Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted August 26, 2003 I know about 100 different threads have done this topic in one way or another, but after SS and tonight I want to know if anybody else feels the same way. I have found myself looking less and less forward to Monday night, and usually not lasting until 10 PM before I change the channel (for all those who say "well, don't watch" as you can tell I haven't). The thing has become so mind-numbingly stupid, so empty of anything entertaining I can't believe it's gotten this bad. Look at all that Raw has done: HHH Nuff said. The man who took a television show already devoted to one rich family and made it even more egocentrical. Too much bad comedy Just about every wrestler in the midcard has a one-dimensional comedy gimmick. There is no drama, nothing funny aside from a good segment every other week, so why should I give a damn about spending two hours watching them? Wasteland of old baggage Austin, JR, Lawler, Nash, Flair, HBK, Dudleys, Steiner. All these guys could be savaged in some way, but instead we're treated to each of their tired acts every week. You know what's funny about the Coach/JR storyline? Coach is right. JR and Lawler are both predictable and stale. Coach may not be great, but am I going to cheer JR just because I'm told? Total void of any great in-ring workers Raw has one work-horse: Jericho. He's the only one that puts one consistently good matches. Not even Booker or RVD do that anymore. So of course Jericho is completely buried, fleeing from SHANE MCMAHON! So SD has a variety of wrestlers, from grapplers to high-flyers to brawlers to power workers. Raw has every guy wrestling the same match. McMahonsKane is the biggest thing on Raw. So shane kills him. Nice going. So, did I miss something? Am I the only one who feels this way? Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted August 26, 2003 1. brand extension At this point the brand extension is the only thing keeping Raw from invading SD and destroying that show, too.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 All of the non-wrestler characters being the damn focal point, leading to the actual WRESTLERS, to be nothing more than pawns! Actually do they even HAVE wrestlers on Raw? I can't possibly think of a single person who is. And no, The Game doesn't count. No one who does a SINGLE move for a match to win it can be called a wrestler.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 If the first segment didn't turn you off, then ya deserved to get the bad show you got. Seriously, when they start it off like THAT, get the hell outta dodge.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted August 26, 2003 bad things about Raw BAD WRESTLERS: look at the guys who get pushed on Raw HHH - sucks Orton- sucks Goldberg- sucks Kane - sucks Nash - sucks Shane - sucks (and not even a wrestler) Austin - cant wrestle Bischoff - sucks (and not even a wrestler) Coachman - I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say he's a bad wrestler Jericho - good HBK - good (like 6 times a year) RVD - good (kind of) Now it's clear to me that when you have a guy who can wrestle but only occasionally, a guy who's off and on, and one guy who's a real live good wrestler, you're in trouble. Because as inconvinient as it is for Vince, feuds must end in a match, and unless Jericho fights HBK on a PPV or catches Van Dam on a good night, the match will be bad. Even if it's a Patterson Special it will be lucky to reach "average". so even if the writing and booking wasn't god awful, which is a whole other post, they would still be lucky to have one average match on the whole show. If anyone watches Raw for the wrestling (debatable), they will be dissapointed.
