Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 How many people slammed Andre the Giant in his career? Anyone other than Hogan and Warrior? On top of my head I can think of Harley Race, King Tonga (Haku/Meng), Demolition Smash (who did that sweet double slam spot at SummerSlam'89) and Ronnie Garvin. When did Smas EVER slam Andre?? Certainly not at SS89 (although he did slam the Bossman and Akeem in that match)?? I didn't know about Haku/Meng. When did this occur?
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted May 4, 2005 Kamala slammed Andre in WCCW it has been reported
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 shit yeah, i got the wrong year for InsureXtion, it was 2001 and not 2000. Oh no you didn't, they wrestled at Insurextion 00 aswell- Angle went over with the Angle Slam, beating Benoit in the only weekend through the spring when he didn't have the IC belt.... Aero 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 The night after Badd Blood 97, I remember DX opening Raw with an interview and saying they were going to show footage of the HIAC match, but then footage of the Razor-Diesel MSG farewell played, with I believe both HHH & HBK acting confused. When it happened, I never knew what was going on since I wasn't on the internet yet, but what was this? Just DX acting like wise asses or something?

When it happened, I never knew what was going on since I wasn't on the internet yet, but what was this? Just DX acting like wise asses or something? Basically yes, since the DX angle had the basic underlying theme that both Shawn and HHH were trying to get fired so they could join their buddies in WCW, though you would have to be a smark to know and there were far less smarks at the time. and personally I was mighty confused when thewy showed that, having never heard of the clique or the msg thing, basiucally cuz I had no net acce sat the time and when I went on at school i basically was looking up theme songs and pics. Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 What made Vince decide to turn the One Man Gang into Akeem "the African Dream?" As near as I can tell, he was stuck right into the Twin Towers team after being repackaged, but wouldn't that team have been more badass if it were Bossman and OMG instead of Bossman and Akeem? I guess the thing that bothers me most about it is the way that the Gang's finisher was called the "747," and even after they repackaged him as Akeem, announcers still had a tendency to call his splash the "747." Did they expect people not to notice? Also, I didn't really start following WWF until after WM5, so did they have any kind of vignettes to promote Akeem? landy1987 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 Also, I didn't really start following WWF until after WM5, so did they have any kind of vignettes to promote Akeem? his first appearance as Akeem was kind of unexpected, Mean Gene was invited to "deepest darkest Africa" by Slick where a transformation took place. Its quite a strange sight, and then the next week he was wrestling as Akeem. Apparently it was all a rib on Dusty Rhodes - the American Dream - the African Dream (as was Virgil)
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 Gene even outed him as "One Man Gang" before Slick had to correct him.
MDH257 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2005 Yeah, but the transformation happened in a back alley somewhere (well, it was actually a set) and there were some African tribal dancers in full Saba Simba gear. I remember the bonfire there were dancing around, and from which Akeem emierged from behind of, was set in a trash can. Wrestlecrap ought to repost that, it's awful. Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Why did the government hit WWE harder in 1992 than it is hitting MLB in 2005? Because of the steroid scandal in 1992, WWE dropped many stars such as Sid, Warrior, and Bulldog. MLB never dropped Barry Bonds or any of its stars because of their steroid scandal. BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 The government didn't force Vince McMahon to get rid of those guys, he did it as a PR move because of all the bad press the WWF was getting. Also, in the case of the WWF, the guy in charge was the one who was in trouble. In the MLB case, it's just the players.
MDH257 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I think they left because Vince was going to do legit drug testing and they knew what the results would be. It's also why Randy Savage started wrestling in a shirt, he didn't want the fans to notice his shrunken physique.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2005 According to one of last year's Observers (if I can find which one, I'll quote it) all those guys were dropped specifically because they failed drug tests.

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 Speaking of Savage, I was watching SSeries 1990 today and I noticed he was nowhere in sight. Where was he? Both real and kayfabe reasons please.
JHawk 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 Speaking of Savage, I was watching SSeries 1990 today and I noticed he was nowhere in sight. Where was he? Both real and kayfabe reasons please. Savage actually did an interview with Gene Okerlund during the PPV portion of the show (during the intermission), so he was there. No idea why he didn't wrestle that night, as I had him pegged as DiBiase's mystery partner.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 According to one of last year's Observers (if I can find which one, I'll quote it) all those guys were dropped specifically because they failed drug tests. Even though he failed a drugs test right before WM VIII, Sid was let go after a dispute over a house show main event with Warrior a few weeks later, which saw Sid walk out. Warrior and DBS were fired because Vince found out they were using, I believe, GHB to try and get around the steroid testing, which was legit back then, and he felt he had no choice over the matter.
