It's an interesting fight but after seeing The Gonz get rolled by Randy and people (hopefully not) recalling Werdum's last fight I can see why there isn't a lot of buzz surrounding it. In an unrelated note feelers have been sent to AKA in regards to Jon Fitch taking on Gono at UFC 82 in Columbus which will have the main event of Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson but AKA has reportedly been pressing for a Karo fight. -
Lesnar was supposed to fight.

Word's coming out that Fedor will fight Hong Man Choi on NYE. Alright Fedor, you know I love you and all but you're pissin' me the fuck off. In the past two years you've fought Mark Coleman, Mark Hunt and a blown-up Matt Lindland. Step your game up or step off.

It was never marketed as a #1 Contenders fight, just that the winner moves a step closer. I think Rashad gets one more big fight against somebody in 2008 like Shogun, Lyoto or the Tito rematch and then we'll see him challenging. And a big HOOOO-LEEEE SHIT to Silva/Hendo because if Hendo can't stop the path of destruction, nobody can. -
Haven't seeing Darjeeling but I'd go with.... Royal Tennanbaums Life Aquatic Rushmore Bottle Rocket

Yikes, stem the flow here. While this wasn't exactly a raging success I wouldn't call it bad. We saw a KO, two sweet subs and (IMO) a good main event. Edgar/Fisher wasn't bad but it was very "Lather, Rinse, Repeat" but people will give most of the blame to Edgar while Fisher deserves fault (or credit) for having a very active botttom game. Karo mailed in the worst performance of his career and while Chonan isn't a slouch there was never a chance in the fight of him getting the win. I thought Ed/Dirte was good especially with the triangle at the end of round two as if there'd have been 10 more seconds in the round Ed would've been done. I personally enjoyed seeing "the questions" about Houston get answered as beating Jardine and Sakara were overrated to begin with. The main event performances on the part of both men were solid, Bisping's more so then Rashad's. Seeing how badly Rashad gassed in this fight I'd be confident in saying that if he were to face somebody at 205 that could neutralize his takedowns and stand with him to the point where Bisping did they'd beat him. Lauzon's choke was crazy awesome. Gono's tights were hotsex and the armbar was gully. Christ, sometimes MMA fans gets spoiled.

Gilbert Melendez vs Josh Thomson for the StrikeForce LW title is on for the March show. -
Ditto. The hummingbird moment at the end had me and my two roommates all saying "Fuck yeah!" at the same time.

In great news for people who want to see a FOTYC repeat but bad news for Rudo, Wagney Fabiano is out of his IFL GP Finals bout with Chris Horodecki. The replacement being Shad Lirely who went the distance with Chris earlier this year and impressed a lot of people in doing so. -
Without reading the link, absolutely it does.

Right now it very possibly could be "Nantes" by Beirut though I heard "All My Friends" for the first time the other day and promptly borrowed by roommates album and listened to the whole thing. Lovely stuff.

I want to see GSP avenge the Serra loss before seeing him dish it out to Hughes again.
-
I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority of people who think that Chuck/Wanderlei is a more intriguing fight now that they're both coming off the losses.

It's a month a few weeks away but this card is looking about done so let's get some discussion going on........ Main Event for the UFC Welterweight Title Matt Serra (Champion) vs Matt Hughes (Challenger) Chuck Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva Melvin Guillard vs Rich Clementi Roan Carneiro vs Tony Desouza Dean Lister vs Jordan Radev Nate Mohr vs Manny Gamburian Mark Bocek vs Doug Evans The final fight is up in the air but there's been persistent rumors that we'll be seeing Henderson fighting on this card as well. At what weight, nobody knows. I'm of two school of thought on this card. The first is that the title fight and Chuck/Silva make this a must-see show, simply because those are arguably the two biggest fights UFC has put on this year and they're happening on the same show. The other school says "The rest of this card is filled up with fighters that nobody would pay to see and who've almost all lost their last fights". Ten out of the fourteen guys listed, actually and in the case of guys like Lister and Desouza you've got guys who haven't fought in close to or over a year. Henderson on the main card would give it some much-needed stability but it's a moot point as last years show of Tito/Chuck had a fairly mediocre undercard but still did huge buys because of the main.

Diaz really needs to learn some fucking wrestling. If he had even half-decent shots he'd be able to get guys down. And learning that getting hit even though you're not getting hurt isn't a good thing, especially now that he's going to have some fresh scar tissue from last night. In fact I think the cut on his right eye is the one that Gomi opened up in the above pic.

Fuck an NSAC. Shit happened.

Nick Diaz vs Jeremy Jackson III Nick Diaz vs Robbie Lawler Nick Diaz vs Karo Parysian Nick Diaz vs Diego Sanchez Nick Diaz vs Joe Riggs Nick Diaz vs Takanori Gomi Jesus Christ, if you don't like Diaz you don't like MMA.

Not sure what else I'm going to see this year that'll top this but man, it'll have to be one hell of a film to do so. In a just world both Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin will end up in the Best Actor category at every single awards show that matters (though some will argue that none do). Sadly, I see Tommy Lee Jones getting a nomination over those two simply because it might just be too hard to choose, much like what happened last year with Mark Whalberg and The Departed. Not that TLJ was bad, he was very much not just that the other two men controlled the screen from start to finish with some of the best acting to come along in quite some time. Scottish actress Kelly MacDonald did a great job with the small role she was given as well. And yes, Bardem's role as Anton Chigurgh is going to go down as one of the more memorable ones of this decade up to this point. There's an intensity and energy about him that defies you to try and look away when he's speaking or even doing something as simple as smiling or looking around a room.

Considering Diaz has only lost once by TKO and that was 5 years ago I'm thinking not. Diaz subs the pretty boy in the second. For free television I'm fairly stoked for this, the Lawler/Ninja show was very good and as much as I hate to admit it I'm pretty interested in seeing how Kimbo fares, along with seeing if Shields can, ya know.....finish. Again.
