Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 This is not a "favorite" or "best" thread, it's a beast of a different breed altogether. I was listening to the sndtrk for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon earlier today and almost broke down in tears because it was so amazing. That, to me, was "beautiful" music. So, what do you dig or know of that would be considered "beautiful" music? What is something that is so insanely pleasureable for you to listen to that you can only call it beauty? Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 Two techno songs, Drop It by 3 Steps Ahead, and Digeridoo by Aphex Twin... they're both very fast, and I think the beauty in them is that they're just unrelenting and thus, overwhelming. Listening to them is the closest I get to understanding raving (besides the drugs). B.O.B. by Outkast comes close for the same reasons, but I'm not really feeling the gospel breakdown at the end. other beautiful songs: Prince - The Cross Velevt Underground - Venus In Furs Legendary Pink Dots - Disturbance Diamanda Galas - I Put A Spell On You Clint Mansell, Kronos Quartet - Requiem for a Dream score

notJames 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 Most of the tracks from the Twin Peaks soundtrack, especially the stuff performed by Julee Cruise. Pretty much all the soulful or orchestral stuff from Tori Amos, like Winter", "Icicle", "Jackie's Strength", and "Northern Lad". And I've recently been digging "Hello" by Evanescence. Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Off of the top of my head, the most beautiful song I have ever heard is "All Love Can Be" by Charlotte Church, from the motion picture "A Beautiful Mind". Not to sound cliche, but that song is just so powerful. If music can actually touch a soul for me, it's this one.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted October 11, 2003 The entirety of dredg's "El Cielo"almost made me cry halfway through. There's something very piercing about the whole sound, from the fluid bass to the harmonic guitar and almost gentle singing. It's really like nothing else I've ever experienced. Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Certain acoustic versions of the following songs are fucking outstanding... 3AM --- Matchbox 20 (Get the piano version, it's one of my favorite things ever.) Foolish Games --- Jewel (Much like the next one, one of the most depressing performances of all time.) Break Me --- Jewel (My favorite Jewel song, my favorite vocal performance that she's ever done, and quite possibly my favorite ever.) You Were Meant For Me --- Jewel (Fuck it, I love everything pre-"new Jewel". You have to hear the acoustic versions of her songs.) Don't Speak --- No Doubt (Screw the normal version, this one is unreal.) ...and there are tons more that I could list.
