Guest Cerebus Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 California recall quote of the day: "Frustrated chickens should not vote for Colonel Sanders." - Jesse Jackson at a Davis rally
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 The New Deals impact on the U.S. is highly overrated. Had we not entered WWII it would've been a big fat failure.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 The New Deals impact on the U.S. is highly overrated. Had we not entered WWII it would've been a big fat failure. If the New Deal hadn't kept the US Economy alive there's strong evidence that there would've been either a Communist or Facist uprising. The shit was THAT BAD. Plus, the man made a significant, positive, impact within 100 Days of entering the White House. How many other presidents can claim that ?
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 The New Deal did a minimal amount for the economy. It's extremely debatable what it accomplished. But IMO people credit it with more than it really did.
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 The New Deal did a minimal amount for the economy. It's extremely debatable what it accomplished. But IMO people credit it with more than it really did. This is true. The New Deal's impact was pretty much non-existant in terms of helping the economy. WW2 brought the US out of the Depression. Not just your opinion, but the opinion of every US History professor I've ever had as well. And their opinion is worth more than ours.
MrRant Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 Depends on if the professor is a liberal commie or not.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 So, when do the results for the recall come through?
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 Around midnight or so on eastern time.
MrRant Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 For some reason I got an image of Arnolds acceptance speech looking oddly like a Nazi meeting. Funny image.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 California recall quote of the day: "Frustrated chickens should not vote for Colonel Sanders." - Jesse Jackson at a Davis rally Now I KNOW there's a joke in there somewhere, but I'm just passing it by, ignoring it like I do any roadside accident scene. Oh, Drudge says Davis out, Arnold in. Take it for what it's worth -- and at this stage in the game, it's not worth much...
Guest JMA Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 "He's an actor!" I don't see how this is a bad thing. The greatest president of the 20th Century was an actor and former Governor of California. I was making fun of the reasons people don't like Arnold running. I LIKE Arnold myself. I have to disagree with you about Reagan, though. But I don't want to get into that here... and I won't.
Guest Cerebus Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Ok back to the recall...latest exit poll shows Ahnold with 43%, Bustmante 30%, and "Yes To Recall" at 59% Exit polls aren't terribly reliable but it doesn't look too good for Davis but pretty good for Ahnold.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 ACLU's getting those lawyers ready.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Yeah. But I'm sure they'll find some way to try and dispute the results of the election.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Right now there are legions of disenfranchised voters picking Larry Flynt instead of Cruz. As I typed this, Gary Coleman just got a vote that was suppsed to be a "no" on the Recall...
Guest Cerebus Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I'm curious about something that i've heard virtually nothing about...what exactly happens tommorow as far as turning the reign of powers over to Ahnold? Is he governor tommorow? Saturday? What?
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I would think things would turn over as quickly as possible.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 After the lawsuits, of course. So I predict Arnold in Office by November -- of 2007...
Spicy McHaggis Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Recall - Yes Get the fuck out Gumby! Arnold Schwarzenegger Best candidate with the best shot. Prop 53 - No Sounds dandy but endorsed by BustaMECHA and Indian Gaming. Prop 54 - Yes Time for real colorblindness.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I can't wait for the next recall in 6 months. This was fun.
Guest Cerebus Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I bet all of the other 49 governors are scouring thier constitutions desperate to get rid of any line that has anything to do with "recall"
NoCalMike Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 My question is, what will the republican response be if a RECALL ARNOLD petition is started? Are they going to embrace this as the will of the people, or are they going to call it a liberal tactic to try to win an election that they lost fair & square!?!
Guest Cerebus Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Good point, but would the Democrats REALLY want that? I mean it looks like they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they do that shit
Vyce Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Matt Drudge is reporting the results as being: Drudge Report 59% YES on the Recall 51% Arnold 30% Bustamante 13% McClintock Now, the polls have not yet closed (they will shortly), and this is Drudge we're talking about, but presuming that his numbers aren't outrageously erroneous, it appears that Arnold will be the next governor of the State of California. Unless, of course, the ACLU and God knows who else file lawsuits to the contrary.
NoCalMike Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Well the first issue of concern among Jesse Jackson and Co. Is that they say the infrastructure in the balloting is all fucked up. I guess in a normal election there is 5400 polling stations and for this election there is only 1800. He is trying to argue that the 1800 simply cannot handle the masses and is leading to disenfranchised voters. He may have some valid points, but when I went to vote earlier today at approx 2pm, my polling booth was fucking dead. I was the only one in there voting, and I think maybe one person was coming in as I was leaving. I am not sure if more people vote before or after the general 9-5 work hours though.

Plus, the man made a significant, positive, impact within 100 Days of entering the White House. How many other presidents can claim that ? That the Socialist Party was handidly trounced in 1932 --- when the Depression was at its NADIR --- says that they never had a prayer of ever winning. FDR did a lot of good, but he did A LOT of bad. 1) He attempted to basically do away with a balance on executive power by attempting to pack the Supreme Court. 2) His social policies have become economic boondoggles (and he KNEW Social Security would become a huge problem in the future). 3) He ran for office in 1944 when he knew he shouldn't. He also killed off the unspoken 2-term rule that people like Washington, who could've been President PERMANENTLY had he wished, followed. Give me Eisenhower for an underappreciated President. -=Mike
Edwin MacPhisto Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Ahahahaha, he won. That was quick.
NoCalMike Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 well exit polls show Arnold won. Good Luck Arnold, see ya in 2 months at the recall election.
Guest Cerebus Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Actually FDR didn't break the 2-term "limit" in 44, he did it in 40 when he ran for a 3rd term.
