C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2005 I don't know about that DiMeola. I bought an album of his, and it's waaaaay too contemporary caribbean kinda stuff. Like all the things I don't like about Jaco Pastorius, only on a guitar. DiMeola does some sick Acoustic playing though. I think that it's one thing to shread on an electric when you have all that action, but to play as fast as he does on acoustic blows my mind. He did a live album with McLaughlin (see, I learn) and Paco DeLuca (sp?) that is worth quite a few listens. As for Holdsworth, I think that he was always wayyyyy ahead of his time. I took guitar lessons when I was young, and my teacher was always all about Alan. Guy did a lot of amazing things.

snuffbox 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 I thought Arcade Fire was pretty good...I didnt have really high hopes because I wasnt sure how their music would translate live, but just relaxin back and looking at the scenery of the Gorge was fun. The performance was damn good too...Id travel to see em again. The Dears and Kanye West were awesome. Pixies met my expectations and I was in the second row. Modest Mouse was fun, but played two downer songs to close, kinda lame.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 They have great pop hooks like that, then they have sheer explosions of noise, and it all works, whether the songs are 30 seconds or five minutes long. The first three albums are all brilliant.
