ant_7000 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2003 (edited) I actually type this shit too, but anyway 50 Cent won't win anything with Em and Dre beefing with the Source and the fact the Source trashing 50 in this months issue. Baby got nominated for an award for that album that was garbage, Even I have to admit its been a down year for rap Especially if Baby is fuckin nominated. Guest Xstasy Report post Posted September 16, 2003 I have to disagree with you, ant. I think this year/ season has been great for Hip Hop and related R&B, the source awards notwithstanding. Missy and Li'l Kim's projects have both been astonishing. All of Busta's tracks have been ridiculously hot, and Pharell and Hugo have had more work than any two people should have, but they always bring their A+ Game. Thankfully Jay-Z has kept his released records to a min. Talib Kweli joins the Roots in getting conscious some airtime. I enjoyed all of Baby's single releases, haven't heard the whole album, but I love the singles. The Clipse have great beats (of course) despite a slight lackage in the flow department. Even Fabolous' tracks have been good. Freeway puts a different spin on the New York flow. Nas' new project. Ludacris makes the piece of shite that is Act a Fool, then quickly redeems himself with Stand Up. Let's not forget Joe Budden's release, that was the hotness. And Chingy brings some variety to the Midwest sound. 50 takes Shady/ Aftermath deeper into already green pastures, the label is virtually a marketing powerhouse now. And lets not forget the club anthem of the year: Get Low! How the hell did that ATL sound suddenly take off like this? I gotta put down some negatives though: Nelly sounds the same, has the same flow, and basically makes the same songs. I love the midwest sound, but its getting kindof annoying coming from him every few months. More violence plagues the genre, of course. Black Eyed Peas come out with that corny ass Where is the Love song that makes me wanna vomit every time I hear it. And New York rap is still doing the same stuff, and saying the same stuff, over and over. It all sounds pretty much the same, and its annoying. Thankfully there are other areas bringing in some originality.

Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted September 16, 2003 It's been a great year for rap; DM & Jemini's album is the best pop hip hop album i've ever heard. Tes is a wonderful new artist who should go far. Buck 65's just released the album of the year, and one of the best of all time. Why?'s album is also excellent and should make the top 10. Just a handful of examples there!

shlidgn90 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2003 in order to get nominated for an source award, you have to appear on a benzino album. btw, where is the 8 mile soundtrack or god son on any of these lists?
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2003 (edited) Hell, 50 won't win shit and Em won't ever get nomination or a good rating from them again, especially Em broke his Source award trophy on stage. Nas won't win anything after the buring magazine stuff on XXL. Im suprised Benzino didn't include himself in all the catogories. Alot cats aint going to win, because you have to work with Benzino, thats why Baby is getting a nod, I don't consider him a rapper at all, he should stick to running Cash Money (my bad Slim is probably the brains behind Cash Money). Expect Jay-Z and Ja Rule winning most of the major awards. Oh yea Benoitrulez4life, Baby is the guy thats on TheGame2057's avatar.
