Well, he actually had a good rookie season and a better second year, but then Adam Archuleta was signed as a Free Agent to play Strong Safety, and I wouldn't say it was soley because Archuleta sucked or anything and it probably equally had to do with the defensive coaches not properly evaluating his skill-set, but lets just say he was not the right type of Strong Safety for the scheme that Greg Williams uses. In 2006, Taylor's stats were down because he was used a lot more in run support, when ideally a Free Safety should be more of a ball-hawking position. Then we drafted Laron Landry, which was a perfect compliment to Sean Taylor. It allowed Taylor to play the position of Free Safety as it is intended to be played.

It's true Sean Taylor was one of the hardest hitters, but the guy really got short-changed as far as his coverage ability went. The way he could close ground and make plays on the opposite side of the field he lined up on. I just think that because so many fans are wrapped up in who can hit the hardest, and that is what usually makes the highlights on Sportscenter it caused a player like Sean Taylor to be mentioned in the same breath as a player like Roy Williams. I mean no disrespect to Roy, he is one of the hardest hitters in the game and technically plays a different position(Strong Safety), but Sean Taylor's game was so much more complete and he was really what allowed the rest of Washington's defense to play the aggressive style they did, because they could count on Sean Taylor back there taking care of that section of the field by himself. Look at the 2005 playoff game against Tampa and contrast what the Bucs offense did before and after Sean Taylor was ejected from the game. The contrast was amazing. That was his second year in the league.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. And the two burgulars wre breaking into an unoccupied neighbors house, which presented no direct threat to himself. Yet he is a "hero" for killing them, but Taylor is somehow a common thug because he confronted a guy who stole his ATVs with a gun....seriously WTF!?! I am really not in the mood to get into this type of discussion right now, but yeah, thanks for bringing up that point Ripper.

This is horrible news. I know it seems trivial at this point but Sean Taylor was on his way to having his best season yet, he was the leading vote getter for NFC at Free Safety, leading the NFL in INTs, and on his way to possibly winning Defensive Player of the year. Just to give an idea of his impact on the defense. Up until he got injured, the defense had only given up 6 plays of over 30 yards, and just in the two games he has been out the defense has given up 5 TDs over 30 yards. More importantly, the man was turning his life around. His troubles in the past are no secret, but every report in the last year and a half indicates that he was maturing into a man and this year he was voted onto the team's leadership council which means he was highly respected in his teammate's eyes. Sadly, he leaves behind a very young daughter and a heartbroken family. I have mixed feelings about wearing his jersey on Sunday, I just don't want it to come off looking corny or contrived.

So, before I never thought to ask because I always bought the new version of Madden when it was released. However, this year for the PS3, I just bought Madden 07 for $10, and am going to hold off until the '09 version to update. I am hooking up my ethernet cable when I get home to get started on the PS3 network, but I have to ask, how long to old versions of Madden stay available to play online, and is there usually still a large amount of people playing older versions of the game, even once the new version is released?

Ok, I will do that when I get home. Thanks.

http://miamiherald.typepad.com/umia...taylor-sho.html Sean Taylor shooting (updated) Another sad day in University of Miami football history. As many of you already know, former Hurricane and current Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was shot at his Palmetto Bay home early this morning by an intruder at around 2 a.m. and is currently in critical condition at Ryder Trauma Center in Jackson Memorial Hospital. The Herald is working the story hard. Since I have covered Taylor since his playing days at Gulliver Prep in Coral Gables, I've been trying to find out as much information as I can through my high school connections. Here's what I've found out. According to family and friends, Taylor was at home with his girlfriend and their young daughter when he heard a noise in the back of his house. He went to investigate and was supposedly shot in the groin, in an area where a lot of arteries are. The gunshot by the alleged robber has caused him to lose a lot of blood. "From what I've heard from his family and I'm in constant contact with them from the hospital, he was shot in area where it is very difficult to operate," a Gulliver assistant football coach told me. "They think he's going to make it, but there's a fear his career is over. It's such a sad day around here. We're waiting by the phone to hear what's going on." UPDATE (1:15 p.m.): That's what I got at 12:30 this afternoon. This was the latest update from the same assistant. "He's had surgery and he's out of it now. I'm not sure if he's going to have other procedure. But from what I hear he may not be able to play again. They think his career is over. He lost too much blood and apparently it affected his brain some. It just doesn't sound good and its going to be a long road back to recovery."

I am enjoying it a bunch. I have Madden 07 which I bought used for $12.00, Marvel Alliance which I bought used for $20, and Assassins Creed. Uncharted is on my radar for Christmas. I know my parents are probably getting Guitar Hero 3 w/wireless Guitar as a family gift. Also, Spiderman 3 blu-ray looked excellent as do my standard DVDs. Good purchase, definately.

Ok, so I beat the game last night. I think I was just asking for all the help before because my timing sucked on using the buttons for the counter attacks, because I never really needed to use it until very late in the game, up until then, it was mostly one-on-one which eliminates the need to counter-attack. Once I got my timing down, it became rather easy to take out groups of villians. So I have a question about the stuff after the credits....
-
Ok well the latest reports say police are not looking for an intruder.....umm if this is accurate that adds a new twist to the story.....I hope this isn't a case of domestic dispute gone wrong.....

Are you speaking of the ones that want to bring up incidents from his past, as if that has any relevence to the current state of affairs? Then yes, CLASSLESS.

