The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2004 The only ones I've seen are Spaceballs, History of the World Part 1, and Blazing Saddles. Saddles was funny, but if I recall, I didn't like the ending. Haven't seen it in three or four years anyway. And Spaceballs was way too silly when I watched some of it a month or two ago, but for all the yuk yuks it brought me in earlier years, it gets my vote. Plus I think a lot of people watched it as kids, you really have to be older to appreciate those other movies, as per the stated maturity. Kinda heavy on atmosphere and set up they are as well, Spaceballs is real rapid fire with the gags. Surprisingly, my favorite line is probably "Out of order? Fuck!" (even in the future nothing works). The way fuck is thrown in for pretty much no reason... classic. You know, Robin Hood Men in Tights really did have some stuff going for it. Nice cast for one: Cary Elwes, Richard Lewis, Dave Chappelle, Patrick Stewart, Isaac Hayes... too bad they were kind of wasted. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

But in the end, Blazing Saddles won. It's the superior movie in the end. I was going to pull some quotes off of IMDB (haven't seen the movie in a while, plan on buying the 30th aniversary edition on Tuesday) but when I looked, tehre were to many good ones. And to many ethnic slurs. So folow this LINK to read the quotes. As a side note, I recomend that everybody eitehr rent of buy the 30th anniversary editon, as it is supposed to have scenes that were not included in the original release (but were included, oddly enough, in the release they gave to Channel 11 back in the early 90's that my mom taped. I sat throughout that entire movie on a bustrip while all those around me laughed their heads off. I think I smiled once. It is such a terrible movie and I can not believe that people are picking it over Young Frankenstein. Personally, I grew up in the era where Spaceballs was on three times a day at least five times a week, so I would say it is my personal favorite, although the quality of Young Frakenstein can't be beat. I would settle to even have it on VHS but cant find that anywhere either, my friend had it though and actually sold it for like 3 bucks, to a pawn shop. I called him stupid cause I would given him more for it, unfortunally by the time I got to the store it was already long gone, I dont even think it made it on the shelf with all the other movies there like, the 7 or 8 copys of Batman & Robin & four Bill & Teds Excellent Adventures along with a bunch of other crappy movies.
