Smackdown rating a 3.6

Recommended Posts

Linda WAS on this week...

I'm trying to think of a postive way to spin this but Shit and McMahon and zero wrestling seems to get ratings...

Well I figure, the 3.6 that saw it this week would tell their friends that Linda is in the McMahon Mix so those friends will watch next week to see what happens.

No Spinning Needed, a rating is a rating - call me when they stay up there for a while.

Or when No Mercy's buyrate (which is fifty times more important than one show's rating) comes in, or when they sell out a show (house or TV).

Isn't the rating usually reflective of last week? I mean if last weeks show was good then people will tune in again to see if they produce similar results. If the show blows then nobody will watch the next week. Methinks next weeks rating will tank.

In theory, yes, the previous show has an impact on the current show's ratings. But I'd put more weight into variables and chance than that... unless it was built up big with a return of someone, or a big match, or something like that for a week or two.

Ok, THAT'S IT!

Starting in November (sweeps month), I am going to do a ratings report. I'm tired of these constant, singular, ratings threads that put nothing in perspective. It will include trend analysis, historical data, outside influences, what's hot and what's not, the "big stories", Quarterly, Monthly, Semi-Annual and Yearly reports, along with my own unique view on wrestling...

Coming in November, RRRRR: RavinshingRickRudo's Rating Report!

Since it's clear that McMahons = ratings and shit = ratings, if the WWE really wants to draw monster numbers they need to find a way to combine the two.

Hmm, Linda vs Stephanie Cat Fight in a pool full of fecal matter! MUST SEE TV~!

Figures.

THANKS A LOT, AMERICAN TV VIEWERS--morons.

I second that.

That was the worst SD I have ever seen, so naturally it rates well and ensures us more of the same.

Wow, I should have known the worst Smackdown in ages would get great ratings.

Stuff like this just makes me ill, whenever they have a show with nothing but good wrestling it gets a low rating, but whenever they have McMahonamaina and other crap it gets great ratings.

I just don't understandstand it, heck... so how long do you think it will be before they just say.. to hell with the wrestling all together and just put on one big variety sopa opera comedy show without the wrestling ring? Vince Russo must be proud :(

Goddamit. You know Vince is going to keep doing this. He's going to keep doing this until SD runs into the ground.

I think it is only a matter of time untill we see very little to NO wrestling on WWE TV. The casual fans have spoken and it's obvious that they hate the wrestling and will only watch skits and shock segments, so in turn Vince will cater to their needs and present a traveling "movie/comedy show" or "reality show" with very little wrestling if any at all.

I also expect Vince will now look to hire professional actors and slowly do away with the wrestling talent.

This may sound silly, but it wouldn't suprise me one bit.

"Casual fans" almost mean nothing now. "Casual fans" that are flicking channels don't have any love for what they're watching so they're not really going to bring in any business. They aren't going to the houseshows or order a PPV just because they decided to stop for an instant to watch Big Show get covered with feces. I also wonder how these "casual fans" are so smart that they knew ahead of time there was less wrestling last night and a couple more skits. I think it's a little bit of a stretch to say that last night's rating was because of casual fans. Remember last week's rating was abnormally low so this week's rating looks good by default. A lot of the skit fans have left wrestling and they're not coming back because 1)the fad has passed (they already know what the skits are like anyway) and 2)the skits suck more than ever now so there's nothing appealing to them there either. The quality of skits isn't going to change in the foreseeable future either so they're not going to stick around.

More questions about the ratings. When they're divided up in quarters how much of one do you have to watch before you're officially counted as having watched that show during the quarter hour? During the Monday Night battles of the past could you have possably given a rating to each show if you watched say 10 minutes of Nitro and 5 minutes of RAW?

How many of you people that are complaing because the rating is up actually watched the show yourselves?

Every single one of you that watched it contributed to that rating.

Think maybe instead of giving credit for the high rating to McMahons and shit, we should be giving that honor to Eddie Guerrero? He's the next big star, dammit!

Yes because they will always have the diehard rating...the rating that is there from those that watch the show no matter what. Unfortunately the die hard rating is very low.

Yeah but we also watch the shows that has a lot of good wrestling and those shows do poor ratings, so I don't see how we make a difference.

I thought just the people who have Neilson ratings boxes count so does everyone with a TV set count now?? I wish I knew how this whole ratings thing worked.

They SHOULD do that. I heartily encourage that now. It's what they really want to do, so Vince and Co. should stop fucking around and just get rid of the ring itself, since it's clear that it's like the relative you secretly hate and can't wait to get away from.

So what should the second W stand for now?
