Maybe it's because I don't watch the intermission banter or something, I don't know. That's the time for channel flipping. If I'm watching the game, I don't need to be walked through what I just watched.
McGuire was a very good third man during the playoffs when they stuck him between the glass, or whatever they were calling it. Just having him drop tidbits of strategy, what the benches were planning, or injuries opened up a new way of looking at the game. I think it showed people just how fast the game is, what the players do on the bench and how coaches approach the game. I hope NBC/OLN bring that feature back this season. I'd say that I'd like to see other channels adopt it, but you need a somewhat knowledgable hockey mind back there. The Canadian networks would probably be able to pull it off, but NESN would use Tina Cervasio or something in the "sideline reporter" angle, which sucks.
