  1. That was one of the craziest thing I've ever witnessed. I had the TV on mute as I was on the phone and I looked up just in time to see it. There should be NO ACTION taken against any of the players. There were 4 or 5 fans, and one of them was a HUGE motherfucker throwing punches at all of them. Jackson was trying to help out Artest. And Artest had every right to go into the stands. Every single player got absolutely pelted with shit on the way out. Detroit, as an organization, should be fined. The Pacers should receive no suspensions or fines, they did what anyone would do and that's protect themselves and their teammates.
  2. Can MLB take a larger collective piss on the city of Montreal? Is that even possible?

    Apprentice 2

I wish I didn't read those spoilers of the final two all those weeks ago - toward the beginning. They based the spoilers on the fact that in Vegas (or maybe AC) everyone was betting on two contestants, so much so that they stopped betting on the show. Someone must have leaked. Needless to say these two people are still left. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I hope it was wrong.
  4. I thought Sayid was just looking around because he heard the whispers and realized that the bitch wasn't crazy. Which makes me want to know what the whispers are very very much. As soon as he started walking and there was about 30 seconds left - I just got the feeling he was going to hear whispers in the woods. And Hartfan, my thinking on the drawing was that it was a map.
  5. That sounds like a great episode.
  6. Hey guys...don't sleep on the Tigers. They are looking at a rotation anchored by Justin Verlander, and Kyle Sleeth. Justin Verlander is the man, and Kyle Sleeth was the #3 pick on the 03 draft. Both are going to be successful, in my opinion. Especially Verlander. He's going to be a star.
  7. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Eli Manning has replaced Kurt Warner as the New York Giants' starting quarterback. Coach Tom Coughlin made the move Monday after Warner and the offense struggled for the second consecutive week in a 17-14 loss to the Cardinals in Arizona. The Giants (5-4) have lost three of the last four games after a 4-1 start. Manning, the top pick in this year's draft and the brother of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, will face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at Giants Stadium. "He is the future of the New York Giants, it just starts now," Coughlin said of Manning, who lost a close training camp competition with Warner for the starting job. "I really felt the last four games we haven't been playing well offensively. We just need to make a change." Coughlin told both players on Monday. "Kurt is a competitor, a fighter," Coughlin said. ``He is not happy, but he is a class guy." Manning obviously was thrilled. "He is excited about the opportunity to compete and lead," Coughlin said
  8. Awesome stat.
  9. You're god damn right he did. Anything else would have been a CRIME against baseball. To channel Woody Paige... Look at the STATS! (ok, close enough to schedule). This might have been Bonds best year ever. The only people who will have something to say about this are the people who cry steroids! steroids! just because Barry isn't the nicest guy in the world.
  10. Marlins are working heavily on acquiring Jose Guillen from the Angels. The Angels want Juan Pierre and the Marlins aren't doing that. There are rumors that we might have to give up Jason Stokes for Guillen, so I'm not sure how I feel about this.
  11. I see your point, Al. It appears as though I was also deceived by his win share data. I noticed that he ranked 7th, but then I looked at those below him and it included Nomar and Orlando Cabrera and it did not sink in at first that they were half-season data. The only regular player below him that I don't think is terrible or past his prime (Barry Larkin) is Kaz Matsui. You're correct. But, I'm not going to conceed just yet. He does make a lot of outs, but this statline: .232, 23 HR, 79 RBI is better than a lot of shortstops. He's contributing SOMETHING, which is more than can be said of Juan Encarnacion.
  12. Paraphrasing: Bill Murray: I love this time of night, you can hear the whales. *horn goes off* Owen Wilson: Ah, that's beautiful. I wonder what they're saying. Bill Murray: Actually, that was a garbage barge... that's the whales. And the whole time Owen is standing there with a pipe in his mouth and a smoking jacket on... Just hilarious. Can't wait for this. It's been 3 years since the last Wes Anderson movie. Too long. Owen didn't help to write this one, but he's starring in it and that should be good enough.
  13. I don't think Alex Gonzalez is that terrible. He's not very reliable, but that's why he hits in the 8 hole. Anytime you can get 20 HRs out of your 8 spot hitter, that's not all bad. As for Cristian Guzman, I did not even think about him or know he was available. That would be a good pickup, but I don't see it happening.
  14. Orlando Cabrera to Florida, why?? Alex Gonzalez is one of the few Marlins who makes a big salary - so it's not like they will stick him on the bench. Add in the fact that he produced 7.5 Win Shares in the field (.4 more than your gold glove winner who everyone raves about in LA - PLEASE) and he hit over 20 HRs last year. Sure, he has problems, but he's one of the players I feel comfortable with in the 8 spot in the lineup. Money could be much better spent. Delgado is the BEST option. You could move Conine back to the OF - ship that slug Encarnacion to whatever team is brainless enough to take him and then in 2 years when Jeremy Hermida is ready for the bigs put Conine out to pasture. It's the smart thing to do, so of course it won't happen.
  15. It's about a group of boys who spent their days playing baseball in an old sandlot in the 1950s. There are a lot of great characters. Basically, the main character 'borrows' a Babe Ruth auto from his stepdad (played by Denis Leary) after they run out of balls for the day. It gets hit over the fence for a homerun, where it is guarded by the Beast. A huge dog that everyone is deathly afraid of. Of course, they try a ton of creative ideas to get the ball back and eventually the dog chases Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez (the best player) all through town while he wears his brand new PF Flyers. 10/10 movie.
  16. 1. Carlos Beltran - Cubs 2. Adrian Beltre - Dodgers 3. Brad Radke - Twins 4. Edgar Renteria - Cardinals 5. Pedro Martinez - Red Sox 6. Carlos Delgado - Marlins 7. Magglio Ordonez - Mets 8. Jason Varitek - Red Sox 9. Carl Pavano - Yankees 10. Richie Sexson - Seattle 11. J.D. Drew - Braves 12. Nomar Garciaparra - Angels 13. Troy Glaus - White Sox 14. Armando Benitez - Braves 15. Odalis Perez - Dodgers 16. Troy Percival - no idea 17. Matt Clement - Indians 18. Orlando Cabrera - Red Sox 19. Jeff Kent - Astros 20. Moises Alou - Yankees And for bonus points, here are five players frequently mentioned in trade talks. Are they traded, and if so, where? 1. Sammy Sosa - no trade 2. Randy Johnson - Yankees 3. Kevin Brown - Phillies 4. Charles Johnson - no trade 5. Jose Guillen - Marlins Finally, does Roger Clemens retire? No way.

