  1. "..while you're currently watching the Red Sox and Yankees go to battle, history could be made as David Wells is one strike away from throwing a perfect game. The crowd at Petco are on the edge of their seats. Of course, we are obligated by jaded fans to keep coverage here at Yankee Stadium. Keep searching for that channel that's currently airing the Giants/Padres game, fans, you won't be disappointed. 2-1 Yankees in the top of the sixth."
  2. Well yeah - it WAS funny, but Cairo didn't realize that the ball had been caught, most likely due to everyone in the stadium thinking he had hit it out. Well, except for Manny...and the three drunk college kids behind him.
  3. Aww man...I feel bad for Cairo.
  4. After a meeting with several WWE front-office employees, Tony Skee-a-vone will not sign a contract with the WWE, but will instead be asked to come in for RAW tapings on a pay-by-appearance basis, depending on how slow our news week is. In other news, Gangrel HAS signed a three-year deal with the company, effective Friday. On an additional note, what you watched on WWE television last Thursday was an illusion, as wrestler Viscera (aka "King Mable") was involved in a tragic car accident over three years ago that took the wrestler's llife. Based on various sources' accounts of the the accident, Viscera was attempting to avoid a kitten who had managed to get onto the highway. Successfuly swerving away from the kitten, Viscera lost control of the vehicle and hit a nearby telephone post. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Remember, you heard it here first. 5. Representing the Lions... TB: 20 Kansas City Green Bay Denver Detroit Indianapolis Baltimore San Francisco St. Louis Washington Seattle Buffalo Dallas New England San Diego Cincinnati Minnesota
  6. The game starts in fifteen minutes - and then Yankee Stadium will be wiped out by a drizzle in nineteen minutes.
  7. Get the game going, guys - there's a storm coming in about an hour.
  8. Miami's secondary is just a *wee* bit better than KC... Note the sarcasm. Start Muhammad without question.
  9. Logan has walked five in 3. ...and Chipper just hit a three-run homer.
  10. Thursday California at Southern Miss Friday Connecticut at Boston College Saturday Nebraska at Pittsburgh San Diego State at Michigan (Michigan will be PISSED.) Maryland at West Virginia TCU at Texas Tech Ohio State at N.C. State Oregon at Oklahoma (TOUGH pick, but Oregon looks too shaky to convince me of an upset.) LSU at Auburn (Tough pick #2) Wisconsin at Arizona UAB at Florida State Notre Dame at Michigan State (man, I HATE picking Notre Dame in this one.) Clemson at Texas A&M UCLA at Washington (Yikes again). Florida at Tennessee (Can't we just get a few fluff games this week?) USC at BYU Minnesota at Colorado State Tiebreaker #1: 41 Tiebreaker #2: 129
  11. According to Meltzer, Schiavone HATES the entire industry as a whole (not in a personal way, but in a business sense). This could not be more of a bullshit rumor.
  12. The Rock. His energy and charisma is unmatched in the ring, so if you want to see an exciting match, be it ** or *****, you'll get it with him. The body of his matches are essentially the same, but he uses the little things (mannerisms, insults, taunts, lead-ins to his finishing moves) that makes every Rock match a unique experience.
  13. Yeah, Jamie should avoid the guaranteed money, time to heal and time to spend with his family. He needs to get back to work as immediately as possible. True but, I sometimes see it as something petty from Vince. And it seems like a waste of money to pay someone to sit around when the WWE has to much of it for the past few years. Then, you see it from the wrong angle. When the contracts are written, these clauses are put in there to essentially pay the wrestler until he can find work again. These contracts are based on the exclusivity of working with WWE, so obviously since Noble is still being paid by Vince, there is still a legal binding contract to remain exclusive to the WWE. Of course, Noble can work out a verbal agreement with TNA, ROH or the like right now, until his contract runs out and he can officially sign an exclusive contract with that company. It's guaranteed money and time to spend with your family. No one in their right mind will turn that down.
  14. Jones left after the tour in Australia last November (directly after the Smackdown with Cena/Benoit winning the battle royal). Lesnar's contract has been frozen - they don't have to renogotiate if (and when) he comes back.

  16. OMG THEY FYRWED HIM 4 NO REAZON! Seriously guys, let's see what Keller (through Heyman) or Meltzer say about the reasons to his release. Obviously, the WWE abides by the stipulations of each contract, so they must have a justifiable reason for releasing a wrestler within the duration of his contract. Case in point: the last example of this...Chavo Classic.
  17. Terri and Sable asked for their release. I don't recall Jackie's blurb having the "parted ways" comment.
  18. To correct everyone, Brocail was the one being heckled. Francisco came in and threw a chair out of the scrum of players into the stands. No one could've stopped him, realistically. The security WAS there, but there are 20 Ranger players trying to either restrain their teammates, or attempting to attack the fan, so I don't know if I'd put the blame on security. If there is any blame to assign, it'd be on the fan who made the comments, since it is obvious what he said crossed a line with Brocail, and Francisco who committed the act in question. On an addendum, Frank Francisco was arrested today.
  19. All three titles defended in a match at Summerslam 1991 changed hands (Dibiase > Virgil, Nasties > Road Warriors, Perfect > Hart).
  20. He broke it a day (?) earlier, so after taking those painkillers to numb the pain, his blood was as thin as you'd imagine. Obviously, this is an especially bad time to blade.

    Monday Night Football!

Charles Rogers is out for the season. Shaun Alexander will (probably) miss 2 games due to his injury.
  22. I've ditched every other form of WWE DVD outlet for the Wal-Mart nearest me. Over the last month, I've picked up Backlash 2004, John Cena: Word Life and Vengeance 2004 for 14.88 EACH, which is ridiculously cheap given the prices of Borders, FYE and so on.
  23. If A&M holds on to their 37-0 lead.... Bowling Green (“Hail” bps21) def. Florida State (2GOLD) Maryland (MarvinisaLunatic) def. Rutgers (the pinjockey) #6 Penn State (therealworldschampion) def. Boston College (HarleyQuinn) ...and it seems a lot of games will be decided by Penn State/BC later tonight.
  24. Really, how can you go against these teams this early into the season? Especially considering the teams they're playing this week aren't at their level. As for the other games, it came down to "ranked team v. unranked team", so people didn't want to risk their points on an underdog that most of us are in the dark on (Troy and CSU, for example). I'm actually surprised Notre Dame didn't at least get a handful of votes, as I don't expect that game to suck. ...from the ESPN.com CFB front page....
