bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 jimmy fallon needs to be fired from snl While I wouldn't mind if he was fired- SNL would be very stupid if they fired him considering he's the most popular cast member on the show. he can't do one skit without flubbing his lines. Bullshit. i wouldn't mind if tina fey was gone too. Oh boy. I really hope you can back this up. Since Tina Fey took over- Ratings have increased SNL's public perception in the media has increased Weekend Update has once again become the centrepiece of SNL like it should be. We've seen great skits like- Recurring Sketches 2002-2003 Individual Sketches • Live with Regis & Kelly • Boston Teens (with Rachel Dratch) • The Bachelor parody (Eric McCormack) • The Girl With No Gaydar (w/ Rachel Dratch) • Waxing sketch with Rachel Dratch (Nia Vardalos) • Wake-Up Wakefield (co-writes) • Joe Millionare parodies (Jeff Gordon) • E! Pre-Award Show spoofs • Date With Twins (w/ Rachel Dratch, Jennifer Garner ep) • White Trash Couple (w/ Amy Poehler & Chris Kattan) • Morning Latte (w/ Cheri Oteri) • Colonel Angus (Christopher Walken) • Martha Stewart (w/ Ana Gasteyer) • Fun Friend Club (w/ Rachel Dratch, Ray Liotta ep) • Hillary Clinton sketches • Mom Jeans commercial (Adrien Brody) • Monica Lewinsky sketches • The View parodies 1997-2001 Individual Sketches • The Search For A Playboy Centerfold (Winona Ryder) • MSNBC Investigates: The Golden Girls (Lara Flynn Boyle) • A Wedding Story (Renee Zellweger) • Talkin' 'Bout Ginas- The Vagina Monologues parody (Sean Hayes) • Census Taker (w/ Tim Meadows, Christopher Walken/Aguilera ep) • Begging Street Urchins (Jennifer Aniston) • White House In Crisis- slumber party (w/ Paula Pell, Lucy Lawless ep) • Old French Whore (Garth Brooks '97) • Sally Jessy Raphael (Chris Farley) Yea- We should really fire Tina. No talent idiot

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 jimmy fallon flubs his lines all the time. the leather store skit has never been done completely without fallon doing it mistake free. Not true- When Jimmy Fallon WANTS to- He can be on. see: Brain Busters from the Bernie Mac show any of the really good Weeekend Updates There were a couple of good Top of the Morning skits Jimmy just doesn't take SNL seriously enough. He has the talent for it- but he just doesn't have the professionalism
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 Not true- When Jimmy Fallon WANTS to- He can be on. The problem is, he never wants to be on. That's worse than someone who just doesn't have it.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 I don't like Jimmy Fallon either and really wish he would get his shit together. The jokes on Weekend Update were great this year so maybe he concentrated mostly on Updates. shilidgn (sp?) is acting like everytime he walks onto the screen he cracks up (see Rock/Andrew WK). I'm defending Jimmy here and showing he has his upsides. I hope this season Jimmy goes back to what works (impressions) and ditches that waste of skin Horatio Sanz
JasonX 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2003 I know- and I'm pointing out why Tina Fey being fired would be bad While I won't argue with the writing credentials, Tina isn't exactly the most talented cast member when it comes to being on camera. Luckily she just does Weekend Update, which plays to her strengths and covers up her weaknesses as a sketch comedy person. On the other hand, Jimmy Fallon is a complete and utterly talentless hack who's entire SNL career has been based upon Fallon being a teeny-bopper/non-threatening version of Adam Sandler and brings down Weekend Update with his very pressence in the segment.... Luckily she just does Weekend Update, which plays to her strengths and covers up her weaknesses as a sketch comedy person. Haven't Weekend Update people traditionally done that anyway because they're not great sketch guys? Dennis Miller never seemed to do much outside of Update, likewise with Norm, who felt he wasn't good at sketch (but he's done some very good stuff, despite what he thinks). Colin Quinn didn't do much either, which is probably a good thing.

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2003 So this makes #3 for the rock then? How many Atheletes have had multiple showings? I think The Rock may be the only athelete. Tina Fey IS good at sketch comedy Jason X. She's been hilarious at Assscat over at the UCB Theatre and also performed a skit comedy show with Rachel Dratch- pure gold. Dennis just did Update. Pre-WU Colin did Colin Quinn explains the NY Times, Lenny the Lion and Joe Blow. Norm did many skits and was funny in all of them but he personally didn't think he was good at sketch comedy and asked Lorne to release him from his contract. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2003 Ohhhhh boy it's going to be another bad year. And with Morgan gone it's going to be even worse. They need a new head writer, you girl isn't that gifted Bob
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2003 Tracy and Kattan exiting stage left will allow the younger newer guys to shine. Dean Edwards being fired really upsets me (if its true) They never gave the guy a real chance Tina is a very good writer- I think those skits above should be enough proof. Aside from her writing skills she has brought a lot of positive publicity to SNL and has erased the boys club stigma the show used to have.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2003 Also erased that "It use to be good" stigma it has as well. I gave SNL a shot last season, I caugh almost every ep and I just wasn't feeling it.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2003 Sometimes it seems like when a comedian is the guest host; it isn't has funny has it should be. Maybe, the writers don't but has much effort into the sketches.
