Guest Redhawk Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Pick any combo you want, unless you can remember which division winner is supposed to play the wild card and all of that. I don't, so here's mine... Oakland (AL West) vs. Boston (wild card) New York (AL East) vs. Chicago (AL Central) Chicago (NL Central) vs. Atlanta (NL East) Florida (wild card) vs. San Fran (NL West) Boston vs. New York Chicago vs. San Fran New York vs. San Fran San Francisco wins the World Series
treble Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 AL: Oakland (AL West) defeats Kansas City (AL Central) Boston (AL East) defeats Seattle (Wildcard) NL: Chicago (NL Central) defeats Atlanta (NL East) Montreal (wild card) defeats San Fran (NL West) LCS: Oakland defeats Boston Montreal defeats Chicago World Series: Montreal defeats Oakland Yeah, I wish...
Guest Anglesault Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 New York vs KC Seattle vs. Boston Atlanta vs. SanFran Philly vs. Chicago New York vs. Boson (Crushing Sox dreams is fun.) Atlanta vs. Chicago New York vs. Atlanta Yankees win. This is ideal. Boston ain't making it.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 In case anyone cares, the Wild Card team plays the team with the best record unless they are both from the same division. If that were to be the case then the wild card team plays the division winner with the second best record. New York vs. KC Seattle vs. Boston Atlanta vs. L.A. Cubs vs. Giants New York Boston L.A Cubs New York L.A World Series Champs: L.A. Dodgers
CanadianChris Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Mine would go something like this... Seattle \ Seattle \ Kansas City / \ Seattle --- New York \ / | Oakland / | Oakland / | +--- Montreal Atlanta \ | Chicago \ | Chicago / \ | Montreal --- San Francisco \ / Montreal / Montreal / Eh, so it didn't come off like I wanted...still legible.
Brush with Greatness Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Of course you're all wrong considering none of you have the Twins even making the playoffs. I'm not a Twins fan, but come on, you know there going to get in.
the pinjockey Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 I want the Braves to take over the top spot from the Giants giving Philly/Atlanta (A winable series for the Phils) SF/St.Louis Yankees/Red Sox Mariners/Royals
treble Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Philly can't play Atlanta since they're in the same division. Same with Yankees/Red Sox.
CanadianChris Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 I want the Braves to take over the top spot from the Giants giving Philly/Atlanta (A winable series for the Phils) SF/St.Louis Yankees/Red Sox Mariners/Royals That scenario with those teams would look like this under the existing rules: Giants/Phillies Braves/Cardinals Yankees/Royals Mariners/Red Sox
Guest Jar_of_Dirt Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 In the finals it would be Detroit Tigers vs Pittsburgh Pirates.
Mik Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Braves vs. Cubs Marlins vs. Giants Yankees vs. A's Mariners vs. White Sox Braves vs. Marlins (upset special baby) A's vs. Mariners Marlins vs. A's Marlins... Hey it's plausible. When I did the Marlins wildcard thread they were only 3 games over .500 and look at now...haha. Go Fish!
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Philly/San Francisco Atlanta/Chicago Cubs Oakland/NY Yankees Seattle/Kansas City Philly/Atlanta Oakland/Seattle Philly/Oakland
Mik Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Substitue Florida for Philly and White Sox for Royals and Keiper and I have the same exact scenario.
Cartman Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Mulder is pretty much done for the year, which REALLY hurts Oakland's chances of making the playoffs. Therefore(and remember this is my IDEAL scenario) Yankees vs. White Sox Seattle vs. Boston LCS Boston vs. NYY (What baseball fan DOESN'T want this matchup?) NL Braves vs. Astros Giants vs. Cardinals LCS Braves vs. Cardinals WS Boston vs. Braves Winner: Guess
Bored Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 My ideal playoff scenerio just went out the door with Mark Mulder likely out for the season. I just hope Yankees and Giants die a quick death in the divisonal series but I doubt it.

DerangedHermit Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 (edited) ALDS Yankees v. Mariners Royals v. BoSox ALCS Yankees v. BoSox NLDS Marlins v. Giants Braves v. Cubs NLCS Braves v. Marlins World Series Marlins v. BoSox World Series Champs: Flip a coin. If heads, Marlins. If tails, Marlins. If it lands on its edge, BoSox. EDIT: Meh, I'm a Mets fan. Since they're long gone, the playoffs might as well be funny. Edited August 23, 2003 by DerangedHermit
Cartman Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 Umm...Marlins love much? And if you don't want to see the Yanks vs. Bosox in the ALCS you are either #1 an Oakland fan(Bored) or #2 a Yankee fan, because you are SCARED of Boston

And if you don't want to see the Yanks vs. Bosox in the ALCS you are either #1 an Oakland fan(Bored) or #2 a Yankee fan, because you are SCARED of Boston Now THAT is funny. Of course now with Mulder out for the year and Zito stuck in mediocrity and the lack offense the A's suddenly are a long shot to make it to the postseason. If the A's don't make it I'll root for Red Sox and Cubs...and then Apocalypse will happen with then both make it.
Guest undisputedjericho Posted August 23, 2003 Report Posted August 23, 2003 Division Series AL: New York over Oakland, Seattle over Chicago NL: Atlanta over St. Louis, San Francisco over Houston League Championship AL: New York over Seattle NL: Atlanta over San Francisco World Series New York over Atlanta This is who I think will get into the playoffs...from there, it's all up in the air, though obviously I want the Yanks to come out on top.

Beacuse I don't even think the Sox are making it this year. It's late Summer, and the annual BoSox nosedive hasn't even taken full effect yet
