Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted September 22, 2003 AS said Orton/HBK would be one of the worst matches of the night. By my score, it was the MOTN. Now, I don't expect the anti-Orton bitching to cease, HOWEVER, I think it's time to stop exaggerating with Orton and acting like a giant putz in general. The kid's not bad, bland yes (hell yes) but not BAD in any way. He just needs to develop some signature spots in the ring that will get the crowd in the match. Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 He's painfully average. I enjoy watching guys like Venis, Richards, and the like a lot more than Randy Orton.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 The match was a typical Michaels affair...nothing more. Oh and HOW EXACTLY does getting pinned clean and then winning with 1000 brass knuckle shots put Orton over?
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 That was a good match. MOTN, in my opinion.
Styles 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 He's still very green. I have no idea where the sentiment that HBK/Orton would be the wost match of the night. HBK has been great in every match he's had since his comeback and Orton has the ability to be carried. Match of the night by far (not that it's saying too much...) Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I've been saying this for months now. He is terribly underrated.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I haven't seen the match and I have no desire to but All I'm hearing is **...Which is just fucking sad if that really is the MOTN. Shawn has made lugs and duds look good before...this shouldn't be anything new...
rising up out of the back seat-nuh 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Orton didn't disgrace himself by any means. Give him a few years, and he'll be ME calibre. Well, ME calibre by WWE standards.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I'm sorry, but I can't quite trust anyone who ordered this PPV's judgement... after all, you ordered this PPV in the first place. I don't hate Orton, I do think a bit of the anti-Orton sentiment is unfounded, but I can't quite say that he's good, let alone good enough for what he is getting. Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I know it's been done to death, but whatever. I just hate it that this average, run of the mill worker is getting a huge push, where there are tons of guys who deserve it more. I just don't see anything "special" in Orton at all. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted September 22, 2003 AS said Orton/HBK would be one of the worst matches of the night. By my score, it was the MOTN. I'll have to see it. MOTN on this particular show may no be so glorious. The kid's not bad, bland yes (hell yes) but not BAD in any way. I look at it this way. Has he had a really good match? -Barring tonight's affair being the best match ever, no. Has he had some really bad matches? -Some have hit ridiculously bad. Has he done anything since his last horrible match to become significantl better? -Absolutely not. That's how 've decided that Coward Boy is a) No where near worthy of his push and b) Not even all that worthy of a spot on TV. Tell me how he is sigficantl better than Stevie Richards. LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 The guy is very green...but he can be carried.....The Rock was painful to watch in the beginning too...You gotta let these guys develop their character and in ring presense and persona....it doenst come to them automatically. As for worst match of the night.... I'm convinced AS has something personal against Orton. The constant bitching about him is a little over the top and AS in my mind exaggerates a lot about him. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 He's not overly bad, or overly good. He's just there. The match tonight was pretty good, but it didn't make me think that he should be in the main event or anything like that.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Orton had a really good match with Kidman on Velocity at about this time last year. Good enough to make me not hate him, at least
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted September 22, 2003 The guy is very green...but he can be carried.....The Rock was painful to watch in the beginning too... Rock, by WM XIV, was much better than Orton is now.
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted September 22, 2003 On Raw? He's one of the few guys that interest me when he steps in the ring. That being said, so is Maven. If he was on Smackdown, he would be in Orlando Jordan territory regarding how much I cared about him. He's certainly not BAD, but I wouldn't say he's as good as even his father, and certainly not deserving of the push he's getting. Then again, neither is A-Train, La Resistance or Goldberg, so deservedness is obviously not something thats taken into consideration.

True...i agree, but his gimmick was hot and he was still a midcard guy....Orton gets more flack because he's so high up on the card already......Don't get me wrong i think he should be in midcard now, and nowhere near mainevent level anytime soon. Guest Doyo Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I just don't see anything "special" in Orton at all. He is tall, muscular and has movie star good looks. As long as he has half decent wrestling skills, Vince will try and push him. If only Eddy Guerrero and Benoit were 5 inches taller...
Highland 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I'll probably get alot of flack for this, but yeah Orton doesn't deserve alot of the flak we give him, but at the same time he shouldn't be so high up the card. As fot his push, I won't say he doesn't deserve it, since I feel every performer deserves to be pushed. If Vince only pushed the guys we like (Benoit, Eddy, etc) we'd quickly grow tired of them. Anyway back to the topic at hand: Orton's underrated and HBK is very much overrated. Always has been and he always will be.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Report post Posted September 22, 2003 You ever heard the saying that HBK could carry a broomstick in a match?Well Orton is worse than a broomstick. He is very green, he has no heat whatsoever and he is trying too hard to be Rocky lite. Vince sees money written all over this guy, but Jericho, RVD ,Benoit and Eddy are not main event material. EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I don't have a problem with Orton and his wrestling but, my main problem is that he's getting pushed to hard to fast for his ability. I think he would be fine in the midcard but, not were he is right now.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted September 22, 2003 To the people who ordered Unforgiven... WHY?? To the Orton haters... just give him time. Just give him time.... I gave him a year and a half. Guest Goodear Report post Posted September 22, 2003 This Michaels win is the first win Orton has gotten that actually means anything considering the rest of his hit list has been Maven and Tommy Dreamer. And even then, has Michaels won a singles match in months now? The whole push is basically engineered around Ross giving the hard sell and having Randy hang out with Ric and Triple H. I still don't see Orton as this hugely overpushed guy that is overshadowing some other worthy guy that could fit the same role. Anyway, Orton needs to work in some more signature spots into his list while continueing to hone his bumping skills with an eye on long termn selling. He also needs to work on interacting with the crowd more often in order to draw some much needed match heat. But yeah, here Orton is underrated since some people hate him a whole lot for some reason that I haven't figured out.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Here are three reasons why Orton isn't overrated: He has NO mic skills He has NO finisher He is VERY green in the ring Those are three very good points as to why Orton is overrated. I understand that people think he is gonna be good in the future, that is obvious. The main point is too much too soon for Orton......period.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 He has NO finisher That's not true. He has the RKO. Only mistake you made there though.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I sort of disagree with the microphone skills as well. I really do get the impression that Orton is comfortable on the stick, its just that he has virtually nothing to say since his character is so one dimensional. Seriously there are only so many ways to say, "we're the elite" without boring the audience especially when Triple H and Flair are saying the same exact thing in the same segment. notJames 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 He has NO finisher That's not true. He has the RKO. Only mistake you made there though. It's not much of a finisher though, is it? It reminds me of Hurricane's flying neckbreaker, only in reverse. How come that move never results in a pinfall? Because it's a transition spot. And that's what the RKO is. I'd say Orton is overrated because he has no presence. Sure, Brock may have been green when he first came in, and he may have (had) nonexistent mic skills, but he sure looked the part of a killer wrestler. Orton looks like a swimmer. Hardly the look of a tough guy, eh?
