Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series Winner: The Daily Show Outstanding Reality/Competition Program Winner: The Amazing Race 2 I didn't see the show, but these two impress me. They went the predictable route with all the "...Raymond" love, but I'm pleasantly surprised that the Daily Show won over more "respectable" shows like Letterman and Leno. I'm also surprised that TAR won over American Idol and the AFI special, and hopefully this means another season from CBS.
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Six Feet Under and Curb Your Enthusiasm were harshly and unfairly raped. That is all.

Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I'm probably the only person on this board who doesn't find Curb Your Enthusiasm funny at all. And how did Gandolfini win if The Sopranos didn't even air new episodes most of this year? (If they did at all, I don't know.)
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 They did. It was last year that they didn't have any.

Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Emmy afterthoughts: All they needed host-wise were Jon Stewart and Conan O'Brien. Just those guys. I am sick of The West Wing. Give CSI or 24 credit where it's due next year! Tony Shaloub OWNS as Monk. Michael Chiklis > James Gandolfini Did anyone else see "Door to Door"? That movie deserved all it got. Watch it and try not to cry a little. Jon Stewart > Wayne Brady Those same four shows being nominated for Best Comedy year after year is getting really old. That is all. P.S.- These are just my opinions... and also, I'm addicted to television.

AR2 had a terrible ending (Flo sucks) but it is still the best reality show out of the bunch nominated. Good for them, I would like to see another season too. Daily Show kicks ass, so it deserves to win. "What can you tell us about hispanic muslims?" And Curb You Enthusiasm >>> Everyone Loves Raymond.

FYI, CBS has agreed to casting for The Amazing Race 5, which for reality shows almost guarantees that it'll be back on. The Daily Show deserves the Emmy. Fake news, a funny host (OK, Conan's funny as well), and guests who don't simply rely on the standard jokes and plugs. What's not to like? AR2 had a terrible ending (Flo sucks) but it is still the best reality show out of the bunch nominated. Good for them, I would like to see another season too. TAR2 was the one with the Cha Chas, Tara and Will and the Boston Boys. (Shut up) Flo was in TAR3

Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 meatwad could've been a great gimmick poster, just going from thread to thread and saying "do what now?" By gimmick poster I take it you mean ending/starting each post with a certain line/phrase? Well then hell yeah I could do that! Or maybe I can say "Where are my popsicles?", or even "Commence to jigglin'!" Also, another Emmy note: Hey Wanda Sykes and George Lopez! Guess what? Dave Chappelle and Carlos Mencia are a lot funnier than you.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Oh, and Jen Garner > Falco Falco, the Austrian guy who sang "Rock Me Amadeus"? also, Firefly beat Buffy and 3 episodes of Enterprise for best visual effects. I didn't even know Mutant Enemy did other shows besides Buffy n' Angel Firefly was in the Fox timeslot of death (Fri 8pmET) but a lot of people creamed over it. Personally, I thought that the style of the show (an intergalactic western) was done better in "Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs", but that's just me. Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I know the Simpsons won "Best Animated". Was something funnier than it nominated? Please tell me there was SOMETHING because The Simpsons was weak last year. I need outrage! The Simpsons episode that won was the one where Homer lived with two gay guys. It beat the Futurama episode "Jurassic Bark", which besides being about one thousand times better than anything The Simpsons have done in years was the first cartoon to reduce me to tears since I became so cold and callous. the max 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I know the Simpsons won "Best Animated". That really was a great show with a great overall message, rather than just a quirky 'gay episode' which really didn't accomplish much except wasting my 30 minutes. The Futurama episode summed up for those who didn't see it: Fry reads in the newspaper that archeologists have recreated an old Pizzaria from the 20th Century. He and Bender go to see it and discover that it is in fact Panucci's Pizza, the pizzeria Fry used to work at in 1999. Fry also discovers that the fossilised remains of his old dog Seymour are on display! In 1997, Fry was the victim of a prank call, and meets a stray dog, whom he names Seymour after the prank caller, Seymour Asses. Seymour soon becomes the mascot at Panuccis. Back in 3003, Fry campaigns to get Seymour back and eventually does, and Farnsworth says he can use the cloning machine to bring Seymour back to life. Bender gets jealous though and throws Seymour into molten lava. Fry is furious and Bender realises what he has done and how much this meant to Fry. Bender jumps into the lava to save the dog. On December 31st 1999, Fry is about to leave to deliver the pizza to "I C Weiner" and Seymour doesn't want him to go. Fry promises he'll be back soon. Next day Fry isn't back and Seymour starts looking for him, finding him at the Cryogenics lab. Unfortunately neither the staff nor Fry's parents see Fry in the tube and Seymour is taken home by Mr and Mrs Fry. Back in 3003, Bender saves Seymour and Farnsworth starts the cloning process. Fry finds out the dog was 15 when he died and realises Seymour lived a long life after Fry was frozen. Fry thinks Seymour forgot about him a long time ago and stops the cloning. However we see that Seymour waited outside Panucci's Pizza for Fry to come back for the rest of his life.
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Report post Posted September 22, 2003 So...am I the only one who thinks Six Feet Under is far and away the best dramatic series on television? I can somewhat stomach The Sopranos or 24 beating SFU, but goddammit, THE WEST WING ISN'T THAT GOOD! And CSI downright sucks ass.
