NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 This is mostly going to affect people who see concerts/shows at Arenas where the tickets are not General Admission. Ticketmaster is planning on AUCTIONING off, the best seats to concerts/ now instead of sticking to the first come first serve system. So Basically, there isn't going to be a cap on how much a ticket can be inflated too. Their reasoning is, if someone can go on ebay and sell off a $40 ticket for $500, then the ticket is worth $500 not $40. This is a fucking horrible idea, and will further seperate who and who cannot go to concerts and/or be up front.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 Yeah, it sucks, but it will probably keep a single ticket reseller from buying out whole sections to resell for their own profit. So at least you might have a chance. I dont see ticket resellers doing this because it would eat in to their own profit to buy a $40 ticket for $500 since they wont be able to sell it and make a profit on it. Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 What a pile of horseshit. So now it's even more of crapshoot to get good tickets. And what if you lose the auction? You're shit out of luck unless you buy back-up tickets but why should you?
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 This is a terrible plan. This means that I'll never be able to go to a show that isn't general admission again. Thanks ticketmaster.
Guest BAR Report post Posted September 4, 2003 Thank god I've already got my Maiden tickets then.
Mole 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 Wow, this is the dumbest idea I ever heard. I hope this doesn't work with WWE tickets too.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2003 It's ridiculous that Ticketmaster feels that they should be able to get the $500 that goes for a $40 ticket. Shouldn't the event be able to get that money instead?
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2003 If they are auctioning tickets, they will let me bring my fucking video camera into the show.
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2003 So, essentially, Ticketmaster is just cutting out the middleman and scalping the tickets themselves. That's fantastic. I really hope enough people will band together and refuse to pay anything more then the price ON the ticket, but that's really doubtful, so fuck this. Steviekick 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2003 Ridiculous. Ticketmaster sucks. That would so piss me off if I was a band that wasn't getting a piece of the scalping.
cynicalprofit 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2003 People should just STOP going to live shows, not because of bad performances, but because ticketmaster is a fucking theif. Let the VENUES sell the tickets, yeah, you'll get people pulling favors and shit for their friends, but that beats a 40 dollar general admission price. If it wasnt for the fact music is an art form, I'm almost ready to just stop listening to it because the music industry is destroying the music.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2003 I don't go to concerts, but damn. So I guess now if a scalper gets busted trying to sell tickets to whatever he/she can just say he was "auctioning" them...
HellSpawn 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2003 Thats awful Down here TM use a few days exclusive for some credit card owners and then after they got the best seats (MF....) then they set free the rest of the tickets. But auctions? that is borderline crime.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2003 BAR: where did you get the Maiden tickets? I went to the Maiden site and I think it was ordered through CC.com. Ticketmaster didn't even seem to realize that Maiden was going to be playing. It showed up NOWHERE on the site for me and I only knew because I checked the upcoming events listing for Post Gazette Pavillion. And this...is bullshit. Ticketmaster didn't even seem to realize that Maiden was going to be playing. It showed up NOWHERE on the site for me and I only knew because I checked the upcoming events listing for Post Gazette Pavillion. And this...is bullshit. I'm in the UK, man. So, maybe it's different. On the site next to the dates it should have a link, a 'buy tickets' or some shit. I ordered my tickets from http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk I don't know if it's different from the American site. Unless you're in UK.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2003 Incidentally, who is touring with Maiden in the UK? It's Dio and Motorhead here.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2003 I'd laugh if it was Motorhead (can't do the O right, on a shitty Mac at school), and Dio was, like...shot for being under the wrong bridge.
Kaertos 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2003 If this is true, this would suck huge. Its bad enough I can barely afford to take my wife to a concert and have halfway decent seats now. If they do this, then I'm just done. They will have priced themselves right out of my discretionary income bracket.