Exactly - not the spamming forum.
  18. That makes sense! But I thought Kate figured it out by the date on the postmark. I'm confused.
  19. Can someone explain to me how Sawyer had the letter that he mailed to someone else with the original postmark? Either that means he tracked down the guy and killed him and then repoed the letter, or the writers left a plothole you can drive a bus through.
  20. Man, this season is slow to discuss without Eagen here to start a new thread every week. Anyway... loved last night's episode. The kids in preschool were hilarious, especially Butters and Cartman. "Firemen" was kinda funny. Butters reaction when he found out the bully was released was classic. My favorite part of the episode was at the end when they were like, "Miss Claridge, did Trent Boyette do this to you?" And she beeped twice for no. And the police were like, "Well that settles it, yes yes. You're going back to jail!" Cartman being dragged into the bushes by the 6th graders at the end was pretty good too. Great season so far. Still waiting for Lemmiwinks 2 which has been promised for this season.
  21. On the satire front, it pales in comparison to Joe Schmo. Most of the things they did were barely even funny. I am curious to see who the real boss is, apparently it's the "biggest surprise in reality TV history", although how many shows have claimed that. I'll probably skip it until the big reveal. Stupid show.

    NFL Week 9

TD Carson Palmer, 2 Yd run (Shayne Graham kick is good), 2:20. Drive: 14 plays, 66 yards in 8:19. I mean, literally.
  23. Nov. 6 - Sammy Sosa and Dusty Baker cannot co-exist as Cubs. So will the outfielder be sent to manager Baker's old stomping grounds as a player, Dodger Stadium? The Los Angeles Times reports the Cubs and Dodgers are talking about sending Sosa to L.A. in exchange for rightfielder Shawn Green. The Dodgers want to unload the salary of Green, who turns 32 on Nov. 10, and are apparently willing to take on at least part of Sosa's salary to keep a marquee name in the lineup. Each player has a no-trade clause in his contract and there are other complications that might force the deal to be expanded, the Times reports. Green's six-year, $84 million contract ends next season. He'd rather remain a Dodger but "if something else were to come up, I'd obviously have to deal with it when it came up." The situation in Chicago might be beyond repair. Besides righting things with fans, Sosa, who turns 36 on Nov. 12, will have to make amends with his teammates for leaving a game early without permission, according to the Daily Southtown. Pitcher Kerry Wood reportedly destroyed Sosa's boom box in the Cubs clubhouse after Sosa's early departure, and Mark Prior publicly said Sosa owes the team an apology. Hmmmmm.....
  24. I love the Borgata. Those outfits push the waitresses breasts up to their eyeballs. When I went - I went with my girlfriend and her mom and dad. Her brother and his friends have high roller cards, so we got into the high roller buffet which had like lobster and steak on it, as well as some of the best ravioli I've ever had in my life. Oh yeah, and free drinks didn't hurt either. Topped it off with $100 win in Blackjack and left. I am very much looking forward to going back to that place.
