WVU screws up on a massive level (I'm talking 6 turnovers like vs. USF) they should stomp both of these teams. There's a part of me that is bittersweet about WVU possibly going to the national title game with 1 loss.
  12. Marquette might be good for something after all...and that would be beating Duke so that the hype machine doesn't get too out of control for the Devils. I am kinda interested in the Great Alaskan Shootout on Thurs. since WKU is playing Gonzaga. The current mid major darlings vs. the old school mid major darlings. Oh and the Vegas tourney final should rock pretty hard unless BYU or ODU get some kind of delusions and beat UNC or U of L. U of L has had pretty decent luck vs. the Tarheels over the years (aside from the 1997 Elite 8), so that game would be interesting.
  13. I keep waiting and waiting for some team that the Pats are blowing out to just get pissed off and send everyone at Brady to goon him. I bet the Steelers will think of it, do the old Carson Palmer number on him. It'll be hilarious to hear TV analysts hyping that Steelers/Pats game as though the Steelers have a chance. The same team that lost to the JETS today. Right now Green Bay looks like the 2nd best team in the league to me. I say that because Dallas has looked shaky in a few games this year (the Bills game, today as well). Hell Dallas had to have a miracle rally to beat the Bills in Buffalo....the team NE stomped by 46 tonight. As far as the Colts go, I think that epic vs. the Patriots simply took their manhood. They just look like a shot team out there.
  14. I enjoyed most of the show aside from the tedious crap like Khali/Hornswoggle, although I do now wonder if we're in for a Finlay face turn. Main event was pretty good though in some ways it seemed kinda halfhearted as though both guys knew the Edge run in was coming and had to do something to occupy time. The last 5 minutes of it were really killer stuff though. As far as the WWE title match....I'm at a loss for words on that one. I can't believe HBK actually did a crippler crossface. Can't decide if that was kinda funny or just in extremely poor taste. To be honest this match almost seemed to be self parody, which is getting to be more and more common with Michaels matches (the epitome of course being the Hogan SS 2005 match). I'm ready for this feud to be over, we know HBK isn't getting the belt so to hell with it. Just move on and have HHH end the farce already. It disturbs me greatly to hear Ross say stuff like "Orton may be WWE champion for years to come!" since I am worried they are dumb enough to actually DO that. At this point with Shawn it's either shit or get off the pot. Either put the belt on him for a month or so or quit main eventing him.
  15. Ankle Lock has lost its luster with Angle applying it constantly and guys reverse it easily or make the ropes. Nash had some problems getting over as WWF champ. First off, they all but killed his run out of the gate at the 1995 Rumble when he didn't even really beat Bret. If they were REALLY serious about him as champ he would have gone over Bret in some form, even with some Owen run in or whatever. Second, the WM Michaels feud was badly thought out in that they had a 7 ft., 300 lb. face going against a small heel....it makes no sense. Crowds tend to cheer the smaller man in that situation, and they did that with Shawn there. So after that Vince went with a bunch of huge heels as challengers and that in my view is what wrecked Diesel's title run. Feuding with Sid and Mabel was a terrible idea and produced wretched matches. Aside from HBK at WM they didn't put Nash over anybody with credibility in his whole run. He never beat Bret, never beat UT, not even Bulldog. Add in the fact that Nash was forced into a smiling face role that he really wasn't suited for (and he ranted about this after losing the belt) and he simply didn't get over as champion.
  16. I really, really don't want to see Vince screw Michaels tonight because I am beyond bored with Vince vs. HBK and that's what it would lead to. The problem with this match is where do you go after it? If Orton retains then the Michaels feud is blown off. Then I fail to see how they can hold off on HHH vs. Orton. They almost would need Michaels to win just to give him some credibility since he seemingly loses all the time in title matches. Either put the belt on him or get him out of the main event. I might consider putting the belt on Michaels tonight, then continue the Orton feud. Thus someone in the survivor match needs to eliminate HHH to start a placeholder feud. I'll say Kennedy survives.
  17. So if Booker wasn't fired by WWE what exactly do you call it? He just asked for his release because he was at the point where he was getting suspended constantly for failed tests? Or was his contract simply up and he didn't sign? Either way the message was simple from WWE: Get the fuck out. I don't think TNA should let Angle near those hearings...if Congress knew what they were doing they could ask all sorts of questions about what pills, drugs, roids, etc. that Angle has been on. Or why WWE released him.
  18. Did Backlund go against the booking there and refuse to say I Quit? I'm not sure if Bret reversed it or if he just got Backlund in his own move. By March 1995 that whole feud had lost its steam completely. I always thought Diesel made Bret look like a jobber in some ways, since he beat Backlund in 8 seconds while Bret went about 35 mins. with the old guy and jobbed pretty hard.
  19. I thought Cyber Sunday was getting axed from the PPV lineup and would be a TV special? They still have way too many PPVs. Get rid of One Night Stand at this point since it has no purpose, either that or get rid of Vengeance. Narrow it down to 1 a month.
  20. I actually think TNA will come off way worse at this thing than WWE. WWE can at least point to their bogus Wellness Program and to a few guys who have been suspended or released. TNA doesn't even have a real program in place, so what exactly are they going to say at this hearing? Especially considering they rushed to hire Angle and Booker right after both were fired by WWE for drug related violations.
  21. I can't imagine Texas making the Big 12 title game. They have been so far off the radar this year that it's a "WTF?" situation. I haven't heard this all that much but does anyone else think it's time to just get rid of these conf. title games? When has one ever been good for anything? It seems like every year some highly ranked team ends up wrecking their season playing in this pointless crap, or even worse a team that gets totally exposed ends up playing for a national title anyway. Of course there's way too much money in these conf. title games to get rid of them, but they seem to cause more problems than they solve.
  22. I can see those skits now with Horowitz trying to explain this Bonds controversy and Hakushi points out that Sadaharu Oh still holds the actual home run world record.
  23. How the hell could Edge just get a title shot immediately after both men fought in a HIAC? I mean he doesn't have a MITB at this point and there's no way he could just waltz in and be granted a title shot. Not even Vince at his most evil would book shit like that.
  24. At least we don't have to worry about a rematch of LSU vs. OU from 2003 though. I was in horror at thinking about that possibility. I'm starting to get a vibe that WVU is going to sneak into the title game. They will be #4 and provided they take care of UConn next week (which they should at home) move up to #3 after Missouri/Kansas. At that point WVU can beat down Pitt and watch the SEC and Big 12 title games to see if one of the two teams goes down. USF 55, U of L 17. Steve Kragthorpe actually managed to top the 2005 disaster in Tampa. Can we please fire this shithead already?
  25. Can anyone explain how the hell Tennessee is 8-3 and on track to win the SEC East? It seems like I've seen them each time they've sucked hard this year (Cal, Bama, Florida) and also games like the SC game or Vandy when they barely stagger to a win. UK seriously has to beat the Vols next week for a variety of reasons: The longest win streak aspect, to keep Tennessee from getting stomped to fatal hell by LSU, and also to give us a potentially good SEC title game with LSU vs. Georgia.