Guest JericholicEdgeHead Report post Posted August 26, 2003 So have we hit the low point in wrestling history?? I mean come on.. 1994-1995 was no where NEAR as bad as it is now, and yes I know Nash was the champ back then. The only joy I get out of wrestling now is watching old 80's to early 90's tapes. Today's WWe at least with RAW was become a complete unwatchable JOKE! After tonight I really can't see this company getting out of this mess. Unless some MAJOR changes are made in the writing/booking the future looks bleak.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 So have we hit the low point in wrestling history?? Not quite. Smackdown, while it has some downsides, is still pretty good. Darn good matches, they usually steal the show at the dual show PPVs... It's just Raw that Raw is the bigger problem.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 They're just getting rid of all the shit before the new fall season starts. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 3 McMahons in one night is 3 too many. I don't care if Linda lives or dies...seriously. JR and King suck. Shane should not even be able to put up a fight against a trained worker. Let alone beating the hell out of Jericho and Kane (both former champs) in the same night. HHH...fuckwad who's not half the man he was 3 years ago. But pushed like he is. Too many bosses...Austin, Bischoff, Vince, Linda...have ONE PERSON run things. Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted August 26, 2003 1. No Eddy Guerrero.....he's the best all around WWE worker today. If he was on RAW, we could see great matches like RVD vs. Guerrero. Smackdown would not be as good if Eddy left. Rehab was the best decision Eddy has ever made, and see how it has paid off. 2. Brand only PPVs....I'm a little nervous about ordering Unforgiven. Bad Blood, in Austin fashion, "made me sick!" 3. The World Title.....It keeps getting thrown down like its plastic. HHH mentions that he is the World Heavyweight Championship. I have figured out how HHH and Steph will divorce. Steph will walk into HHH's room, and catch him having an affair with the World Title belt, by having sex with it. 4. Kane-He's HELL, fire and brimstone. If part of hell invades Raw, don't you think he will take Raw to hell with him? Actually, this was a joke. Kane is keeping Raw alive. 5. Backstage troubles.....Everyone is throwing a fit. One day, someone is going to end up dead. Just kidding....or am I? 6. Mcmahon-a-mania....I saw the Highlight Reel and almost died out of too many Mcmahons. Even I'm starting to get sick of it. "It makes me sick!" 7. Goldberg being treated like SHIT.....No! Not like a super hero in training. I mean, my last sig had a pic of Goldberg coming out of a dark storage closet! What the hell happened there? Plus, they make him wrestle for 15 minutes, and the people boo the shit out of him. And he tripped in his entrance last night! Hahaha! I laugh at him now! He was so over last night and never messed up! But it was ruined, and he will now face HHH in a 20 minute match, where he will be booed heavily and the people will cheer for HHH. This will be his face turn, I may add. I'm glad I never came from WCW. 8. Going to a new low every week....Goldberg out of a storage closet? Middle aged people kissing? Midget humping Lance Storm's leg? I thought TNA went to the lowest of lows when they had a midget masturbate. But now WWE has countered with a midget humping? Which one is worse? 9. Changing their minds all the time....They don't know at first how to make Kane look. (Makeup and hair or no hair or makeup?) They didn't know when Goldberg should win the title.(Bad Blood, Summerslam, or Unforgiven?) They can't make up their mind on what the most brutal match is.(EC, HIAC, Stretcher match on Smackdown, or 3 stages of hell?) Vince wants us all to act like 8 year olds, who play with one toy one week, and get sick of it, and move on to the next toy the next week. 10. The IC Title......It sucks! Its been looked as if its the European title, or even the Hardcore title. This is another reason why Eddy should go to Raw. Christian sucks more than Spike Dudley by the way he's being booked. At least Spike never had to rely on an announcer to help him win. 11. Anti-French....I love the French...they are so HOT! Hahaha! I don't know about that, but hey, there are French Fries, French Toast, French Vanilla, French Kisses, French Pornstars, French Cities, French Flags, French Subtitles. Man...it looks as if I'm spelling French wrong. Oh well.....why should we hate the French? I don't care if they hate me, because they don't know me. I don't even know why we boo La' Resistance. They're new! Give them a fucking break! Dudleys can just shut the fuck up for a second. 12. Censors....This is Spike TV, ya know. I network for men shouldn't be made of pussies who are afraid of saying "FUCK" and "SHIT" on television. 13. Nitro rehash....Every week, it starts to look like Nitro of 98 with the attitude of Nitro of 01. The backstage is even becoming a Nitro rehash, and we can't even see that on WWE programming. 14. Bad wrestling matches....I loved Jericho/RVD from a few weeks back. That has been the only good wresting match in over a month. The rest just sucks. 15. Nobody sits in the chairs on the Highlight Reel....Sit in the chairs already! They're there to be sat on, not used as props! Or maybe they are..... That's enough for now. I actually like RAW a lot. Its real entertaining. I mean, I can sing along to the Bischoff song....its just so freaking awesome! "I'm Back! I'm Better Than Ever! I'm Back! To Making Things Better!" humongous2002 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 Biggest problem on RAW has always been: PUSHING THE WRONG PEOPLE(Since now they are pushing non-wrestlers too)DOWN OUR THROATS!!! The fans pop for RVD, they truly jeer for Jericho, they chant for Book, they even cheer for ....gasp...Tommy Dreamer, why aren't these wrestlers getting a push, an angle, something. Kane's psycho act is going stale, seeing him wrestle again reminded everybody that he is not main event material, give him a transitional reign and give the belt to Rob. Orton,HHH,Austin,Shane,Coach,Vince,Nash and HBK , what all these names have in common? That the fans don't care about them anymore or in Orton's case they never did. So why do something counterproductive instead of doing good business and push the right people.

