AboveAverage484 Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Nominate at the most three movies. Once about 64 movies have been nominated, I'll make them into a tournament for your voting pleasure. It's time! Only two rules: make them modern horror movies only (70's and on) with a few notable exceptions (Psycho, Night of the Living Dead). Reason being, I will be making a classic horror tourney in a few weeks with about 32 movies. Like someone said before I think we have enough of an attention span to vote in more than one tourney. Second is, horror movies will take precedence over thriller/suspense flicks (mostly PG-13 movies, but some exceptions will be made).
The Ghost of bps21 Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Scream isn't a horror movie. I just want everyone to understand that going in. Ill take the easy ones Exorcist Halloween A Nightmare on Elm Street
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Horror of Dracula (Hammer Films) Evil Dead Phantasm

Mole Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 (edited) I disagree, Scream is a horror movie. The Others Silver Bullet Texas Chainsaw Massacre Edited October 8, 2003 by Mole

The Ghost of bps21 Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 They're wrong. At it's most simplistic people consider it a slasher film with jokes... But Scream was more than that...it was Generation X's Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It was a perfect commentary on that generation...it just used slasher films as its template.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I disagree, Scream is a horror movie. The Others Se7en Texas Chainsaw Massacre Isn't SE7EN Thriller/Mystery/Suspense?
The Ghost of bps21 Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Se7en isn't a horror movie either
Downhome Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I disagree, Scream is a horror movie. The Others Se7en Texas Chainsaw Massacre Isn't SE7EN Thriller/Mystery/Suspense? I agree, Se7en isn't a horror film. Psychological horror perhaps, but not a HORROR film. If Se7en counts, I could list a TON of movies that should count.
Mole Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I always thought it was a horror movie. Discount that then. I'll edit it now.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 The Birds is too old, Mole. 70's and on, remember?
Guest Retro Rob Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Psycho (original) The Ring Shadow of the Vampire
Guest El Satanico Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 If we get more than 64 nominations and there's votes for multiple movies from one series, you should put the movie series together as one nomination, instead of nominations for each film. The Hills Have Eyes Suspiria Near Dark
Youth N Asia Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Clownhouse Dawn of the Dead The Thing Shadow of the Vampire really isn't that much of a horror movie.
Mole Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 The Birds is too old, Mole. 70's and on, remember? Right, I fixed it again.

Guest El Satanico Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Halloween 3 (this should be excepted from the series lumping rule) I agree
Guest El Satanico Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Relax downhome...he said a limit of three per person for now. Keep these movies as backups in case we don't have enough nominations after everyone has had a chance to make a nomination.

NoCalMike Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 An American Werewolf in London Hellraiser The Beyond Oh and Scream wasn't a horror movie, it was a satire on the slasher genre by Wes Craven. It did so good money-wise that it spawned two cash cow sequels, giving off the impression that it was a horror trilogy.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 The Howling Dog Soldiers Ginger Snaps. I'm on a werewolf kick at the moment and it's hard pressed to get superior to those as far as that genre goes IMO.
