http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a...n_damaged_woman Judge: Keep Schiavo Feeding Tube in Place 2 minutes ago U.S. National - AP By MITCH STACY, Associated Press Writer PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - A state judge on Friday temporarily blocked the removal of the feeding tube for severely brain-damaged Terri Schiavo as legal wrangling continued over efforts by congressional Republicans to keep her alive. Pinellas Circuit Court Judge David Demers ordered that the feeding tube remain in place past a 1 p.m. EST deadline while fellow Judge George Greer, who is presiding over the Schiavo case, deals with conflicting legal issues. The Senate Health Committee has requested that Terri Schiavo and her husband, Michael, appear at an official committee hearing on March 28. The Pinellas Park hospice where Schiavo lives received a subpoena late Friday morning, spokeswoman Louise Cleary said. Officials there did not say who was subpoenaed or disclose their next steps. "At this time, we are monitoring developments and consulting with legal and ethical advisers to determine what to do," she said. Michael Schiavo has waged a yearslong court battle with his parents-in-law, contending his 41-year-old wife, who has been in a persistent vegetative state since 1990, would not want to live that way. Courts have cleared the way for him to remove her feeding tube as early as 1 p.m. Friday. The tube has been removed twice in the past and then reinserted as the battle continued. "It is a contempt of Congress to prevent or discourage someone from following the subpoena that's been issued," David Gibbs, the attorney for her parents, said. "What the U.S. Congress is saying is, `We want to see Terri Schiavo.'" "The family is prayerfully excited about their daughter going before the United States Congress for the whole world to see how alive she is." He said that despite her brain damage, she would be able to travel. A statement from the office of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., on Friday said the purpose of the hearing was to review health care policies and practices relevant to the care of non-ambulatory people. Frist's statement noted that it is a federal crime to harm or obstruct a person called to testify before Congress. Howard Simon, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union (news - web sites)'s Florida office, said his group's attorneys were working with Michael Schiavo's attorneys to determine if the subpoenas would block the scheduled removal of the tube. "This is clearly an effort to circumvent a lawful court order by a state judge," Simon said. "I am not sure how a subpoena, which is ordinarily done to produce records or somebody to testify, can essentially have the effect of an injunction overriding the orders of a court

Farms in foreign lands feed people to, however when Big corporate farms buy up foreign land and plant their seeds, they naturally spread onto the local farmers land, and then take those local farmers to court since the GM seeds overpower their own crop, then are promptly sued, shut down and broke, it certainly hurts the local economies that were growing food just fine in the first place. GM technology has good uses and bad uses, it is something we could turn to if need be one day, but as of now it seems GM is more about profit and taking over more land then "feeding people" Of course you can't say that is causing disease in people yet because studies are too new/recent/current, but that doesn't mean you go and legalize and regulate it based on there not being enough time for ample research. Just like the hormones/steroids/chemicals being pumped into cows to make them produce more milk, I guess you have no problem drinking those chemicals and making them a part of your body's makeup? I won't lie and say I NEVER drink Milk, but I try to keep the amount very low.

"don't put toxins and pollutants in the water, or it might have harmful effects to our drinking water" SURELY, a DOGMA if I've ever seen one........ You WILL spend untold millions of public funds for a recycling program with no real benefit to anybody involved. You WILL have DDT banned, so fuck all of you who have a problem with malaria. You WILL have to remove freon from coolers because we THINK it MIGHT cause a problem. You WILL spend untold millions in increased costs because we THINK further safety with no measurable benefit is worth the risk --- and if you disagree, then FUCK you! You WILL spend more on gas than is necessary because we think drilling for oil might well destroy the Earth. You WILL starve because we think genetically engineered food is horrible. You WILL have your land stolen from you because some obscure breed of rat might be living on your property. No, we won't recompensate you one fucking red dime for it, either. Remember when toilets actually flushed with enough force to actually deal with your shit? FUCK THAT! We're going to give you toilets that can barely handle urine, much less feces. Yes, a dogma with no scientific or rational justification for it. -=Mike What does my statement have anything do do with that little stupid rant you just went on. Oh and the world starving without GM foods, is certainly a hilarious bunch of bullshit you seem to want to spout off quite often without anything to back it up with.

Well it seems more logical then your "pilliage and plunder the earth, makes no difference" plan. It would have been different if I would have said, "I am going to post articles that PROVE Mercury levels are dangerously high" I didn't say that. All I meant to do was to show you that this was an active issue before Bush came into office. Do you get it yet?

Ashley Laurence is a hottie....she still is, as evidenced by photos of her at recent horror conventions.

About time..... -
yeah I thought Bloodline was in theaters. I own the original on DVD uncut, and it came with Hellraiser II as a bonus disk. I enjoyed part III, even though it definately felt like a different franchise starting at the point.

http://ojas.okstate.edu/OJAS/03/daniels.htm Next. AND Yup, pretty damning stuff there. Next? Let me guess, you thought I wouldn't read this, right? No actual notes. Just rampant speculation. And I already showed the flaws in 3 of the 4 studies you posted. Yes, they had MASSIVE advances in mercury knowledge over the last few years. Of course. Suuure. Don't worry, though --- like the rest of environmentalism's crises, this will likely end up being the usual BS. Considering how utterly filthy Earth Day celebrations tend to be, the believers don't practice their faith well. No, it's utter BS. Complete and utter BS. And for people trying to "clean up the mess", they trash their get-togethers in a way that makes a Phish concert look clean. No, they're trying to force their dogma on people in similar ways to the Puritans. -=Mike Umm, you didn't find any "flaws" in the articles actually. You said the issues were not being discussed before Bush came into office, I claimed differently, and posted articles that pre-date the Bush administration. What the articles, say, prove, or don't prove is besides the point, the point is that studies and issues were being raised. Also I believe at least two of those articles also say that their information is now outdated anyway, and unless you want to assume that the situation has miracurously got better in the last 3-4 years, I think it is a pretty safe bet to say the opposite is true.