Silence 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 Gail Kim killing the quality of the Raw Women's division matches. Hell, I'll even go as far as saying Molly caught the Gail Kim Disease last week when she almost screwed up a shoulderbreaker on Trish when normally, Molly hardly ever blows even the simplest of moves. Vince making cold-hearted comments about his family just to get ratings. "I can't believe you had a demon-infested womb when Shane and Stephanie came out, Linda!" We don't give a shit about your personal life, Vince, and we sure as hell don't want to see you or the rest of your family take up airtime.

LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2003 The biggest problem to me is 3 things: 1) Too many dumb segments ---Lance/Goldust, Hurricane/Rosie, EVolution, Austin/Bischoff Linda/Bischoff etc..... none of this shit is funny and is just downright corny almost everytime. 2) ALL Focus on nonwrestlers ----- JR, The King, The Coach, Bischoff, Stone Cold, Shane Mcmahon, Linda, Vince......There is TOO much air time and effort being given into these guys who have no business being the focus anyway. If they tried half as hard on the actual wrestlers as they do with these guys things would be different. 3)Few Wrestlers that can put on an exciting match------- Jericho, HBK, RVD maybe even Kane and Christian......that's it, everybody else can't put on a good or exciting match for shit. I agree. I hate how every week Ric Flair has to always give HHH verbal blowjobs about how he's "The best in the business today" in backstage segments when that clearly isn't the case. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2003 The worst was on the PPV when Flair was like whispering, "Don't worry, champ." That was disturbing and lame, and I've now added Ric Flair to a list thus far comprising Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff of "WWE Employees That Must Cry Themselves To Sleep Each Night."
justcoz 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2003 The show needs a new look... New theme music... Announcers should be Ross/Austin/Bischoff... Or bring in DDP maybe. Let Jerry Lawler be a roving backstage Diva interviewer or have a King's Court segment... End the Gerwitz experiment. Give Heyman Raw. Or try Bischoff for all I care. I know some of you may be frightened by giving Bischoff any creative power but if anyone knows how to restore live wrestling on Monday night - it may be him. Push Chrish Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Christian, Booker if he can return to the ring. Goldberg is nothing more than the special attraction until he works house shows. Bring in wasted Smackdown talent like Sean O'Haire, Spanky, Jamie Noble, Nathan Jones (to feed to Goldberg if nothing else) and a repackaged Orlando Jones w/ Teddy Long. Possibly Chavo Guerrerro so there is some sort of Latino demographic draw on Raw since it works so well on Smackdown. If Booker doesn't return, I say bring in Edge as a top face when he's able to return. Build a Super Power Alliance with Hurricane, Shark Boy and Nova to battle the evil forces of Mortis, Papa Shango (yes, you read that right) and Evil Doink. This can give Gerwitz something to do. Scott Steiner is a heel. C'mon already... No more dueling GM shit. Bring in Foley as the Commissioner because Linda is tired of babysitting Austin and Bischoff and instead demotes them to the broadcast booth. Kane is a big baldheaded monster and he no longer plays with gasoline. Bring in Raven maybe to play mind games with him. Bottom line is end the HHH total dominance. I like him actually. It's just so overbearing right now. Let him be what Hollywood was to Nitro but don't bury the undercard in the process. End the unbelievable storylines and the corny comedy segments which go nowhere. End the non wrestlers dominating the show. For instance, for storyline sense, wouldn't it have been better for long term business if RVD kicked Kane in the dumpster fire? If you are doing a chessy unbelievable angle - do it in a way which may get talent over. Not the owner's son who doesn't work shows. None of this will happen. Especially when Kevin Dunn and Vince's yes men use the 4.9 overrun rating for the Kane/Shane segment to show "what the fans want to see."