According to the reports here out of D.C., massive blood loss is the main concern. Nobody here is worried about whether he plays again. This is a true life-threatening situation. All prayers, please. Yeah. Just when I was thinking yesterday that 5-6 was the real shits, something like this happens that puts the game of football into perspective. This is horrible. Thoughts are with the Taylor family right now.

A lot of people get suckered on Black Friday because they don't read the fine print in the ads or they are just stupid. Most ads clearly state that there is a limited number of quanity on the "door buster" or really really good sale items, but fools will still lineup all night long when there is already over 100 people ahead of them, and then still expect they will land one of the 10 of said items in stock. DVDs for $3 is a nice deal but it isn't worth standing in line all night long when most of the DVDs for $3 or normally in the $5-6 bargain bin on an everyday basis anyway. Unless I know for a fact that I am getting that $199 laptop or that $750 flat panel, it isn't worth the waste of time. And yes, this is coming from a guy who camped out all night for a PS2 at launch, but that was because at the time, if you didn't get it at launch, you had to wait a few months, or pay 200% more. Also, I worked for the franchise I camped out at so I knew how many were in stock and that I was guaranteed one.

Well the Redskins find a way to snatch defeat from victory's hands again. Putting themselves in a 16-0 hole via 4 turnovers was awful, but seeing them march right down the field effortlessly for a would-be game winning score only to not convert in the redzone AGAIN is depressing. I guess the silver-lining in all of this is the fact that Campbell keeps getting better every week, and at this stage of his career I expect him to make some bad throws, especially against not just a good defense but also a smart veteren defense in Tampa, . As much as it hurts to watch this team lose close games NOW, I think this team shows signs that in the next couple of years they will become a contender. They are starting to click on offense, but the stupid mistakes are holding them back.

So who can help me out here.....I think I am close to the end and this is where I am stuck...

The commercials and reviews have me interested. I heard it can be difficult at times, but then again that is a good thing. I think I might ask for it for Christmas, because I really can't go out and spend $60 on a game at the moment.

Well unless Detroit does something fast to get back into this game, I think my previous quote has summed the game up nicely...

Question for you guys. Do most of you just use three fingers for the button-mashing and move them back and forth more, or do you use four fingers which requires less movement. My friend uses three and seems to be pretty well, but I have seen people using four and doing equally as well. My friend says he cannot get enough pressure from his pinky finger and it causes him to miss notes. P.S. At Frys yesterday I saw some chick tearing it up on expert level doing the dragonforce song. It almost made me not even want the game anymore, thinking I would have to be THAT FUCKING GOOD at the game to beat it on expert...I mean WOW.
-
I wouldn't be worried. Detroit has wilted against good defenses. Remember this game... Redskins 34 Detroit 3? Keep in mind, that was the "mighty" offense of the Washington Redskins. The Lions have had a favorable schedule up to this point, it gets more difficult. They will probably be an 8-8 or 9-7 team. All the factors you stated might keep it close for a a quarter or two, but I think Green Bay will find enough to work with to run away with the game after halftime.

With Sean Taylor out with an injury at least through this game with Tampa Bay, a WR like Joey Galloway scares me a lot. He is not as good as Terrell Owens, but he has the size and speed to break a Cover 2 defense. The Redskins Defense/secondary is different without Sean Taylor in the lineup. For evidence look at the 2005 playoff game against in Tampa Bay. The Bucs did nothing on offense, and then Taylor gets ejected and all of the sudden Galloway is getting open deep. Even though this strategy will likely be used by Gruden this week, I don't feel the Bucs have as many weapons as a team like Dallas did in order to spread the ball and take the multiple coverage away from TO. I think the Redskins Defense will find a way to cover Galloway. Also if the Skins coaching staff let Campbell throw the ball around like they did last week and show that kind of confidence in him for the rest of the season.(Added with some of our O-line starters coming back, Sean Taylor back in another week, and Santana Moss getting healthier) I think our offense can finally live up to the potential we as fans thought it had when we drafted Campbell. Redskins 28 Bucs 17

Rashad Evans versus Michael Bisping to headline UFC 78
NoCalMike replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
While the show wasn't awful, I am glad that the local Hooters is always an option to see the show for free(well for the price of a soda). This show had it's moments, but overall I wouldn't have been happy paying $40 for it. So, while I am not a big fan of Jardine or anything. I wonder if his win over Liddel continues to be ignored, and Evans goes straight to a title shot, or if they at least give Jardine a shot against Evans for the #1 contendership. -
If Jason Campbell continues to progress and the offense overall plays this way the rest of the way out, I think the last wildcard is do-able. The hardest games left are on the road in NY, which is probably a loss because they never play well there, and the final game against Dallas, although if the have homefield wrapped up, they may be resting players.

Well the Redskins had their oppurtunities today. Two big passes got away from Campbell, one to a streaking Cooley who had the inside route on whoever was covering him(not sure but it was probably Roy Williams) that would have either resulted in a 1st & Goal or a TD, and then on the Redskins final realistic drive, Moss got open and Campbell aired it out too much. The Redskins Defense did pretty good in every area except covering Terrell Owens. Of course they dropped a couple INTs. More missed oppurtunities. It was basically the Romo/Owens show out there. Sean Taylor sure picked a horrible time to go and hurt his ankle. He will be back for the next game between these two but by that time either the Cowboys might be resting starters anyway, or the Redskins might not even be in the wildcard hunt.......UGH. Overall, the loss sucks of course, but Jason Campbell is getting better every week and I feel the team put up a good performance on the road against the best team in the NFC. The Redskins just aren't there yet, but they are showing signs of a team that will keep getting better.