http://ojas.okstate.edu/OJAS/03/daniels.htm http://epw.senate.gov/105th/lev_10-1.htm http://www.mass.gov/dep/files/mercury/hgexsum.htm http://www.epa.gov/region01/soe/mercury.html These are four reports I just found in the span of two minutes reporting on mercury levels before 2000. If you are arguing that the TV didn't report on it "before Bush took office" then that is a different debate, but to act like people weren't stressing the issue before 2000, is complete bullshit.
-
If this wasn't a problem back in 1999 --- which it wasn't, considering that these stories didn't EXIST back then --- it's illogical that the IDENTICAL levels of mercury would be causing problems now. Just because we don't know about a problem doesn't mean that the problem does not exist. No, it shows that environmentalism is not a science, but a religious cult. They praised Clinton's environmental policies, but when Bush KEPT them, he was trying to poison the water. -=Mike I don't get the point that you are trying to make, I think we all can agree that there are far to many whacko-enviornmentalist-hippie folks, but are you telling me you can't honestly differentiate those people from commond day folks that are genuinely concerned about the conditions of the local ecosystems? Who "PRAISED" Clinton's enviornmental policies? I am sure it wouldn't take much digging at all to find many criticisms of Bill Clinton's enviornmental record. Just because someone feels Bush's policies and attitudes are worse, doesn't mean they were in love with Clinton's policies.
-
Who says it wasn't a problem during the 1990's? I mean it's not like the media regularly runs stories about the enviornment anyways, now or back then, it is an issue that is somewhat boring to people, thus it goes uncovered or buried on page 19 of the current events section of the paper. What is the point of invoking Clinton's name into this anyway?

Umm....Are we talking recently or just of all-time? I mean Nightmare on Elm Street scared me when I first saw it.

Until last night, I thought Inferno was the latest Hellraiser film, but apparently there is part six, seven, and eight already made.....Anyone seen any of these. Hellseeker and Deader are rated HORRIBLY on imdb, but Hellworld seems like it might be worth seeing..... Also CLive Barker issued a statement awhile ago wanting to make a final Hellraiser film to give Pinhead the proper sendoff, as he has hated every sequel after Part 2, besides Hellseeker.

I wish it was me.......... Was it just me or was Veronica wearing a "Future MILF" shirt on the episode?

Ever hear of the phrase "Think Globally, Act Locally" ? Kahran, made a good point when he said the "Global Warming" debate overshadows and basically takes away from issues effecting everyone's local communities. The concept of "dumping toxins, waste, pollutants into water, makes the water poisonous", cannot be much easier to understand. Mercury levels rising so high to where now we are recommened not to eat fish more then 1-2 times a week, is not hard to comprehend. If these groups of people concentrated more on what is going on in their local community and try to help clean things up, it would probably be much more of a constructive and collective effort in the name of the enviornment.

Question: Are they going to be wrestling non-WWE style in a smaller ring, or is it just going to be a WWE show with ECW banners and a bunch of different guys wrestling? I know this was probably asked before, but I figured maybe more information has come out by now. Also, when will promotion for this show begin? I know right now it would not be wise to advertise an "ECW" show, while promoting WM, but June isn't THAT far away.

I wonder why all the girls are always on Tonya about being a "whore" or "slut" when challenge queen Veronica has been know to sleep around with virtually the entire casts of males yet goes un-criticized. Julie was getting a little obnoxious though comparing John's sacrifice with religious symbolism. Next episode looks to be potentially the best of the entire season.

Ok, yeah I just beat the game, and the final mission was pretty damn cool. The ending movie was a little dissapointing though. Beating the game put me at 61.7% completion.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was
NoCalMike replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
I think the better question is, If Luke DIDN'T know who Anakin was, would he have destroyed him at the Emporer's command, and in turn, become the new Sith apprentice? -
Well kudos to me for holding off on buying the DVDs.....

Jodie Sweeten to me has a look to her that reminds me of the good looking girls in highschool that, upon enterting the real world, find out that they are actually merely average looking. Not that I don't think she is good looking, I do, but I am not "gaga" over her or anything. Obviously she felt deficient in one way since she got breast implants. Weird to think that she got implants since she wants to be a teacher, and not look for work in hollywood. Maybe she is looking to become the next teacher to sleep with her students, so she wants to look her best.

I am on the riot mission, where you have to go with Caesar and recruit two guys from your hood, and go to stop the riots, or at least contain them. I got to the part where Caesar says he wants to pop the question to CJ's sister, but then Casesar ran into the fence and just stayed there, and I couldn't get him to follow me, and whenever I just went, it would say I left him behind and that I had to go back and get him, however he wouldn't move. Maybe it was because when I did this mission I was half alseep. I am going to try it again tonight.

She definately turned out the prettiest of the Tanner children. The Olsen twins look like troll dolls, and DJ looks like she has had mucho plastico applied to her face.
