Isn't the RexPlex closed down?

He got the actual date right (Oct. 12), but yeah, it should be Thursday.

Once again ripped off from the ROH boards: M-Dogg 20 in ROH? And getting over with the ROHbots? Wow. I've seen M-Dogg 20 work, and while he's certainly capable of good matches with the right opponent, he seems totally out of place in ROH. Sounds like a much better show than Cleveland got though.

From the ROH board since nobody's posted it here yet. Just one thought: While I'd agree that I'd have hated the draw had I made the show, how the hell else would it go without making AmDrag-Joe a no time limit match when they had a one hour draw just a few months ago? EDIT: Didn't realize until now that this was in comments that don't warrant a thread, but anyway, normally a big show like this deserves its own thread.

While I agree, at the same time Sports Night wouldn't have been nearly the great show it was without showing the Sports Night broadcast once in a while. Of course, we all know how many people actually got to see Sports Night, too, so...

How many times can WWE get the date of the Backlund-Snuka cage match wrong? June 28, 1982. May 19, 1980 was the Backlund-Ken Patera Texas Death match. Le sigh.

John Cena being "controversial" rather than "not over with anybody but women and children".

Russo admitted in his shoot that all he worried about were TV ratings and not how much money the company was making. This is why the most watched segment in cable wrestling history, "This Is Your Life, Rock", ended up going nowhere and why Russo still insists that David Arquette - WCW World Champion was a good idea.

Um...there was a promo where Hawke's mystery dude (Nighthawk) was more or less told his SWF debut was to be on this card, and I don't see him there...

"The Technician" Tom Carter. The idea was he wsn't as young as he used to be and wanted to save the risks for when he needed them as opposed to relying on them, so he started wrestling more of a mat-based style. I figured he'd be pushed to the moon in ROH, but he never seemed to stay there more than a couple of shows at a time.

Hell, they took an anti-Hogan sign away from me one night when they brought the nWo back, and Hogan was a heel at the time. In other words, I can't say I'm surprised.

I wanna nominate Jay Hawke vs. Zyon from Genesis VI for PPV match of the year.

August-July, right? So Cena, kayfabe-wise, is a viable number one despite sucking. Angle number 2?

While I like the fact that JR put Punk over, this goes to show that JR, while claiming he watched the ECW product, has about as much clue as WWE management does. ECW, by its nature, was a hardcore fed with no rules. Every match was "Extreme rules", and I don't seem to recall people getting sick of them. The catch to them was that while nearly every match was no DQ, and weapons were almost always legal, not every match relied on them. You had your high-flying spotfests, you had your technical wrestling masterpieces, and you had your brawls and blood. Extreme rules in ECW should be implied, because that's what makes it ECW. Do I want every match to be loaded with outside interference, tables, fire, and blood? No. But I don't want an ECW match ending on a DQ either, because DQs and ECW don't go together.

The Fallen Tag Team Trophy - For Tag Team of the Year TKO The Midnight Carnival Cup - For Stable of the Year Cucaracha Internacional (by default) The Ace of Clubs Trophy - For Heel of the Year (who's the greatest bastard? Who's the biggest prick? Who's the most evil git in the SWF?) Bruce Blank The Grand Slam Trophy - For Face of the Year (who's the archetypical hero? Who's the guy the fans love to get behind?) Zyon The Cyclone Comet Trophy - For Promo Writer of the Year (who has that gift with words that makes you understand exactly what their character is going through? This is for promos in general rather than one in particular) Tom Flesher The Nathaniel Kibagami Trophy - For Promo of the Year (that one promo that stands out above the rest, for whatever reason) I can never remember the promos. The William Hearford & Toxxic Trophy - For Rookie of the Year (who's debuted since Genesis VI and made a real impact on the fed, or you think has the potential to go on to great things?) Everyone I'd pick has been nominated.

The only game I should care about is Penn State vs. Notre Dame? That makes things a lot easier to keep track of.

For the most part it's geography based, as the Cleveland teams are all my favorites. Except for hockey, where I became a Blackhawks fan for no indiscernable reason. I do like other teams based on various reasons. The Cubs because they used to come on right when I got home from school. The Chiefs because I was pissed Marty Schottenheimer got run out of Cleveland by Art Modell and they snatched him up. Stuff like that.
